Abstract:
Looking for a new promising cathode material of sodium ion batteries (SIBs) is a challenge for large energy storage systems. Here we present a study of a novel alluaudite NaFePO 4 and NaFePO 4 /CNT nano-composites for SIBs application. The new monodisperse porous NaFePO 4 microspheres and their nano-composites consist of nanorods with an open three-dimensional framework. First principles calculations identify two fast one-dimensional paths for Na+ insertion and extraction. Moreover, the electrochemical characterization demonstrates that up to 0.9 Na+ can be intercalated/deintercalated reversibly even for 50 cycles using this novel NaFePO 4 /CNT nano-composite.
