Abstract: Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that occurs in the epithelial tissue of the breast, mostly in female. At present, drug resistance has emerged in the treatment of breast cancer. Therefore, the discovery of new drugs for breast cancer is particularly important. Some peptides have been found to have anti-cancer effects. This article reviews the recent discoveries of anti-breast cancer peptides, hoping to provide some help for the development of breast cancer treatment.

Abstract: Virus is a type of noncellular organism, which is simple in structure, small in size and contains only one kind of nucleic acid (RNA or DNA). It must be parasitized in living cells and proliferates by replication. Viruses can infect plants or animals, which leads to many epidemic diseases, such as the current pandemic COVID-19. Viral infectious diseases have brought serious threats to the health of people around the world. Natural products are chemical substances that are usually produced by living organisms and have biological or pharmacological activity. Many of these natural products show antiviral activity. Based on the increasing importance of antiviral research, this paper focuses on the discovery and development of antiviral natural products since 2010.

Abstract: Flavonoids, a series of compounds with C6-C3-C6 structure, mostly originate from plant metabolism. Flavonoids have shown beneficial effects on many aspects of human physiology and health. Recently, many flavonoids with various activities have been discovered, which has led to more and more studies focusing on their physiological and pharmacodynamic activities. The anti-cancer and anti-viral activities especially have attracted the attention of many researchers. Therefore, the discovery and development of flavonoids as anti-disease drugs has great potential and may make significant contribution to fighting diseases. This review focus on the discovery and development of flavonoids in medicinal chemistry in recent years.

Abstract: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease, and diabetes patients have long-term higher blood sugar levels than standard. Most people with diabetes have complications that greatly affect their standard of living. Patients with type 2 DM occupy the vast majority of all diabetes patients. Glucagonlike peptide-1 (GLP-1) secreted by intestinal enteroendocrine L-cells is a small molecule polypeptide, which is glucose concentration-dependent and can effectively reduce blood glucose concentration. Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) is an important target for the treatment of type 2 DM because it can degrade GLP-1. DPP-4 inhibitors can enhance the blood glucose lowering effect of GLP-1 by inhibiting DPP-4. This article summarizes the development of DPP-4 inhibitors from 2015 to 2019, and can provide helpful information for the discovery of novel DPP-4 inhibitors in the future.

Abstract: The treatment of cancer has always been a major problem in the world. Some cancers cannot be treated with surgery, but only with cancer drugs. Among many cancer drugs, small molecule inhibitors play an irreplaceable role. HER2 is one of the HER families, and the development of HER2 inhibitors has made a huge contribution to the treatment of cancer. Some HER2 inhibitors are already on the market, and some HER2 inhibitors are undergoing clinical research. The design, synthesis and development of new HER2 inhibitors targeting different targets are also ongoing, and some are even under clinical research. The HER2 inhibitors that are on the market have developed resistance, which brings great challenges to the HER2 inhibitor development in the future. This article reviews the development and challenges of the discovery of HER2 inhibitors.

Abstract: Cancer has now become a common disease affecting human health. Existing cancer treatment drugs can no longer meet the growing needs of cancer patients, and the emergence of anticancer drug resistance has exacerbated this phenomenon. By designing and synthesizing new anticancer peptide nanoparticles and studying their anticancer effects, new strategies for cancer treatment may be obtained. Novel anticancer peptides are synthesized by adding basic amino acids and solid-phase synthesis technology, and their structural information is determined by mass spectrometry. Nanoparticles of anticancer peptide were synthesized by nano-self-assembly technology. Two novel anticancer peptides exhibited anticancer activity, one of which was assembled into nanoparticles. The theoretical isoelectric points of the modified SZG3 and SZG5 are all greater than physiological pH, and will be positively charged under physiological conditions. The estimated half-life of SZG3 and SZG5 is significantly extended (30h), which is beneficial to increase the efficacy and reduce toxic and side effects. SZG3 and SZG5 have a good inhibitory effect on tumor cells and have low toxicity to normal cells. Keywords: anticancer peptide, study, design, cancer, nanoparticles

Abstract: Introduction: Auricular acupressure (AA) has been widely utilized in the management of constipation, with several studies suggesting its efficacy in treating constipation patients. However, the safety and effectiveness of AA in constipation remain uncertain. Hence, the aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness and safety of AA for constipation. Methods and analysis: A total of eight electronic databases and three clinical trial registration platforms were searched from their inception to April 2023 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of AA for constipation. The included studies were appraised for quality using the Cochrane Collaboration’s Risk of Bias Assessment tool. The quality of evidence was assessed by two independent reviewers employing the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation System (GRADE) evaluation tool. Meta-analysis of data and assessment of publication bias were performed using RevMan 5.4 and STATA 13.0 software, respectively. Results: This review included 34 randomized controlled trials conducted between 2007 and 2023, involving 2,465 participants. The findings of the study indicate that overall, AA is significantly associated with improved CSBMs (MD = 1.22, 95% CI [0.68, 1.77], p & lt; 0.0001, I 2 = 0%), BSF (MD = 0.72, 95%CI: [0.15,1.28], p = 0.01, I 2 = 82%), CAS (MD = -3.28, 95%CI: [−5.95, −0.60], p = 0.02, I 2 = 80%), responder rate (RR = 1.27, 95%CI: [1.16, 1.38], p & lt; 0.00001, I 2 = 79%), cure rate (RR = 1.84, 95% CI [1.56, 2.15], p & lt; 0.00001, I 2 = 0%), and PAC-QOL (MD = −2.73, 95% CI: [−3.41, −2.04], p & lt; 0.00001, I 2 = 98%) compared to the control group. However, no difference in PAC-SYM (MD = −0.15, 95%CI: [−0.38,0.07], p = 0.19, I 2 = 67%) was found between the two groups. Additionally, there was no significant difference in adverse events (RR = 0.53, 95% CI: [0.24, 1.21], p = 0.13, I 2 = 38%). Conclusion: Based on the available evidence, auricular acupressure appears to be a potentially safe and effective intervention for managing constipation in adults. Nonetheless, the overall quality of evidence for the identified outcomes was assessed as low to very low, highlighting the need for additional high-quality randomized controlled trials to further validate these findings.
