Abstract:
Reactions of 1,1,1-tris(dichlorostibinomethyl)ethane, CH 3 C(CH 2 SbCl 2 ) 3 (1), with water afford, depending on the molar ratios of the components, the adamantane structured CH 3 C (CH 2 SbO) 3 (2) or Sb 4 O 6 , whereas with H 2 S only the heteroadamantane CH 3 C(CH 2 SbS) 3 (3) is obtained. With NaSeH com pound 1 forms CH 3 C(CH 2 SbSe) 3 (4) accompanied by the heteronoradamantane CH 3 C(CH 2 Sb) 3 Se 2 (5). Several attempts to prepare an antimony and tellurium containing adamantane or noradamantane failed, as 1 was reduced by Na 2 Te yielding the heteronortricyclane CH 3 C(CH 2 Sb) 3 (6). Oxidation of the latter in tetrahydrofuran by air gives Sb 4 O 6 . The new com pounds have been characterized by mass, infrared, Raman, and as far as possible, by 1 H NMR spectroscopy.
