Abstract: Background: Breast cancer has had the highest mortality and morbidity globally in recent years. Breast cancer in young women presents with biological characteristics of more aggressive cancer, generally detected at advanced stage and a poorer prognosis. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of the incidence of breast cancer in young female patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang in 2019–2020.Methods: This study is descriptive observational study conducted in October–November 2021. After having ethical approval from the Institutional Review Committee, research data were obtained from the medical records of young female patients diagnosed with breast cancer from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020. Samples were collected by using total sampling with the patient’s young age limit of fewer than 40 years. Results: The incidence of breast cancer was 20.9% (169 patients). The number of samples in this study was 120. Sociodemographic characteristics include the age range of 35–39 years around 63.3% (76 people), the highest education level of senior high school around 35% (42 people), not working around 73.3% (88 people), and living in the Palembang City area around 47.5% (57 people). Clinicopathological characteristics include the stage at the first diagnosis of stage IIIB about 46.7% (56 people), luminal B clinical subtype about 60% (72 people), and most histopathological type of invasive carcinoma of no special type about 88.3% (106 people). Conclusions: The incidence of breast cancer in young women is less than in older women but has worse cancer characteristics

Abstract: The global health burden of breast cancer is increasing with 5-year survival rates being much shorter in low-income and middle-income countries. Sociodemographic and clinical disparities in early cancer detection affect long-term outcome. Methods: The authors compared social, demographic, and pathological characteristics associated with metastatic and late stages of breast cancer diagnosis using data collected from a special registry developed by Perhimpunan Bedah Onkologi Indonesia (PERABOI) in 2015. Results: Of 4959 patients recruited in this study, 995 women (20.1%) were diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Lower education status and living in rural areas were significantly associated with Stage IV at diagnosis [odds ratio (OR)=1.256, 95% CI=1.093–1.445, P =0.001; and OR=1.197, 95% CI=1.042–1.377, P =0.012; respectively). Main complaints other than lump (ulceration, breast pain, and discharge) and occupation as a housewife were also associated with the presentation of metastatic diseases (OR=2.598, 95% CI=2.538–3.448, P 〈 0.001 and OR=1.264, 95% CI=1.056–1.567, P =0.030, respectively). Having lower education and living outside Java and Bali islands were associated with the diagnosis of late-stage breast cancers (OR=1.908, 95% CI=1.629–2.232, P 〈 0.001 and OR=3.039, 95% CI=2.238–4.126, P 〈 0.001; respectively). A higher proportion of breast cancer patients were relatively younger with bigger tumour size, positive axillary nodal involvement, and more frequent Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 overexpression. Conclusion: The authors identified sociodemographic disparities in the metastatic and late-stage diagnosis of breast cancers among Indonesian women. The subsequent action is required to reduce disparities faced by women with lower social and educational levels for early diagnosis and better healthcare access.

Abstract: Introduction: Breast cancer is one of the most common neoplasm occurs in women. Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy (NACT) is widely used in Locally Advanced Breast Cancer (LABC) and Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC), to reduce tumor size (down-sizing), and further allowing breast-conserving surgery to be performed. Accurate markers are needed to prevent impractical chemotherapy that allows patients to receive definitive surgery in a timely manner. Previous study showed neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) was superior in predicting long-term outcomes over PLR. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between the NLR value and neoadjuvant chemotherapy response in patients with locally advanced breast cancer at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang. Methods: This study is a prognostic test of the NLR accuracy to predict the response of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with locally advanced breast cancer. The study included 113 patients as study subjects. Results: The obtained NLR cut off point value was ≤ 2.92 with an area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 92.2%. The diagnostic measures of the NLR prognostic test had sensitivity of 93%, specificity of 93%, Positive Predictive Value of 97%, Negative Predictive Value of 82%, and accuracy of 93%. There is a significant relationship between NLR and chemotherapy response in patients with locally advanced breast cancer (p = 0.000). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between NLTR and chemotherapy response. NLR can be used as a predictor of neoadjuvant chemotherapy response with a good degree of accuracy.

Abstract: Abstract Introduction: Modified radical mastectomy (MRM) is a breast cancer treatment option that is still operable. One of the postoperative complications that can be found is the formation of seroma. High negative suction drain is done to treat seroma after surgery but it can contribute to increase the length of stay in hospital. Methods: This study was a clinical randomized control trial (cRCT) conducted on 30 breast cancer patients in June - July 2019 at Moehammad Hoesin Hospital in Palembang. This study divided the two sample groups, each group consisting of 15 patients. One group was given half negative pressure on suction drain (experimental group) and the other used full negative pressure on suction drain (control group). Results: There was a significant difference (p 〈 0.005) between the full and half negative pressure groups where there were more seroma events in the full vacuum group in 9 (60%) cases and half vacuum in 2 (30%) but there were no significant differences in long period of stay (p 〉 0.005). Conclusion: Half negative pressure is more effective in treating seroma than full negative pressure.

Abstract: Breast cancer is a malignancy which invaded breast tissue in the form of ductal or lobular. One most therapy which is given is neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy can reduce tumor size so that surgerycan be performed with good breast removal with Modification of Radical Mastectomy (MRM) and Breast Conservative Therapy (BCT). This purpose from this research is to find out neoadjuvant chemotherapy response in Locally Advanced Breast Cancer Patients which has received chemotherapy treatment in RSUP dr Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. This observational descriptive study was conducted at RSUP Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in the period between October until November 2019. The sample of this study was locally advanced breast Cancer patients who underwent chemotherapy that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data were obtained by interviews and observed medical records from the patients which were then analyzed by univariate analysis using SPSS version 25. In this study there were 34 locally advanced breast cancer patients who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria. 24 of 34 patients (70,6%) received positive response and 10 of 34 patients (29,4%) received negative response.

Abstract: CD8+ Cytotoxic T-cell Lymphocytes (CTLs) had a major role in tumour apoptosis. Meanwhile, chemotherapy could induce tumour cell apoptosis and enhance CTL response. Therefore, pre-treatment immune status might predict the ability of chemotherapy to eliminate cancer cells. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy to CD8+ serum in locally advanced breast cancer patient. A randomized clinical trial has been conducted in Dr Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from October 2017 until January 2018. There were 30 samples who fulfil the inclusion criteria. All samples were taken neoadjuvant chemotherapy and analysis data was using SPSS ver.21. The range of age patient with locally advanced breast cancer in this study 30-66 y.o with mean 45±10.526 y.o. After neoadjuvant chemotherapy, the CD8+ serum was significantly decreased (p=0.000). CD8+ serum before chemotherapy has sensitivity 42.86% and specificity 43.48% to predict neoadjuvant chemotherapy response with cut off point 660.7 cell/mm 3 . Neoadjuvant chemotherapy decreases CD8+ significantly in locally advanced breast cancer patient.

Abstract: Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women and with high mortality rate also. There is evidence showing the influence of life style and environmental factors on the development of mammary gland cancer (high-fat diet, alcohol consumption, lack of physical exercise), the elimination of which (primary prevention) may contribute to a decrease in morbidity and mortality. The aim of this paper is to review current knowledge and reports regarding primary prevention of breast cancer.
