Abstract: Objectives: To evaluate the incidence of serum vitamin D insufficiency in patients with psoriasis and study the relationship between dietary intake of vitamin D and clinical characteristics. Materials and Methods: Totally eighty individuals were enrolled and were equally divided into two groups (40 patients in each group): Group A consisted of psoriasis patients, whereas Group B consisted of controls. By using the PASI scale, psoriasis plaques were identified and assessed. The predesign questionnaire was developed and was given to each participant to complete it. Age, gender, the length of the psoriasis, concurrent illnesses, and medications were among the collected data. A dermatologist examined all of the patients and gathered information about their demographics, health, and any other pertinent information. Blood samples were taken to measure the level of serum vitamin D using the immuno-enzyme method. All measurements were conducted during winter months to avoid the influence of sun exposure on synthesis of vitamin D3 and its derivative 25-hydroxycholecalciferol. SPSS (v 25.0) was used for analysis and the results were shown in the form of graph and table. Results: Statistically significant difference was found in 25(OH) D3 levels between psoriasis affected individuals and healthy individuals. Both groups have low level of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol. In our results there is negative correlation between 25(OH) D3 and PASI. There is also a negative correlation between 25(OH) D3 and duration of psoriasis. Practical implication: This study will help the clinical practitioner to advise the patients with psoriasis to use enough amounts of vitamin D3 that will help to normalize the vitamin D level in patients. It is believed that psoriasis can cause a progressive decrease in the level of vitamin D3 derivatives in the whole human body, including the skin. So vitamin D rich food must be eaten in high amount. Conclusion: It is found in this study that both the groups have low serum vitamin D3 level. Both the general public and persons with psoriasis should eat enough amounts of vitamin D3. Keywords: PASI, vitamin D3, Psoriasis, serum, antiproliferative,

Abstract: Background: Recessively inherited X-linked Ichthyosis (XLI) is the second most generic form of Ichthyosis and is characterized by scaly, dry, thickened, and mild erupted skin. It is caused by a mutation in the STS gene ensuing lower production of Steroid sulfatase. A current study was performed to characterize XLI and its complications in patients of Bajaur Agency, Pakistan. We also wanted to record critical factors affecting the progression of XLI. Methods: An Ichthyosis examination questionnaire was prepared and detailed information about the symptoms and management was recorded from 51 affected male patients of 17 families. Personal data such as age and gender were also recorded. Results: Our results indicate that 53% of the patients were collodion while other symptoms appeared in the first month after birth. Almost every part of the patient has symptoms of the disease; scales were found on the extensor and flexor muscles (98%) of limbs followed by the ears (82.53%). All the patients had normal nails, palms and soles. Conclusion: The age of the patients seems to have a significant effect on the color of the scales changing from white to brown to blackish. The disease progresses with the age and worsens in cold, dry seasons. The pedigrees of all families show that disease passes from generation to generation according to the classical X-linked recessive inheritance. We recommend early diagnosis and treatment for effective management of the condition. Further work is required to elucidate the genetic, biochemical, and environmental factors involved in the disease.

Abstract: This research paper delves into the novel "The Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad, examining it through a post-colonial lens to explore the themes of liberation and the impact of colonialism on various aspects of life. The analysis chapter investigates crucial subtopics such as the dream-like existence and passivity of the colonial settlers, the exploitation of power and the weaknesses of the colonized, the lives of subalterns, the imposition of new systems, and the loss of freedom. Additionally, it examines the darkness of life and the insignificance of native culture, along with the legitimization of invasion and occupation and the voice of resistance. The study adopts a qualitative research methodology, drawing on post-colonial theories presented by scholars such as Edward Said, Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, Homi K. Bhabha, and Frantz Fanon (Said, 1978; Spivak, 1993; Bhabha, 2008; Fanon, 2008). These theories serve as a theoretical framework, guiding the textual analysis to uncover and interpret post-colonial structures and themes present in the novel. By employing these perspectives, the study seeks to understand the complexities of colonial relationships, encompassing traditions, norms, identity, culture, and experiences depicted in the portrayal of both colonizers and the colonized. The main analytical tool used in this research is Edward Said's theory of Orientalism, supplemented by insights from other post-colonial theorists (Edward, 1978). The data collection process involves a comprehensive study of the novel and the selected theories, and relevant text materials from the novel are carefully chosen based on the elements of the adopted theories. The primary sources of data include Joseph Conrad's "The Heart of Darkness," as well as the works of Spivak, Said, Bhabha, and Fanon (Conrad, 1902; Said, 1978; Spivak, 1993; Bhabha, 2008; Fanon, 2008). The research paper presents a qualitative data analysis technique, focusing on themes such as orientalism, racism, identity, subalternity, and hybridity. After thorough examination and interpretation of the novel's text in light of the selected theories, the paper offers critical insights into the post-colonial elements present in "The Heart of Darkness." This study contributes to the broader understanding of post-colonial literature and highlights the lasting impacts of colonialism on both the colonized and the colonizers.

Abstract: The purpose of the study is to analyze the impact of the Publication Timeline, i.e. Submission to First Decision and Submission to Acceptance on Journal Metrics, i.e. Impact Factor (IF) and 5-year IF. Design/methodology/approach Data related to the IF and 5-year IF were retrieved from Clarivate Analytics’ Journal Citation Report 2020. The Publication Timeline of each journal was ascertained through their respective websites. To attain the model fit summary, an analysis of variance (ANOVA) test was performed. Regression analysis was also performed on the models using SPSS 21 software to ascertain the nature and degree of impact the Publication Timeline (Submission to First Decision and Submission to Acceptance) has on Journal Metrics (IF and 5-year IF). Findings Submission to First Decision has a significant inverse relationship with both the IF and 5-year IF, whereas Submission to Acceptance has a significant direct relation with 5-year IF and an inverse but insignificant relationship with IF. Research limitations/implications Journals published by Springer Nature and of multidisciplinary nature have been considered for the study. Only those journals were selected that provided the information regarding the Publication Timeline, whereas those which did not provide the same, were excluded. However, new insights can be revealed if the journals published by different publishers and belonging to one particular discipline are studied. Practical implications The study helps to ascertain the impact of the Publication Timeline on the Impact Metrics of the journals. It can help the authors select the journals as their publishing venues considering the Publication Timeline. Publishers can also be benefitted from the findings of this study since improvisations and modifications in their Publication Timelines can positively influence the impact metrics of their respective journals. Originality/value The study attempts to measure the impact of the Publication Timeline on Journal Metrics using cross-sectional secondary data, by performing regression analysis. Though various studies have examined the influence of the Publication Timeline on the IF using correlation analysis, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first of its kind to use regression analysis to check the relation, as well as the degree of impact the Publication Timeline, has on Journal Metrics.

Abstract: Internet of things (IoT) is a technology that enables our daily life objects to connect on the Internet and to send and receive data for a meaningful purpose. In recent years, IoT has led to many revolutions in almost every sector of our society. Nevertheless, security threats to IoT devices and networks are relentlessly disruptive, because of the proliferation of Internet technologies. Phishing is one of the most prevalent threats to all Internet users, in which attackers aim to fraudulently extract sensitive information of a user or system, using fictitious emails, websites, etc. With the rapid increase in IoT devices, attackers are targeting IoT devices such as security cameras, smart cars, etc., and perpetrating phishing attacks to gain control over such vulnerable devices for malicious purposes. In recent decades, such scams have been spreading, and they have become increasingly advanced over time. By following this trend, in this paper, we propose a threat modelling approach to identify and mitigate the cyber-threats that can cause phishing attacks. We considered two significant IoT use cases, i.e., smart autonomous vehicular system and smart home. The proposed work is carried out by applying the STRIDE threat modelling approach to both use cases, to disclose all the potential threats that may cause a phishing attack. The proposed threat modelling approach can support the IoT researchers, engineers, and IoT cyber-security policymakers in securing and protecting the potential threats in IoT devices and systems in the early design stages, to ensure the secure deployment of IoT devices in critical infrastructures.
