Abstract:
The Flint Hills of Kansas are impacted by prescribed burning each spring; there were 2.1 million acres burned in 2022 Particulate matter (PM 2.5 ) concentrations substantially increased on days impacted by smoke from fires in eastern Kansas compared to days without smoke PM 2.5 from smoke reaches a maximum overnight in eastern Kansas; this time period is not captured by satellite observations
