    Abstract: In the Amazon the fishing is considered an important source of income and animal protein for the people in the region. Among the different fish species that landed in the market and fairs stand out Triportheus albus, T. angulatus and T. auritus. Considering the reduction of some fish stocks in the region, both the quantity and the size of some species, the research proposes to determine the growth parameters, mortality and length-weight relation of these species in floodplain lakes, Manacapuru, AM. The parameters were estimated by analyzing the length frequency distribution with the help of the routine "scan of values of k" method ELEFAN I program FISAT II. The values for each species were: T. albus L∞ = 24.68 cm, k = 0.86/year, Ø '= 2.71, A0.95 = 3.48 years, Mp = 1.76/year, Mt = 0.85/year, Pt = 0.0398I Cp2.6303; T. angulatus L∞ = 26.78 cm, k = 0.77/year, Ø '= 2.74, A0.95 = 3.89 years, Mp = 1.60/year, Mt = 0.76/year, Pt = 0.0294 I Cp2.8599 and T. auritus L∞ = 27.83 cm, k = 0.65/year, Ø '= 2.70, A0.95 = 4.68 years, Mp = 1.40/year, Mt = 0.63/year and Pt = 0.0542I Cp2.5094. These species showed rapid growth, high mortality, low life expectancy and short life cycle. It is suggested the parameters population should be continuously monitored to be used as a tool in the stock analysis.

    Abstract: O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a atividade pesqueira no alto e médio rio Araguari, Estado do Amapá.  Aplicou-se 20 questionários aos pescadores associados à Colônia Z-16, com a finalidade de identificar os apetrechos de pesca, principais espécies capturadas, locais de pesca da atividade pesqueira no período de cheia e seca. A  captura por unidade de esforço (CPUE) foi estimada através de dados de 1695 mapas de pesca do ano de 2003 a 2010. As embarcações foram caracterizadas por batelão e canoa, os principais petrechos descritos pelos pescadores foram o trapo/trapão, tiradeira, a rede de emalhar, bóia, linha de mão, caniço, trapinho, zagaia e tarrafa. As principais espécies explotadas são o H. aimara T.trilobatus, A. inermis M. asterias – Myloplus sp, H. malabaricus, S. rhombeus, Cichla, Pimelodus maculatus, L. trifasciatus, C. inornata, Prosomyleus rhomboidalis, Triportheus brachipomus e C. inornata. Os ambientes de pesca foram caracterizados por remansos, varjão, baixão, poços, corredeiras e igarapés. Os maiores picos de CPUE foi no período da seca, no mês de outubro de 2005 com 105 kg/pescador-1dia. A atividade é caracterizada como pesca artesanal comercial de pequena escala praticada por pescadores interioranos, multiespecífica e multiapetrecho.

    Abstract: http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/2175-7925.2016v29n2p101O conhecimento ecológico tradicional (CET) dos pescadores é uma ferramenta importante para obtenção de informações ecológicas sobre o ambiente que vem sendo cada vez mais utilizada na conservação dos recursos naturais. Nesse contexto, o referido trabalho descreve o CET do pescador sobre a composição da dieta e local de pesca dos pacus (Characiformes: Serrasalmidae) Myloplus sp., Myloplus asterias, Myloplus ternetzi, Tometes trilobatus, Prosomyleus rhomboidalis e Mylesinus paraschomburgkii na Floresta Nacional do Amapá (FLONA-AP). Para a coleta das informações, foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas (n=20 pescadores) e turnê-guiada. Segundo os pescadores, os pacus se alimentam de frutos/sementes, fragmentos vegetais, insetos e perifíton. No inverno, consomem frutos/sementes e fragmento de vegetais. No verão, além de frutos/sementes e fragmentos de vegetais, foi observada presença de perifíton e insetos. Comparando-se as informações dos pescadores com a literatura científica, observam-se similaridades para o período de inverno. Mas, no verão, os pescadores relatam a ingestão de perifíton e invertebrados não mencionados na literatura. Os locais de pesca são caracterizados como sazonais: no inverno a pesca ocorre nos varjões e, no verão, nas pedreiras e calha principal do rio. Os pescadores possuem um conhecimento detalhado sobre a alimentação dos pacus e o grau de refinamento do conhecimento é fundamental para a conservação na FLONA-AP.

    Abstract: The present study estimated parameters of the length-weight relationship (LWR) and allometric condition factor for eight fish species from the upper Araguari River, in the State of Amapá, Brazil. A total of 615 fish of eight species were analyzed: Acestrorhynchus falcatus, A. falcirostris, Ageneiosus inermis, Hemiodus unimaculatus, Hoplias aimara, Myloplus asterias, M. ternetzi and Tometes trilobatus. The allometric condition factor varied from 0.742 to 1.435. The coefficient of allometry ranged from 2.723 to 3.225. The coefficient of determination (R2) of the LWR ranged from 0.742 to 0.985. This is the first estimate of the length-weight relationship for fish from the Araguari River and the first record of these parameters for Myloplus ternetzi and Tometes trilobatus.

    Abstract: Periodical flooding cause strong modifications in Central Amazonian floodplain. Periodical rising and decreasing of the water level influences abiotic and biotic factors of the aquatic environments. During the flooding season, there is a high feed availability, in contrast with dry season in which feed availability is at the lowest level. Limnological parameters also change seasonally. Oxygen concentrations vary both daily and seasonally, sometimes even showing hypoxic conditions. Despite these alterations, floodplain lakes are inhabited by several fish species, having the most diverse and abundant fish fauna among the Amazonian environments. This study focused on Triportheus angulatus feeding in temporal distribution in order to understand the influences of hydrological changes on individual size, diet composition and feeding even in low oxygen concentrations. In rising waters season, small individuals are predominant while the decreasing and the dry seasons there are mostly larger ones. There is a seasonal change on diet composition and this is related to feed type that is more available: during the rising, fishes eat mainly insects and zooplankton; in the flood season and drying season, seeds and fruits are predominant, and at the dry season they eat mainly insects. Feed ingestion was higher in the rising waters and mostly in the flood, and it was lower in the drying season. Feeding activity was not related with oxygen concentrations.

    Abstract: SUMMARY This paper concerns about the historic of the Fish/Fishery Department development at INPA — Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia. Now a day, this Department is formed by six divisions. The Division of Fishery do the evaluation of the fish stock ay using catch and landing data, field observations on catch methods, behaviour of fishing fleet, etc... The Division of Fish Biology takes place on systematic characterization of amazonian fish species, the study of food and feeding habits and reproduction according to the annual water level cycling, the differences on fish fauna related to the main types of water, as well as parasitology and icthyopathology. The Division of Aquatic Ecology analyses the limnological data of lakes and rivers of the amazonian region related to different types of water; special attention has been given to aquatic macrophites and its potential utilization in agriculture as fertilizer and cattle food. The Division of Fish Technology analyses the chemical composition of regional fishes, it develops preservation methods like as salting, drying and curing as well as quality control standards. The Division of Fish Culture develops culture methods of regional fishes, the study of natural and artificial ways of reproduction and experiments with different food formulations. The Division of Aquatic Mammals studies the biology, ecology and physiology of peixe-boi (manatee) and two species of river dolphins.

    Abstract: Summary In this paper feeding habits and reproduction of pbout 20 species of fishes collected at igarapé do Porto, Aripuanã, MT, during the beginning of high water season, are discussed Based on the data obtained from analysis of stomach and intestinal contents, comments are made on food habits, food preferences, and distribution of the fish in the biotopes studies According to these data it was possible to situate the species in the different trophic levels recognized within each biotope. Included also are some observation concerning the breeding season of the species studies.

    Abstract: The co-management of fishery resources developed by Amazonian riverine people is concerned with the maintenance of suitable environments for fish stock conservation. This type of co-management strategy is based on rules of access and use for fishery resources. In this research we investigated the influence of using lakes (preserved and managed for subsistence) and its distance from the river (near and far) in the structure of the fish assemblages associated with floating meadows bank in floodplain lakes, Central Amazonian. Fish were caught during flood period using seine nets in six lakes in a distance ranging from 0.87 to 10.9 km from the river. In floating meadows bank were captured a total of 623 specimens of fish, over 56 species. The analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) indicates that the co-management of lakes and distance did not influence significantly the ecological attributes of fish assemblages (abundance, richness, total weight, Shannon-Weaver and Berger-Parker diversity, evenness and dominance). According to analysis of similarity (ANOSIM) there was no difference in species composition among the lakes. These results suggest other factors, such as: short time of effective management, the agriculture as the most important economic activity of subsistence, the lack of fisheries in large-scale which cause significant environmental changes and the existence of an ecological factor of great intensity, "the flood pulse", overlapping others of less intensity.

    Abstract: No Amazonas a pesca é uma das principais atividades econômicas e de maior valor tradicional para as comunidades ribeirinhas da região. Estas têm conhecimentos sobre a bioecologia dos peixes que exploram, pois praticam a atividade pesqueira diariamente, o que torna esse conhecimento fortalecido ao longo das gerações. O estudo tem por objetivo verificar se o conhecimento tradicional dos pescadores ribeirinhos, sobre a dieta alimentar de tambaqui, tucunaré, pacu, acará-açú, curimatã, aruanã, matrinxã, piranha e pirapitinga, é similar com aquele levantado em laboratório. Para tal, foram realizados em comunidades dos lagos Jaitêua e São Lourenço no complexo Lago Grande de Manacapuru, no período agosto de 2006 a outubro de 2008, questionários sobre os alimentos dos peixes, aplicados a 62 pescadores. O estudo aponta um detalhado conhecimento dos pescadores acerca da alimentação dos 9 tipos de peixes que são similares, no período de cheia, com os resultados obtidos em laboratório e em pesquisas literárias durante esta investigação. O estudo conclui que o conhecimento dos pescadores do Lago Grande é de fundamental importância para o entendimento da biologia pesqueira e podem ser usados como subsídios para políticas de manejo da pesca em lagos de várzeas quando agregados ao conhecimento científico.
