Abstract:
Aim: The new coronavirus-19 disease (COVID-19), which emerged towards the end of 2019 and caused a pandemic all over the world, has infected millions of people all over the world for more than two years. In this study, it was aimed to examine the factors affecting the length of stay of hospitalized patients with the diagnosis of COVID-19. Material and methods: Patients with COVID-19 hospitalized in the infectious diseases service of our hospital between March and June 2020 were included in the study. Demographic characteristics of patients, vital signs, hemogram during, urea, creatine, C-reactive protein (CRP), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), prothrombin time (PT), international normalized ratio (INR), procalcitonin (pct), D-dimer, ferritin, troponin, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte-lymphocyte ratio (MLR) and mean platelet volume (MPV)-lymphocyte ratio (MPVLR), COVID-19 PCR, lung imaging findings, treatment and length of hospital stay were analyzed retrospectively. Results: In our study, the mean age of the patients was 56,51±15,48, the female-male ratio was 1/1, and the mean hospitalization period was 7.58±3.35 days. Longer hospital stay was observed in patients with DM, HT, and malignancy, and patients receiving favipiravir, enoxaparin, and vitamin C supplements. It was determined that fever, procalcitonin, AST, and LDH values were found to be significantly higher in patients with a long hospitalization period than in patients with a short hospitalization period. Lymphocyte count and percentage, NLR, monocyte count, and MPV/lymphocyte ratio were found to be significantly lower in patients hospitalized for more than seven days. Conclusion: It was found that the complaints of admission to the hospital were ineffective in predicting the length of stay.
