    Abstract: The main enemy in rice production is the attack of stinky bugs, brown planthoppers, grasshoppers, ladybugs, aphids, and others. This attack inhibits the growth of rice plants, thereby reducing production or even thwarting the harvest. Chemical pesticide application can reduce pests and diseases. However, the long-term use of chemical pesticides can disrupt the ecosystem. This study aims to study the application of plant-based pesticides to the presence of pests and predatory insects for rice plants. The research was begun with the preparation of citronella-based pesticide from citronella extract obtained by mixing citronella with water at a weight ratio of 2:1. The extract was mixed with water at a ratio of 1 liter for 50 ml of citronella extract. The application of the prepared pesticide was carried out by spraying 21-DAP (day after planting) rice plants at two plots sizing 400 m 2 each. The types and numbers of pests and predatory insects were observed before every pesticide application. Spraying was repeated weekly for the following 4 weeks. Results showed a decrease of insects in experimental plots A and B after the application of pesticides. After the fourth application, only one type of insect (green grasshopper) was found in plot A, and no insect was found in plot B. However, four types of insects were found in the control plot. The application of citronella-based pesticides is also related to the decrease of predatory insects’ population.

    Abstract: A two-stage thermal upgrading process with the addition of 10 wt.% sodium sulfate and sodium chloride followed by magnetic separation was conducted for treatment low-grade nickeliferous laterite ore to produce a ferronickel product. The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effect of reduction temperature and holding time in two-stage thermal upgrading process, which was carried out from 950°C to 1150°C for 30 to 90 minutes, into the grade and recovery of nickel also the morphology of ferronickel particle. A wet magnetic separation with 500 gauss magnet was conducted to produce ferronickel in concentrate. Increasing the reduction temperature of nickel laterite increased the nickel grade and recovery. The nickel grade and recovery also increased along with the longer holding time in the reduction process. Nevertheless, it decreased the iron recovery.

    Abstract: Lampung Province has many manganese ore resources that have not been fully utilized. According to Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources regulation no. 5 of 2017, manganese ore is prohibited from being exported before the ore is processed into a concentrate with 49% manganese content. The type of mineral contained in manganese ore used in this experiment is pyrolusite (MnO2). The method used to improve the Mn content used in this experiment is to reduce roasting. The reducing agent in this experiment is 25% palm kernel. The roasting process is carried out at 1000 °C, 1100 °C and 1200 °C. Meanwhile, the holding time varies from 30 to 150 minutes. The results obtained from baking are characterized using XRF to determine the final product content. XRD and SEM-EDS are used for the result identification phase. The highest content of manganese was 41.28% by weight obtained after baked at 1100 °C for 120 minutes with the formed phase being Mn 2 SiO 4 .

    Abstract: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan seberapa kuat hubungan antara karakteristik individu dan karakteristik lingkungan dengan aspirasi pada pemuda yang bekerja di agroindustri perikanan di Desa Puger Wetan, Kecamatan Puger, Kabupaten Jember. Pada penelitian ini, rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah jenis penelitian survai (survey research), dalam penelitian ini sebagai unit analisisnya adalah pemuda di desa puger wetan yang berjumlah 34 pemuda. Informasi atau data tentang karakteristik individu, karakteristik lingkungan dan aspirasi diperoleh berdasarkan pandangan, tanggapan, dan persepsi dari pemuda. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode sampel yang representatif, cara pengambilan sampel menggunakan proporsional random dengan cara diundi, dimana pada daerah penelitian terdapat empat agroidustri perikanan dengan jumlah pemuda yang berbeda-beda. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis korelasi.Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah Karakteristik individu dan Karakteristik lingkungan. Sedangkan variabel terikatnya adalah Aspirasi.Berdasarkan pengujian koefisien korelasi Asosiasi Eta Terdapat hubungan yang nyata positif antara status jenis kelamin dengan aspirasi, pengujian koefisien korelasi Asosiasi Eta Terdapat hubungan yang nyata positif antara status perkawinan dengan aspirasi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis koefisien korelasi Spearman’s rho Tidak terdapat hubungan yang nyata antara usia dengan aspirasi dan Tidak terdapat hubungan yang nyata antara tingkat pendidikan dengan aspirasi. Sedangkan berdasarkan analisis korelasi Pearson Product Moment Terdapat hubungan yang nyata positif antara karakteristik lingkungan dengan aspirasi.

    Abstract: In this present work, the selective reduction of nickel laterite was conducted by using 10 wt. % of sodium carbonate, sodium chloride and sodium sulphate as additives. The 5 wt. % of palm shell charcoal was used as the reductant. The selective reduction process for nickel laterite was carried out from 950ºC to 1150ºC for 60 minutes followed by wet magnetic separation using 500 Gausses permanent magnet. The characterization of reduced ore was performed by X-Ray Diffraction, optical microscope and Scanning Electron Microscope with Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy, while the chemical composition of concentrate or ferronickel was identified by X-Ray Fluorescence. The results showed that the nickel grade was increased with the increasing of reduction temperature for nickel ore with sodium sulfate additive. Nevertheless, it was relatively constant for sodium carbonate and sodium chloride additive. Nickel recoveries found increased with the increasing of reduction temperatures of nickel ore with sodium-based additives. The ferronickel particle was agglomerated and growth with the increasing of reduction temperature, thus it provided favourable conditions for the separation of ferronickel from impurities in the magnetic separation process.

    Abstract: Latar Belakang: Kebiasaan makan merupakan tingkah laku manusia terhadap makanan yang meliputi sikap, kepercayaan, dan pemilihan dalam mengonsumsi makanan yang terjadi secara berulang-ulang.Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kebiasaan makan pada mahasiswa di Universitas Diponegoro.Metode: Penelitian observasional dengan rancangan cross sectional. Subjek adalah 110 mahasiswa Universitas Diponegoro berusia 19 – 22 tahun diambil dengan cara consecutive sampling. Data jenis kelamin,  pengetahuan gizi, uang saku, tempat tinggal, pengaruh teman sebaya, asal sumber pangan (karbohidrat, protein hewani, protein nabati, sayur, dan buah), kebiasaan makan daerah asal, dan pantangan makan diperoleh dengan menggunakan kuesioner penelitian, data kebiasaan makan diperoleh menggunakan Adolescent Food Habits Checklist. Data dianalisis statistika secara univariat dan bivariat menggunakan metode Chi-square.Hasil: Sebagian besar subjek (85,5%) memiliki kebiasaan makan yang tidak sehat sedangkan 14,5% lainnya memiliki kebiasaan makan yang sehat. Terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan gizi, cara mendapatkan makanan sumber zat gizi berupa karbohidrat, protein hewani, protein nabati, sayur, dan buah dengan kebiasaan makan mahasiswa (p = 0,043, p = 0,005, p = 0,002, p = 0,001, p = 0,010, p = 0,018). Tidak terdapat hubungan antara jenis kelamin, uang saku, tempat tinggal, pengaruh teman sebaya, kebiasaan makan daerah asal, dan pantangan makan dengan kebiasaan makan mahasiswa (p 〉 0,05)Simpulan: Pengetahuan gizi dan cara mendapatkan makanan (karbohidrat, protein hewani, protein nabati, sayur, dan buah) merupakan faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kebiasaan makan mahasiswa Universitas Diponegoro.

    Abstract: Currently, the healing process of traumatic oral ulcers is assisted by chemical drugs that aim to stimulate the wound healing process; one of which is angiogenesis. However, long-term use can cause side effects. Therfore, alternative materials with minimal side effects are needed inter alia bay leaf. This study aimed to determine the effect of bay leaf gel extract on increasing angiogenesis in the healing process of traumatic oral ulcers. Samples were Wistar rats according to the inclusion criteria, divided into three groups, namely K group, the control group (treated with carbomer gel);  P1, treated with 5% bay leaf extract gel; and P1, treated with 10% bay leaf extract gel. Data were analyzed with the Kolmogorov Smirnov normality test, the Levene's test for homogeneity, and were continued with the parametric One-Way Anova and Post Hoc Least Significant Difference tests. The results indicated that there was an effect of bay leaf gel extract on increasing angiogenesis process in the healing process of traumatic ulcers. Treatment with 10% bay leaf extract gel (P2 group) had a significant effect (p 〈 0.05) in increasing angiogenesis compared to the K group and the P1 group. In conclusion, bay leaf extract gel has an effect on increasing angiogenesis in the healing process of traumatic ulcers. Keywords: traumatic ulcer; bay leaf extract gel; angiogenesis   Abstrak: Saat ini, proses penyembuhan ulser traumatik dibantu dengan pemberian obat-obatan kimia yang bertujuan untuk merangsang proses penyembuhan luka, salah satunya angiogenesis. Namun penggunaan dalam jangka panjang dapat menimbulkan efek samping. Untuk itu diperlukan bahan alternatif dengan efek samping minimal antara lain daun salam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak gel daun salam terhadap peningkatan angiogenesis pada proses penyembuhan ulser traumatik. Sampel penelitian ialah tikus wistar sesuai kriteria inklusi dan dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok yaitu kelompok K, kelompok kontrol (perlakuan dengan gel carbomer); P1, kelompok perlakuan dengan gel ekstrak daun salam 5%; dan P2,  dengan perlakuan gel ekstrak daun salam 10% . Analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas Kolmogorov-Smirnov, uji homogenitas Levene, dan dilanjutkan dengan uji parametrik One-Way Anova dan Post Hoc Least Significant Difference. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh pemberian ekstrak gel daun salam terhadap peningkatan proses angiogenesis pada proses penyembuhan ulser traumatik. Gel ekstrak daun salam 10% memiliki pengaruh yang bermakna (p 〈 0,05) dalam peningkatan angiogenesis dibandingkan kelompok kontrol (K) dan perlakuan gel ekstrak daun salam 5%. (P1) Simpulan penelitian ini ialah gel ekstrak daun salam berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan angiogenesis dalam proses penyembuhan ulser traumatik.
