Abstract: Noninvasive evaluation of the expression of angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2) and transketolase (TKT) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is of great significance for the clinical development of individualized treatment plans. However, the correlation between intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion weighted imaging (IVIM-DWI) and the expression of Ang-2 and TKT has not been reported. We sought to investigate the correlations between IVIM-DWI parameters and Ang-2 and TKT expression levels in HCCs. Methods Conventional non-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and IVIM-DWI and dynamic contrast MRI were performed for 61 patients with HCC before surgical treatment. Various IVIM-DWI parameters, such as apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), slow apparent diffusion coefficient (D), fast apparent diffusion coefficient (D * ) and fraction of fast apparent diffusion coefficient (f), were calculated using Function-MADC software. Expression levels of Ang-2 and TKT in HCC were detected via immunohistochemical staining and classified into two grades. Independent sample t tests were used to compare differences in parameters between the two groups. The Spearman rank correlation test was used to analyze the correlations between IVIM-DWI parameters and Ang-2 and TKT expression levels in HCCs. Results The D * and f values were significantly higher in the high Ang-2 group than in the low Ang-2 group; there were no obvious between-group differences in ADC and D. Ang-2 expression was positively correlated with D* and f but not with ADC and D. The ADC and D values were significantly lower in the high TKT group than in the low TKT group, whereas the between-group differences for D* and f were not significant. TKT expression was negatively correlated with ADC and D but not with D* and f. Conclusions IVIM-DWI can be used to evaluate Ang-2 and TKT expression in HCC.

Abstract: The present study aimed to explore the value of intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion-weighted imaging (IVIM-DWI) in differentiating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) from intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). This study included 65 patients with malignant hepatic nodules (55 with HCC, 10 with ICC), and 17 control patients with normal livers. All patients underwent IVIM-DWI scans on a 3.0 T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner. The standard apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), pure diffusion coefficient (D slow ), pseudo-diffusion coefficient (D fast ), and perfusion fraction (f) were obtained. Differences in the parameters among the groups were analysed using one-way ANOVA, with p  〈  0.05 indicating statistical significance. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to compare the efficacy of each parameter in differentiating HCC from ICC. ADC, D slow , D fast , f significantly differed among the three groups. ADC and D slow were significantly lower in the HCC group than in the ICC group, while D fast was significantly higher in the HCC group than in the ICC group; f did not significantly differ between the HCC and ICC groups. When the cut-off values of ADC, D slow , and D fast were 1.27 × 10 −3 mm 2 /s, 0.81 × 10 −3 mm 2 /s, and 26.04 × 10 −3 mm 2 /s, respectively, their diagnostic sensitivities for differentiating HCC from ICC were 98.18%, 58.18%, and 94.55%, their diagnostic specificities were 50.00%, 80.00%, and 80.00%, and their areas under the ROC curve (AUCs) were 0.687, 0.721, and 0.896, respectively. D fast displayed the largest AUC value. IVIM-DWI can be used to differentiate HCC from ICC.

Abstract: To investigate clinical characteristics and surgery outcomes of young children with focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) type II. Methods Young children (onset age ≤6 years) with FCDII who underwent epileptic surgery in Children Epilepsy Center of Peking University First Hospital in 2014‐2018 were followed up for at least 6 months after surgery. Results One hundred and twelve children with FCDII were included, with median age of onset 0.9 years (0.01‐5.9), who underwent surgery at 4.1 years old (0.8‐16.2). Focal seizures were most frequent (90.2%) and epileptic spasms presented in 23 (20.5%) cases. Epileptic encephalopathy was not uncommon (12.5%), associated with earlier epilepsy onset and higher rate of bilateral onset on ictal EEG (OR = 0.213, 9.059; P  = .041, .004). At the last follow‐up, 88.4% achieved seizure‐free. Before surgery, 49.1% showed moderate/severe developmental delay, associated with earlier seizure onset and higher rate of history of epileptic encephalopathy (OR = 0.740, 5.160, P  = .023, .042). For 48 children with preoperatively moderate/severe developmental delay, DQ rank at 6 months postsurgery was improved in only four cases. Conclusion For young children with FCDII, they tend to present with epileptic encephalopathies and show moderate/severe developmental delay before surgery. The seizure outcome was favorable after surgery. For children with preoperatively moderate/severe developmental delay, developmental outcome at 6 months after surgery was not satisfactory.

Abstract: With urban high buildings increasing in China, the demand for efficiency of wall insulation is getting more and more serious, especially in northeast and northwest China. However, thermal insulation wall in domestic is quite easy to produce cracks under external conditions, which greatly reduces life time. In this paper, we expand the discarded glass and mix aggregate and polypropylene fiber to improve the compressive strength of concrete to achieve green multifunctional concrete.Through the performance test of the expansive glass, we conclude that performances of expansive glass become best at the sinter point of 660°;Moreover, TiO2 added to the exterior wall coating can catalyze the degradation of nitrogen oxides and formaldehyde to purify the air. Non-toxic and harmless, the wall, with strong thermal insulation efficiency, is expected to replace the current building materials in order to produce and utilize massively.

Abstract: The present study aimed to investigate the value of intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion weighted imaging (IVIM-DWI) in the preoperative prediction of the histologic differentiation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Seventy HCC patients were scanned with a 3.0 T magnetic resonance scanner. The values of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), slow apparent diffusion coefficient (D), fast apparent diffusion coefficient (D*), and the fraction of the fast apparent diffusion coefficient (f) were measured. Analysis of variance was used to compare the differences in parameters between groups with different degrees of histologic differentiation. p   〈  0.05 was considered statistically significant. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to analyse the efficacy of IVIM-DWI parameters for predicting the histologic differentiation of HCC. The ADC and D values for well, moderately and poorly differentiated HCC were 1.35 ± 0.17 × 10 −3  mm 2 /s, 1.16 ± 0.17 × 10 −3  mm 2 /s, 0.98 ± 0.21 × 10 −3  mm 2 /s, and 1.06 ± 0.15 × 10 −3  mm 2 /s, 0.88 ± 0.16 × 10 −3  mm 2 /s, 0.76 ± 0.18 × 10 −3  mm 2 /s, respectively, and all differences were significant. The D* and f values of the three groups were 32.87 ± 14.70 × 10 −3 mm 2 /s, 41.68 ± 17.90 × 10 −3 mm 2 /s, 34.54 ± 18.60 × 10 −3 mm 2 /s and 0.22 ± 0.07, 0.23 ± 0.08, 0.18 ± 0.07, respectively, with no significant difference. When the cut-off values of ADC and D were 1.25 × 10 −3 mm 2 /s and 0.97 × 10 −3 mm 2 /s, respectively, their diagnostic sensitivities and specificities for distinguishing well differentiated HCC from moderately differentiated and poorly differentiated HCC were 73.3%, 85.5%, 86.7%, and 78.2%, and their areas under the ROC curve were 0.821 and 0.841, respectively. ADC and D values can be used preoperatively to predict the degree of histologic differentiation in HCC, and the D value has better diagnostic value.

Abstract: Rhizome of Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge (AA, family Liliaceae) has been widely used in China for thousands of years to treat febrile diseases and diabetes. Steroidal saponins from AA show good antidiabetes effects and ameliorate diabetic complications. This study was designed to investigate the effects of sarsasapogenin (Sar), a major sapogenin from AA, on diabetic nephropathy (DN) in rats, and to explore the possible mechanisms. Diabetic rats were divided into 3 groups treated orally with Sar (0, 20, or 60 mg/kg) and carboxymethylcellulose sodium, whereas normal rats for Sar (0 or 60 mg/kg) and carboxymethylcellulose sodium. We found that chronic treatment with Sar for 9 weeks significantly ameliorated renal dysfunction of diabetic rats, as evidenced by decreases in albuminuria, kidney weight index, serum uric acid, and morphologic changes such as extracellular matrix expansion and accumulation (fibronectin and collagen IV levels, etc.). Meanwhile, Sar treatment resulted in decreases in interleukin‐18, NLRP3, and activated caspase 1 levels as well as advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs) and their receptor (RAGE) levels in the renal cortex of diabetic rats. However, Sar has no effects on the above indices in the normal rats. Therefore, Sar can markedly ameliorate diabetic nephropathy in rats via inhibition of NLRP3 inflammasome activation and AGEs–RAGE interaction.

Abstract: Bone metastasis is one of the most common complications of Prostate Cancer (PCa). The detection of distal bone metastasis at the time of initial PCa diagnosis is valuable for the determination of therapeutic methods and for the prognosis of PCa. Many current therapeutic methods target PCa bone metastasis, but no uniform evaluation standard for therapeutic efficacy has been established; in addition, traditional therapeutic evaluation standards that rely on changes in the measured tumor volume are quite controversial. In clinical practice, the volumes of some tumors often change nonsignificantly at the early stage of therapy (especially targeted therapy), while the volumes of other tumors, such as metastatic bone lesions, are difficult to measure. Diffusion-Weighted Imaging (DWI) not only reflects the diffusion characteristics of tissues but can also allow the analysis of microstructural and functional changes in tissues. Therefore, DWI is suitable for evaluations of early responses to tumor therapy. Objective: This study mainly reviews the principle of DWI and its progress in the detection and therapy evaluation of PCa bone metastasis. Methods: PubMed was searched to identify eligible articles up to December 26, 2020. The keywords of the analysis included DWI, PCa, bone metastasis, therapeutic response, targeted therapy, Bone Scintigraphy (BS), Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) and metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer (mCRPC). Results: This review based on collected articles achieved an imaging biomarker for detection and therapy evaluation of PCa bone metastasis. Conclusion : DWI is a promising imaging method for the detection and therapeutic evaluation of PCa bone metastases.
