Abstract: This study aimed to analyze the causality relationship between financial development and economic growth by using the data of the five fragile countries for the period 1980 to 2018. In this direction, the cross-section dependency is examined, and it is concluded that the cross-section is independent. Then, by performing the Delta homogeneity test, it is aimed to understand whether other countries are affected at the same level without a change occurring in any of the countries considered, and heterogeneity has been reached. Subsequently, the unit root test determines that the variables are stationary at different levels. Dumitrescu and Hurlin panel causality test is performed to test the causality relationship. As a result of the test, while it is seen that there is not a relationship between economic growth and financial development index,  the examination with control variables confirmed that there is a causality relationship between economic growth and financial development. These results showed that the demand-leading hypothesis is valid in the five fragile countries.  Finally, to understand the causality relationship more clearly in the study, the Hatemi-J asymmetric causality test was performed, and it is understood that the causality relationship between financial development and economic growth may differ according to country.

Abstract: The aim of this study is to examine the economic interaction between developed and developing countries with Turkey. The analysis consists of ten developing countries, notably Turkey, and eight developed countries’ stock exchanges. The dataset consists of monthly stock market index values between January 2010 and December 2017. According to the results, it is determined that, Turkey is cointegrated with selected developed and developing countries exchanges, moreover selected developing countries group cointegrated between themselves, however selected developed countries group was not cointegrated between themselves. Therefore, due to co-integrated structures of stock exchanges, it has been found that developing country exchanges cannot be an alternative to each other within the framework of modern portfolio theory. According to this result, it is not possible to diversify risks among the developing countries stock exchanges in the long term. Developed countries stock exchanges are not co-integrated within the group and a substitute for each other as an alternative investment tool.

Abstract: Turizm; insanların gezme, dinlenme, eğlenme, öğrenme gibi çeşitli amaçlar doğrultusunda başka bölgelere seyahat etmeleri sonucunda gerçekleşmektedir.

Abstract: The Industrial Revolution and globalization have rapidly transformed the world into a single market. This situation has made foreign trade an important economic activity for countries. Thus, foreign trade gaining great importance for countries has also increased the global demand for foreign currency. The exchange rate interacting with foreign trade affects the inflation figures of countries as well. In this direction, the purpose of this study is to examine whether there is a relationship among exchange rate, inflation, export, and import series by using an econometric method for Turkey's monthly between 2004:M1-2019:M12. Firstly, the theoretical framework and literature review were discussed in the study, then econometric analysis was performed. In the econometric analysis, first, the Augmented Dickey-Fuller unit root test was applied to the series, and it was observed that the series were stationary at the first difference. Then, the Johansen cointegration test was applied to the series and it was determined that the series were cointegrated. At the last stage of the analysis, the Granger causality test was conducted and as a result of this test, it was found that there was a bidirectional causality relationship between Turkey's exports and imports between 2004-2019. In addition, it has been observed that there is a one-way causality relationship from exchange rate to inflation and exports. Ultimately, in the study,it is concluded that exchange rate, inflation, export, and import figures affect each other in the long run in Turkey.

Abstract: This study examined the relationship between economic growth and energy consumption in the period 1986–2015 for 15 selected developed countries. In this study, in which the dynamic panel analysis method was used, cross-section dependence and homogeneity tests were taken into account. Accordingly, unit root and cointegration tests were decided. According to the cointegration test results, it has been determined that there is a long-term relationship between economic growth and energy consumption. The results obtained from the Dumitrescu-Hurlin causality test analysis show that there is a bidirectional causality relationship. As a result of the analysis, it has been concluded that economic growth and energy consumption are the causes of each other for the period of 1986–2015 in 15 selected developed countries.JEL Classification:O40, O13, C23. Doi: 10.28991/HEF-2022-03-01-06 Full Text: PDF
