    Abstract: Breast cancer is now the most common malignant tumor worldwide. About one-fourth of female cancer patients all over the world suffer from breast cancer. And about one in six female cancer deaths worldwide is caused by breast cancer. In terms of absolute numbers of cases and deaths, China ranks first in the world. The CACA Guidelines for Holistic Integrative Management of Breast Cancer were edited to help improve the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment in China. Methods The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) was used to classify evidence and consensus. Results The CACA Guidelines for Holistic Integrative Management of Breast Cancer include the epidemiology of breast cancer, breast cancer screening, breast cancer diagnosis, early breast cancer treatment, advanced breast cancer treatment, follow-up, rehabilitation, and traditional Chinese medicine treatment of breast cancer patients. Conclusion We to standardize the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer in China through the formulation of the CACA Guidelines.

    Abstract: To compare computed tomography arteriography (CTA) and digital subtraction arteriography (DSA) in the diagnosis of superior mesenteric artery dissecting aneurysm (SMADA). Methods All SMADA patients who underwent CTA and DSA at one of two medical centers between May, 2007 and April, 2017 were identified. The accuracy of CTA and DSA for the depiction of morphologic characteristics of SMADA was analyzed. Results Fourteen patients (12 men; mean age, 55.1 ± 6.4 years) were included in this study. The mean diameter of the dissecting aneurysm was 3.78 ± 1.53 mm on CTA and 3.81 ± 1.54 mm on DSA ( p = 0.96). The luminal stenosis was 0.52 ± 0.27 on CTA and 0.35 ± 0.23 on DSA ( p = 0.09). The thrombosed false lumen was visualized on CTA in 79% (11/14) of patients but in no patients on DSA ( p 〈 0.001). The entry points of the dissection were visualized on CTA in 64.3% (9/14) of patients and on DSA in 100% (14/14) of patients ( p = 0.041); CTA and DSA did not visualize re-entry points in any patients. The intimal flap was visualized on CTA in 71.4% (10/14) of patients and on DSA in 78.6% (11/14) of patients ( p  〉  0.05). Branch vessel involvement was visualized in 7.1% (1/14) of patients on CTA but in no patients on DSA ( p  〉  0.05). Conclusions CTA can be used in place of DSA for the diagnosis of SMADA. Although CTA may exaggerate the degree of luminal stenosis and is weak in depicting the entry points of SMADA, this modality more accurately depicts the thrombosed false lumen and branch vessel involvement.

    Abstract: Stress-induced alterations in central neuron metabolism and function are crucial contributors to depression onset. However, the metabolic dysfunctions of the neurons associated with depression and specific molecular mechanisms remain unclear. This study initially analyzed the relationship between cholesterol and depression using the NHANES database. We then induced depressive-like behaviors in mice via restraint stress. Applying bioinformatics, pathology, and molecular biology, we observed the pathological characteristics of brain cholesterol homeostasis and investigated the regulatory mechanisms of brain cholesterol metabolism disorders. Through the NHANES database, we initially confirmed a significant correlation between cholesterol metabolism abnormalities and depression. Furthermore, based on successful stress mouse model establishment, we discovered the number of cholesterol-related DEGs significantly increased in the brain due to stress, and exhibited regional heterogeneity. Further investigation of the frontal cortex, a brain region closely related to depression, revealed stress caused significant disruption to key genes related to cholesterol metabolism, including HMGCR, CYP46A1, ACAT1, APOE, ABCA1, and LDLR, leading to an increase in total cholesterol content and a significant decrease in synaptic proteins PSD-95 and SYN. This indicates cholesterol metabolism affects neuronal synaptic plasticity and is associated with stress-induced depressive-like behavior in mice. Adeno-associated virus interference with NR3C1 in the prefrontal cortex of mice subjected to short-term stress resulted in reduced protein levels of NRIP1, NR1H2, ABCA1, and total cholesterol content. At the same time, it increased synaptic proteins PSD95 and SYN, effectively alleviating depressive-like behavior. Therefore, these results suggest that short-term stress may induce cholesterol metabolism disorders by activating the NR3C1/NRIP1/NR1H2 signaling pathway. This impairs neuronal synaptic plasticity and consequently participates in depressive-like behavior in mice. These findings suggest that abnormal cholesterol metabolism in the brain induced by stress is a significant contributor to depression onset.

    Abstract: Alpha‐lipoic acid (ALA), a multifunctional antioxidant, can promote fatty acid mobilization, energy expenditure and scavenge free radicals. The effects of dietary ALA on the reproductive performance of breeder hens were investigated in the current study. In the 5‐week experiment, 180 54‐week‐old Qiling breeder hens were randomly divided into three treatments with five replicates and supplemented with three levels of ALA (0, 300 and 600 mg/kg) in the basic corn‐soya bean meal diets. 600 mg/kg ALA treatment group (HLA) significantly improved the eggshell thickness and strength ( p  〈   .05). ALA‐treated groups improved egg‐laying rate compared with the CON group, but with no statistically significant difference ( p   〉  .05). The levels of HDL‐C, ALB and estradiol (E2) of the serum in the HLA group were elevated compared with the CON group ( p  〈   .05). In addition, ALA (600 mg/kg) treatment exhibited a reduced level of serum AST and TG ( p  〈   .05). Dietary ALA increased the activity of hepatic lipase in liver ( p  〈   .05). Supplemental 600 mg/kg ALA also improved the SOD activity and total antioxidant capacity level, along with a decreased MDA in ovarian tissue ( p  〈   .05). Furthermore, the mRNA expressions of ESR1 , ESR2 , VTG2 and ApoB in the liver and FSHR in follicles were upregulated in the HLA group ( p  〈   .05). In conclusion, dietary supplementation with 600 mg/kg ALA during the late egg‐laying period could improve lipid metabolism and reproductive performance of breeder hens.

    Abstract: The fretting fatigue crack formation and propagation behaviors of Ni‐based single‐crystal (NBSX) superalloys are investigated in this paper. Subsurface crack formation process is revealed by in situ fretting fatigue experiment. The crack is observed to form on subsurface area, then propagates to the contact surface. Inclusions in materials are found to have obvious effects on crack propagation, and slip lines are closely related to the crack propagation direction. Crystal plastic finite element method (CPFEM) simulation is used to simulate crack formation position. The accumulative plastic strain peaks at the edge of contact zone and the subsurface area. The results show that the CPFEM simulation and in situ observation achieve good agreements.

    Abstract: Three dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy has become increasingly useful in the detection of organic pollutants. However, this approach is limited by decreased accuracy in identifying low concentration pollutants. In this research, a new identification method for organic pollutants in drinking water is accordingly proposed using three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy data and a deep learning algorithm. A novel application of a convolutional autoencoder was designed to process high-dimensional fluorescence data and extract multi-scale features from the spectrum of drinking water samples containing organic pollutants. Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), an implementation of gradient-boosted decision trees, was used to identify the organic pollutants based on the obtained features. Method identification performance was validated on three typical organic pollutants in different concentrations for the scenario of accidental pollution. Results showed that the proposed method achieved increasing accuracy, in the case of both high-( 〉 10 μg/L) and low-(≤10 μg/L) concentration pollutant samples. Compared to traditional spectrum processing techniques, the convolutional autoencoder-based approach enabled obtaining features of enhanced detail from fluorescence spectral data. Moreover, evidence indicated that the proposed method maintained the detection ability in conditions whereby the background water changes. It can effectively reduce the rate of misjudgments associated with the fluctuation of drinking water quality. This study demonstrates the possibility of using deep learning algorithms for spectral processing and contamination detection in drinking water.

    Abstract: Spermatogenesis and hormones secretions are crucial endocrine and physiological process for maintaining the life. Royal Jelly (RJ) bioactive components are Major Royal Jelly Proteins (MRJPs), owing exceptional biological properties. However, the effects of RJ on pup’s testicular development during neonatal and pubertal period exposure hasn’t been adequately studied. The aim of the study was to detect neonatal sexual hormones concentration and histopathological changes on testicular development of the male progeny after oral exposure to freeze-dried RJ for 35 consecutive days. After mice give birth, male pups were collected together, separated by sex, and randomly standardized to seven (7) male pups per dam. Male pups were assigned to control diet (CON group), low dose RJ (L-RJ group) diet (control diet + 125 mg/kg/day RJ), moderate dose RJ (M-RJ group) diet (control diet + 250 mg/kg/day RJ) and high dose of RJ (H-RJ group) diet (control diet + 500 mg/kg/day RJ). After weaning, male pups were continuously fed with freeze-dried RJ until the age of PNDs 35. The results revealed that, oral M-RJ (250 mg/kg/day) administration significantly (p 〈 0.05) increased the testis weight, the diameter of seminiferous tubule and the height of seminiferous epithelium of offspring mice at PNDs 14. However, high-dose RJ (500 mg/kg/day) decreased the diameter of seminiferous tubule but increased the height of seminiferous epithelium of male offspring (p 〈 0.05) at the same time point. Furthermore, oral M-RJ treatment significantly (p 〈 0.05) increased the testis weight and spermatogenesis at PNDs 21. Whereas, oral H-RJ treatment significantly (p 〈 0.05) reduced the diameter of seminiferous tubule and the height of seminiferous epithelium at PNDs 21. At PNDs 35, oral M-RJ treatment increased the testis weight, the diameter of seminiferous tubule and the level of FSH. While, high-dose of RJ reduced testis weight and size (diameter of seminiferous tubule and height of seminiferous epithelium), ratio of apoptotic germ cells and incomplete spermatogenesis collectively. In addition, sexual hormone secretions (FSH, LH, E2) were decreased after RJs treatment (L-RJ, M-RJ, H-RJ) at PNDs 21 respectively. In conclusion, the results concluded that oral administration of low and moderate doses of RJ could enhance the development of testis at neonate period until pubescent, whereas unfavorable adverse effects induced by high dose of RJ might remain.
