    Abstract: Abstract: Vedanta divides its investigation of human uniqueness into five koshas, or strata. It reveals the underlying building blocks of the macrocosm and the universe. It reveals to us the body as a tool for the mind and the soul, from the obvious features of the physical body to the more subtle aspects of the psyche and awareness. It distinguishes each component, demonstrates its functionality, and demonstrates the interrelationships of the several components. It is commonly referred to as Pancha-koshavishleshana, which is the study of the five sheaths and is based on the Taittiriya Upanishad, as the model of the individual or conceptualization of the person.

    Abstract: Background: Menopause is an inevitable reproductive phase during midlife when various physical and mental changes may impair the quality of life of women. The presence and severity of symptoms vary tremendously from woman to woman and can last from months to years during this transitional period. This study was conducted to assess the quality of life and menopause related problems among post-menopausal women residing rural and urban areas of Sikkim.Methods: Descriptive explorative study was done in East Sikkim among 120 rural and urban post-menopausal women who were in the age group of 45 years and above, had attained natural menopause and didn’t have menstruation from last one year, were selected through purposive sampling technique. Women with induced menopause, hysterectomy, receiving hormonal treatment were excluded. Along with collection of socio-demographic data, the Menopause Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire was used to assess the Quality of life based on experience of the symptoms through interview technique.Results: The mean menopausal age was 48±3.649 years in rural area and 47±3.831 years for urban area. The mean scores in quality of life between post-menopausal women in rural areas (M=136.6, SD=28.78) were found significantly impaired and the difference was found statistically significant (t=5.75 p 〈 0.001) which shows that rural women were having impaired quality of life as compared to urban women during post-menopausal period. The findings also revealed that factors affecting the quality of life of postmenopausal women were the history of menopause, occupation of women, in urban women and time of attending menopause, in rural women.Conclusions: The present study shows that menopause related symptoms had a negative effect on the quality of life of the post-menopausal women. Such studies can help in creating awareness and in educating women on the early identification of the common menopausal symptoms.

    Abstract: SARS-CoV-2 infection is associated with persistent, relapsing, or new symptoms or other health effects occurring after acute infection, termed postacute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), also known as long COVID . Characterizing PASC requires analysis of prospectively and uniformly collected data from diverse uninfected and infected individuals. Objective To develop a definition of PASC using self-reported symptoms and describe PASC frequencies across cohorts, vaccination status, and number of infections. Design, Setting, and Participants Prospective observational cohort study of adults with and without SARS-CoV-2 infection at 85 enrolling sites (hospitals, health centers, community organizations) located in 33 states plus Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico. Participants who were enrolled in the RECOVER adult cohort before April 10, 2023, completed a symptom survey 6 months or more after acute symptom onset or test date. Selection included population-based, volunteer, and convenience sampling. Exposure SARS-CoV-2 infection. Main Outcomes and Measures PASC and 44 participant-reported symptoms (with severity thresholds). Results A total of 9764 participants (89% SARS-CoV-2 infected; 71% female; 16% Hispanic/Latino; 15% non-Hispanic Black; median age, 47 years [IQR, 35-60]) met selection criteria. Adjusted odds ratios were 1.5 or greater (infected vs uninfected participants) for 37 symptoms. Symptoms contributing to PASC score included postexertional malaise, fatigue, brain fog, dizziness, gastrointestinal symptoms, palpitations, changes in sexual desire or capacity, loss of or change in smell or taste, thirst, chronic cough, chest pain, and abnormal movements. Among 2231 participants first infected on or after December 1, 2021, and enrolled within 30 days of infection, 224 (10% [95% CI, 8.8%-11%] ) were PASC positive at 6 months. Conclusions and Relevance A definition of PASC was developed based on symptoms in a prospective cohort study. As a first step to providing a framework for other investigations, iterative refinement that further incorporates other clinical features is needed to support actionable definitions of PASC.

    Abstract: Renal Cell Carcinoma is a common type of renal cancer-causing deaths worldwide which is characterized by sustained angiogenesis. VEGF and its receptors play a major role in physiologic and pathologic angiogenesis, which is marked in tumour progression and metastasis development. Induction of VEGF genes occur due to hypoxic condition induced by tumour growth after a critical size in cancerous cell. Signal transduction networks originated by VEGFA/VEGFR2, (a notable ligand-receptor complex in the VEGF system) leads to major angiogenesis events ranging from endothelial cell proliferation, to new vessel formation, Furthermore, differential expression of VEGF-VEGFR mRNA also found in different types of RCC. Aim: The aim of present study is to inhibit the VEGFR2 protein by the action of certain inhibitors and then to search an efficient inhibitor. Materials and Methods: A total of 23 potential inhibitors were searched and used to target the protein using the concept of molecular docking. Among 23 inhibitors, CHEMBL346631 shows best affinity with the target protein and was used for high throughput virtual screening to find similar compounds. The compound obtained from virtual screeningSCHEMBL469307, shows much more better affinity with VEGFR2 than CHEMBL346631. Conclusion: Relative study for both the compounds showed a minor difference in relevant properties. The compound SCHEMBL469307 have a high potential to inhibit the VGFR2 protein and can be backed for future studies in Renal Cell Carcinoma.

    Abstract: Organic bulk heterojunction solar cells are a promising candidate for low-cost next-generation photovoltaic systems. In bulk heterojunction polymer solar cells, conjugated polymers and fullerene derivatives [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) function as the electron-donating and electron-accepting materials, respectively. In this paper, we report the photovoltaic response of the solution-processed bulk heterojunction (BHJ) solar cell based on poly (2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene) (MEH-PPV): modified PCBM (MPCBM) blend. The BHJ showed power conversion efficiency (PCE) up to 1.78%. The PCE has been further improved up to 1.95% after thermal annealing of the active layer. The increase in the PCE with the thermally annealed blend is mainly attributed to the improvement in incident photon to current efficiency (IPCE) and short circuit photocurrent (J sc ).

    Abstract: Bisphenol A (BPA) is one of the emerging contaminants associated with deleterious health effects on both public and wildlife and is extensively incorporated into different industrial products. BPA is ubiquitously and frequently detected in the environment and has become a serious health issue due to its presence in food organisms and drinking water. The distribution of BPA has recently become an important issue worldwide, but investigations on the toxicity of BPA remain limited. A review of the literature reveals that BPA has a widespread presence in environmental media, such as indoor dust, surface water, sediments, and sewage sludge. In the present review, an overview of the research studies dealing with the occurrence, fate, exposure, and toxicity of BPA is discussed. Recent studies have raised worry over the potentially harmful implications of BPA exposure in humans and wildlife. However, further investigation on the potential risks of BPA to humans and its mechanisms of toxicity should be conducted to better understand and control the risks of such novel chemicals.

    Abstract: We identified 11 conserved stretches in over 6.3 million SARS-CoV-2 genomes including all the major variants of concerns. Each conserved stretch is ≥100 nucleotides in length with ≥99.9% conservation at each nucleotide position. Interestingly, six of the eight conserved stretches in ORF1ab overlapped significantly with well-folded experimentally verified RNA secondary structures. Furthermore, two of the conserved stretches were mapped to regions within the S2-subunit that undergo dynamic structural rearrangements during viral fusion. In addition, the conserved stretches were significantly depleted for zinc-finger antiviral protein (ZAP) binding sites, which facilitated the recognition and degradation of viral RNA. These highly conserved stretches in the SARS-CoV-2 genome were poorly conserved at the nucleotide level among closely related β-coronaviruses, thus representing ideal targets for highly specific and discriminatory diagnostic assays. Our findings highlight the role of structural constraints at both RNA and protein levels that contribute to the sequence conservation of specific genomic regions in SARS-CoV-2.

    Abstract: A 37-year-old Indian female presented with forward protrusion of left eye for one week, associated with progressive diminution of vision. The patient had undergone sinus surgery for nasal polyposis a year ago. On examination, there was severe proptosis and limitation of extraocular movements in all gazes. CT-scan revealed a heterogeneous expansile mass, arising from left fronto-ethmoidal sinus, infiltrating left orbit. MRI showed T2-hyperintense, peripherally enhancing areas in bilateral nasal cavity (right 〉 left), bilateral ethmoidal sinuses and frontal, sphenoidal and maxillary sinuses. Otorhinolaryngology consultation was sought and in view of vision threatening proptosis — with likely orbital compartment syndrome — emergent endoscopic guided exploration and orbital decompression was undertaken. Rapid relief of signs and symptoms was achieved, with normal vision, extraocular movements and resolution of proptosis. Cytology and microbiology ruled out infectious or malignant aetiology and helped in resolving a diagnostic dilemma. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of mucopyocele and follow-up period was uneventful.
