Abstract:
In the title compound, [Cu(C 18 H 12 Br 2 N 3 O)(C 10 H 8 N 2 )]BF 4 , the Cu atom is pentacoordinated by three atoms, viz . N, N and O of the tridentate 2-[2-(1 H -1,3-benzimidazol-2-yl)ethyliminomethyl]-2,4-dibromophenolate ligand and two N atoms of the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand. The Cu coordination geometry is highly distorted trigonal bipyramidal, with Cu—O and Cu—N bond lengths of 1.916 (3) and 1.954 (4)–2.212 (4) Å, respectively. The axial positions are occupied by two N atoms which form an N—Cu—N angle of 170.29 (16)°.
