Abstract: This paper reports the production of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) and fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEEs) by the transesterification reaction of rubber seed oil (RSO) in supercritical methanol and ethanol without using any catalyst. Experiment were carried out in a batch reactor, and reactions were studied at 260, 280, 300 and 320 oC at a pressure of 8.1-19 MPa with various mole ratios of ethanol – to - methanol from 0 to 100%. The extent of the reaction was explored using a convertibility parameter, which corresponds to the maximum ester content attainable from the feedstock. The highest FAME and FAEE contents achieved were 91.8 % and 86.4%, respectively. Results show that transesterification of RSO in methanol was more efficient than that in ethanol; the temperature had the strongest influence.

Abstract: Taxol has been by far the most well-known worldwide as an effective anticancer natural drug. With the great treatment abilities at low concentration, Taxol is a considerable interest of many scientists in various fields. The commercial products of Taxol can be isolated directly from Taxus species or can be synthesized from 10-deacetylbaccatin III (10-DAB III) or baccatin III (BC III), which are known as precursors of Taxol, by using semisynthetic methods. In this study, the extraction of Taxol and 10-DAB III from the leaves and branches of red pine cultivated in Lam Dong Province, Vietnam was carried out. Some traditional methods such as Soxhlet, maceration as well as the modern methods such as microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) were used to extract and evaluate the extraction efficiency. The concentration of 10-DAB III experienced at over 90% as compared to maceration and the amount of Taxol accounted for approximately 80% of Soxhlet. MAE was thus more suitable for recovering both Taxol and 10-DAB III than the others because of its short time and less solvent consumption. Besides, four parameters including solvent nature (MeOH and EtOH), extraction time, material/solvent ratio (1:10, 1:15, 1:20 and 1:25) and microwave power (40W, 240W and 440W) were investigated the effects of these elements on the content of 10-DAB III and Taxol. The results illustrated that the optimal conditions providing 95.85% 10-DAB III were as follows: 240W, 1:15 ratio and 20 minutes for extraction. To get the highest amount of Taxol (79.83%), extraction was subjected at these conditions concluding 40W, 1:25 ratio and 20 minutes. Diaion, NP-silicagel were used to enrich taxol and 10-DAB III from methanol extract and chloroform extract, respectively. The highest concentration of Taxol and 10-DAB III constituted at 0.64% and 19.76% with NP-silicagel (PE: aceton, 7:3).

Abstract: Coherent diffractive imaging (CDI) is a lensless microscopy technique in which the structure of a specimen of interest is probed using a coherent short-wavelength light source. CDI has been widely used in nanotechnology and structural biology to capture high resolution images of non-crystalline objects. In this paper, we review the theoretical and experimental aspects of coherent diffractive imaging using a focused narrow-bandwidth table-top high harmonic source. The review begins with an outline of generation and characterization of the high harmonic source. Theoretical description of coherent diffractive imaging technique is then summarized. The review concludes with our recent results in imaging using a single harmonic beam selected by employing XUV focusing mirrors. These achievements provide a promising technique for the non-crystallographic structural determination of membrane proteins using a table-top extreme ultraviolet source.

Abstract: Device-to-Device (D2D) has attracted substantial research attention recently and has been recognized as an essential approach to performance improvement in 5G networks, due to its potential to improve coverage, spectrum efficiency, and energy within the existing cellular network. In this paper, we refer to an LTE-A scenario in which the underlay mode is adopted to allow D2D pairs to communicate directly by sharing sub-channels with Cellular Users (CUEs) and cellular mode (CELLM), where two D2D users communicate through the eNB as conventional CUEs and no direct D2D link is established. In this case, the eNB is used as a relay. Our aim is to propose heuristic resource allocation schemes to distribute radio resources among CUEs and D2Ds in a cell taking the interference because of pairing into account. Finally, an analytical approach is proposed to characterize CUE and D2D capacity as well as outage probability for D2D cellular mode.  This is an Open Access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.

Abstract: Introduction: Stem cell therapy is one of the most promising therapies for degenerative diseases and related injuries. Adipose tissue derived stem cells (ADSCs) exhibit some particular properties such as high production of paracrine factors. Indeed, ADSCs have been successfully used to treat diseases, including osteoarthritis, diabetic ulcer, etc. Methods: In this study, ADSCs were used to treat spinal cord injury (SCI) in a mouse model. Non-expanded ADSCs, from stromal vascular fractions (SVFs) isolated from both autologous and allogeneic adipose tissues, were injected into injured sites of mice at a specified dose. The SCI mouse model were generated by transection of spinal cord at vertebrae T8 - T10. After 1 week of transection, mice exhibiting completed SCI were divided into 4 groups: group 1 was control (mice without any treatment), group 2 was placebo (mice treated with platelet rich plasma (PRP)), group 3 was allogeneic SVF transplantation (mice treated with allogeneic SVFs), and group 4 was autologous SVF transplantation (mice treated with autologous SVFs). For the treatment groups, mice were transplanted with 20 µL of activated PRP or/and with 106 cells of SVF (allogeneic or autologous) into the injured position through laminectomy. The recovery of SCI was evaluated by locomotor test, sensory test and sensory-motor test at 5 weeks after transplantation. The histology of the spinal cord also was checked after 5 weeks. Results: The results showed that in all groups with PRP injected with or without SVFs, the inflammation was efficiently controlled. The glial scar as well as myelin defragmentation were clearly reduced. However, a significant improvement of BBB score was only recorded in mice transplanted with autologous SVFs. Conclusion: The results of our study show that autologous SVF transplantation in combination with PRP can be a promising therapy for SCI.

Abstract: In Flying Adhoc NETwork (FANET), the communications between Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), UAVs to infrastructure, and UAVs to wireless sensors are crucial design factors. With strict energy constrain during flying operation, the allocation of power and resources, the flying strategy, and the medium access mechanism shall be effectively used. When employing cellular network as backhaul for UAVs, the flying height of UAVs not only affects the communication between UAVs and end users on the ground, but also determines the reception between infrastructure (base stations from the cellular network) to UAVs. In this paper, we optimize the flying height of UAVs for better reception from the cellular network by using stochastic geometry analysis to model the aggregated interference at the UAV side. The network system performance is also examined under the effect of fading-less channel and Rayleigh fading channel. This is an Open Access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium provided the original work is properly cited.
