Abstract: Background and Purpose. The vascular morphology in crowd with family history of stroke remains unclear. The present study clarified the characteristics of the intracranial vascular CoW and prevalence of intracranial aneurysms in subjects with family history of stroke. Methods. A stratified cluster, random sampling method was used for subjects with family history of stroke among rural residents in Jixian, Tianjin, China. All the subjects underwent a physical examination, head computed tomography (CT) scan, and cephalic and cervical computed tomography angiography (CTA) scan. Anatomic variations in the Circle of Willis and cerebrovascular disease in this population were analyzed. Results. In the crowd with similar living environment, stable genetic background, and family history of stroke and without obvious nerve function impairment (1) hypoplasia or absence of A1 segment was significantly different in gender (male versus female: 9.8% versus 18.8%, p = 0.031 ), especially the right-side A1 (male versus female: 5.9% versus 16.4%, p = 0.00 4 ). (2) Hypoplasia or absence of bilateral posterior communicating arteries was more common in men than women (58.2% versus 45.3%, p = 0.032 ). Unilateral fetal posterior cerebral artery was observed more often in women than men (17.2% versus 8.5%, p = 0.028 ). (3) The percentage of subjects with incomplete CoW did not increase significantly with age. Compared to healthy Chinese people, the crowd had a higher percentage of incomplete CoW ( p 〈 0.00 1 ). (4) No obvious correlation between risk factors and CoW was found. (5) The prevalence of aneurysm was 10.3% in the special crowd. Conclusions. The certain variations of CoW showed significant relation to gender, but not to age in people with family history of stroke. The incomplete circle may be a dangerous factor that is independent of common risk factors for stroke and tend to lead to cerebral ischemia in the crowd with family history of stroke. The prevalence of intracranial aneurysm is comparatively high in the present subjects compared to other people.

Abstract: The experiment on gas jet flame extinguishing with water mist in open space was conducted in this paper. On the basis of experimental result, the process of the flame extinguishment can be classified into two categories:1) when fuel flow rate is small, the gas jet flame can be suppressed and extinguished quickly; 2) When fuel flow is large, the flame lifts from the attached position at the burner exit after suppressed by the water mist. FLUENT is used to simulate the interaction of water mist with gas jet flame. The Eddy-dissipation model (EDM) is used for combustion of flame. the water mist is simulated by Discrete Phase Model (DPM).The simulated results agree well with the experimental results. To some extent, EDM is suitable for simulating the interaction of water mist with a turbulent gas jet flame.

Abstract: At present, low-pass whole-genome sequencing (WGS) is frequently used in clinical research and in the screening of copy number variations (CNVs). However, there are still some challenges in the detection of triploids. Restriction site-associated DNA sequencing (RAD-Seq) technology is a reduced-representation genome sequencing technology developed based on next-generation sequencing. Here, we verified whether RAD-Seq could be employed to detect CNVs and triploids. In this study, genomic DNA of 11 samples was extracted employing a routine method and used to build libraries. Five cell lines of known karyotypes and 6 triploid abortion tissue samples were included for RAD-Seq testing. The triploid samples were confirmed by STR analysis and also tested by low-pass WGS. The accuracy and efficiency of detecting CNVs and triploids by RAD-Seq were then assessed, compared with low-pass WGS. In our results, RAD-Seq detected 11 out of 11 (100%) chromosomal abnormalities, including 4 deletions and 1 aneuploidy in the purchased cell lines and all triploid samples. By contrast, these triploids were missed by low-pass WGS. Furthermore, RAD-Seq showed a higher resolution and more accurate allele frequency in the detection of triploids than low-pass WGS. Our study shows that, compared with low-pass WGS, RAD-Seq has relatively higher accuracy in CNV detection at a similar cost and is capable of identifying triploids. Therefore, the application of this technique in medical genetics has a significant potential value.

Abstract: Having a large number of timely donations during the early stages of a COVID-19 breakout would normally be considered rare. Donation is a special public goods game with zero yield for donors, and it has the characteristics of the prisoners’ dilemma. This paper discusses why timely donations in the early stages of COVID-19 occurred. Based on the idea that donation is a strategy adopted by players during interconnection on account of their understanding of the environment, donation-related populations are placed on social networks and the inter-correlation structures in the population are described by scale-free networks. Players in donation-related populations are of four types: donors, illegal beneficiaries, legal beneficiaries, and inactive people. We model the evolutionary game of donation on a scale-free network. Donors, illegal beneficiaries and inactive people learn and update strategies under the Fermi update rule, whereas the conversion between legal beneficiaries and the other three types is determined by the environment surrounding the players. We study the evolution of cooperative action when the agglomeration coefficient, the parameters of the utility function, the noise intensity, the utility coefficient, the donation coefficient and the initial states of the population on the scale-free network change. For population sizes of 50, 100, 150, and 200, we give the utility functions and the agglomeration coefficients for promoting cooperation and study the corresponding steady states and structural characteristics of the population. We identify the best ranges of the noise intensity K , the donation coefficient α and the utility coefficient β for promoting cooperation at different population sizes. Furthermore, with the increase of the population size, the donor traps are found. At the same time, it is discovered that the initial states of the population have a great impact on the steady states; thus the upper and lower triangle phenomena are proposed. We also find that the population size itself is also an important factor for promoting donation, pointing out the direction of efforts to further promote donation and achieve better social homeostasis under the donation model.

Abstract: The current paper considers a retailer selling a vertically differentiated configurable product (e.g., a mobile phone), which is a combination of a required component (e.g., CPU) and an optional component (e.g., headphone). Each component consists of several quality-differentiated variants from which customers can choose. Customers differ in their valuation for quality, and each customer independently chooses the variant that maximizes his utility. First, the scenario where a customer’s purchase decision depends on the prices and assortments of both the required and optional components is examined. The results indicate that the assortment and price optimization problem for configurable products can be separated into each component category’s assortment and price decisions. Furthermore, the optimal assortment of each component category does not depend on the distribution of customer valuations. It is comprised of the variants that are on the lowest convex envelope curve of the quality-cost graph of that category. An efficient algorithm is proposed to identify the retailer’s optimal decisions. Then, we examine the case where a customer evaluates an optional variant only if he decides to purchase a required variant. The results suggest that: (i) there exist some relationships between the optimal decisions in the base choice model and that in the sequential choice model; (ii) overlooking the sequential choice behavior may result in broader assortment,  suboptimal prices, and profit loss.
