Abstract: Drawing upon the institutional theory, this study examines the influence of responsible leadership on firm performance. Furthermore, this research investigates environmental management practices (EnvMP) as an underlying mechanism and institutional pressures as boundary condition between responsible leadership and firm performance. Design/methodology/approach Time-lagged data were collected using survey-questionnaire from 385 mid-level employees of construction industry in Pakistan. Partial least square-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the data. Findings Results demonstrate that responsible leadership impacts firm performance (financial and nonfinancial) directly and through EnvMP. Furthermore, institutional pressure moderates the link between responsible leadership and EnvMP. However, moderated mediation effect of intuitional pressures was found insignificant. Practical implications This study suggest that EnvMP is a key process through which responsible leadership influences firms' financial and nonfinancial performance and shed lights as to when responsible leaders matter most in terms of firm performance through low or high institutional pressures. Originality/value This paper is an early attempt which contributes to the body of literature on responsible leadership by investigating mechanisms (how) and boundary condition (when) through which responsible leadership influences firms' financial and environmental performance.

Abstract: Using the conservation of resources (COR) theory, the present study aims to examine the role of participative leadership in frontline service employees (FLEs)’ service recovery performance. The present study also tests FLEs’ role breadth self-efficacy (RBSE) as a theoretically relevant mediator and FLE trait mindfulness as an important moderator. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected using time-lagged (three rounds, two weeks apart) from two sources (193 FLEs and 772 customers, who experienced a service failure). Structural equation modeling (Mplus, 8.6) was employed to analyze the data. Findings The results revealed that participative leadership was positively associated with FLEs service recovery performance, both directly and indirectly, via RBSE. The results also showed that FLE trait mindfulness moderated the link of participative leadership with RBSE and the indirect association of participative leadership with service recovery performance, via RBSE. Practical implications This study suggests that organizational leaders who exhibit participative leadership behavior are valuable for organizations. By demonstrating such behaviors, they boost FLEs' RBSE, which in turn improves their service recovery performance. Originality/value The present work makes important contributions to the literature on service recovery performance by foregrounding two important yet overlooked antecedents (participative leadership and RBSE) of FLE service recovery performance. The present work also contributes to the nascent literature on the antecedents and outcomes of RBSE in service contexts.

Abstract: The battle of currents between AC and DC reignited as a result of the development in the field of power electronics. The efficiency of DC distribution systems is highly dependent on the efficiency of distribution converter, which calls for optimized schemes for the efficiency enhancement of distribution converters. Modular solid-state transformers (SSTs) play a vital role in DC distribution networks and renewable energy systems (RES). This paper deals with efficiency-based load distribution for solid-state transformers (SSTs) in DC distribution networks. The aim is to achieve a set of minimum inputs that are consistent with the output while considering the constraints and efficiency. As the main feature of modularity is associated with a three-stage structure of SSTs, this modular structure is optimized using ant lion optimizer (ALO) and validated by applying it to the EIA (Energy Information Agency) DC distribution network which contains SSTs. In the DC distribution grid, modular SSTs provide the promising conversion of DC power from medium voltage to lower DC range (400 V). The proposed algorithm is simulated in MATLAB and also compared with two other metaheuristic algorithms. The obtained results prove that the proposed method can significantly reduce the input requirements for producing the same output while satisfying the specified constraints.

Abstract: Background: Prostate cancer (PC) is a complex, multi-factorial disease. In spite of its high prevalence, the Pathophysiology of thePC progression is poorly understood. Cytokines play important role in immune regulation. Cytokines (IL-6) regulates growth ofmany tumor cells including prostate cancer, therefor it can be used as a marker for PC.Objectives: To measure and compare the levels of IL-6 between metastatic and non- metastatic prostate cancer patients.Material and Methods: This study was a Cross-sectional analytical and was conducted in the Department of physiology FederalPsotgraduate Medical Institute (FPGMI) Lahore with collaboration of Urology department of Sheikh Zayed hospital Lahore.Patients with prostate cancer registered with Urology department, Sheikh Zayed Hospital Lahore were recruited for the study.Patients with inflammatory conditions, auto-immune diseases, obesity and Alzimer's disease were excluded. A standard Elisa kit(Thermo scientific made in USA) was used for estimation of serum IL-6 levels. Data was recorded on a structured checklist, whichcontained basic demographic data along with finding of prostate specific antigen (PSA), prostatic biopsy, bone scan and serum IL-6levels. Data was analyzed through SPSS version 20 for descriptive statistics. Results: A total of 50 (25 metastatic and 25 non-metastatic) prostate cancer patients were being part of the present study. Themean PSA level was 364.42 ± 86.7 among metastatic prostate cancer patients as compared to 30.71 ±23.48 non- metastatic, indicating significant difference (p =0.001). Similarly mean Gleason score was high (7.16±0.85) among metastatic prostate cancerpatients as compared to 6.28±0.54 among non-metastatic one. Significant difference (p=0.014) was observed regarding IL-6. Itwas 25.73±80.48 among metastatic patients in comparison with 1.56±1.38 among non-metastatic patients. There was strongcorrelation between PSA and Gleason score (r= 0.479**, p 〈 0.001). Also positive association was found between IL-6 and PSA, (r=0.285*, p=0.045).Conclusion: Serum IL-6 might be considered as a predictor for metastatic prostate cancer. Along with PSA, serum IL-6 levelscould be a strong predictor for the diagnosis of metastatic condition of prostate cancer.

Abstract: Wound healing is a multifaceted biological process influenced by both intrinsic and extrinsic factors. The ability of Wnt signaling to activate cell proliferation appears to serve a central role in wound healing. Therefore, the direct activation of Wnt or inhibition of the Wnt antagonist could be an ideal approach for the stimulation of wound healing. This study aimed to investigate the underlying mechanism of small molecule-loaded nanofibrous matrix in inducing wound healing. Herein, a naturally derived small molecule, curcumin, was used to inhibit the GSK3-β, which is considered a negative regulator of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. The docking results demonstrated that curcumin makes a complex with GSK3-β at seven specific sites, thereby inhibiting its activity. Moreover, the stabilization of β-catenin appeared to be increased with the treatment of curcumin. Next, curcumin was incorporated in poly ε-caprolactone nanofibrous matrices for controlled–sustained drug release to induce cell function. Curcumin-loaded nanofibrous matrix not only enhanced fibroblast cell proliferation, but also induced the expression of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) in vitro. Moreover, the in vivo results showed that these nanofibrous mats significantly induced wound closure in 12 mm critical-sized defect. Collectively, these results suggest that the developed nanofibrous matrix promotes impaired wound healing by modulating cell proliferation and enhancing FGF expression that promotes wound closure.

Abstract: Drawing from dynamic capability (DC) theory, this study aims to investigate how big data analytics (BDA)-enabled dynamic capabilities (DCs) prompt firm performance. This study proposes that BDA-enabled DCs lead firms toward simultaneous exploration and exploitation of new knowledge about markets and products (i.e. marketing ambidexterity) which in turn improves firms' market and financial performance. This study also examines if environmental dynamism strengthens the aforementioned relationship. Design/methodology/approach This study uses survey questionnaire and data were collected in the form of two heterogeneous samples from Turkey and Pakistan. Partial least square-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to test the hypotheses. Findings Results reveal that BDA-enabled DCs positively affect both dimensions of marketing ambidexterity (exploration and exploitation). Marketing exploration and exploitation have positive effects on firms' market and financial performance. Results also demonstrate that environmental dynamism moderates the link between BDA-enabled DCs and firms' marketing exploitation. The moderating effect for BDA-enabled DCs and firms' marketing exploration was not consistent across both samples. Research limitations/implications This study contributes to the literature of BDA and marketing ambidexterity in the light of DC theory in a way that when and how the marketing ambidexterity, derived from BDA-enabled DCs, has a positive impact on firm performance. Moreover, findings imply that the development and enhancement of BDA-enabled DCs facilitate firms to calibrate marketing exploitation and exploration to seek new knowledge about markets and products and using such knowledge to achieve superior performance. Originality/value The novelty of present study is development of dynamic capabilities-based framework which sheds light on the role of big data for sensing, seizing and (re)configuring firms' resources to develop marketing ambidextrous capabilities in order to stay successful. From methodological perspective, this study uses two heterogeneous samples to assess robustness of results for ensuring greater generalizability and theoretical resonance.
