Abstract: This research aims to establish the importance of the different indicators of a methodological-analytical nature included in the research reports presented in scientific articles. Thus, our interest is focused on determining which of these indicators are the best predictors for establishing a scientific article profile with a higher or lower degree of concreteness. For this purpose, we selected all the scientific articles published in the seven Spanish journals within the field of educational research indexed in the Journal Citation Report (JCR) database during 2016. More precisely, we selected a total of 479 papers published during the three-year period 2014-2016. Each journal obtained an overall score depending on the presence vs absence of such methodological indicators. Following the implementation of the Chi-squared Automatic Interaction Detection technique, where this variable, transformed into a new fictitious variable grouped into three levels, has been taken as a variable criterion, and, as predictors, the ten methodological-analytical indicators, it has been found that, in fact, some methodological-analytical indicators play a more important role than others in the concreteness of the research designs raised in the research work. In this way, we are able to determine how these indicators related to the quality criteria are (QUC); the type of sampling-s considered (ST3); and the study methodology (ME), which have been decisive for the establishment of more complete methodological-analytical designs.

Abstract: Critical thinking is currently one of the most demanded competencies and skills in professionals and, therefore, constitutes one of the fundamental aspects to be developed by educational systems. This is especially important for the development of work tools for future labor insertion. The first objective of the present study was to determine the demographic variables (school type, gender, level education, work experience and volunteering) that can be used to predict the development of critical thinking in students undertaking vocational training or secondary education. The second objective was to determine whether the variables considered to be the most effective predictors are able to distinguish between higher and lower levels of critical thinking. For this purpose, a sample of students undertaking vocational training or secondary education in southern Spain (n = 3.132) was recruited. A quantitative study was then conducted, performing regression and decision tree analysis to identify predictors. Based on study outcomes, it can be concluded that a need exists to work on critical thinking at these educational stages and throughout life while considering the variables that influence critical thinking such as educational level, work experience and volunteering.

Abstract: This work involves the content validation of a semi-structured interview, whose objective is to learn about the management of suffering in people. The interview items have been classified into several categories that define the suffering construct. For the content validation of the instrument, in addition to initially conducting a scientific review on the subject, the procedure known as expert judgement has been used. The results obtained in terms of the content validity achieved in the dimensions and areas assessed are, in general, satisfactory. However, some of these dimensions and certain areas have not exceeded the required minimum values for content validity. Therefore, it is necessary to modify the items comprising these dimensions in the areas evaluated with the additional incorporation of the qualitative suggestions for improvement indicated by the experts. As for agreement among experts, the results point to moderate agreement, which, moreover, is not due to chance.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to design, develop, and validate a questionnaire evaluating attitudes toward refugee children. Method: The questionnaire was analyzed using SPSS Software version 21.0 (IBM Corp., 2012, Armonk, NY, USA). Results: Cronbach’s α was greater than 0.9. According to an expert’s review, the instrument provided arithmetic means higher than 2.5, the dimensions evaluated had interclass correlation coefficients greater than 55, and the corrected correlation values of the item-total were greater than 0.35. Conclusions: The Attitude Questionnaire toward Refugee Children was found to be an adequate instrument for better understanding and measuring the attitudes of host countries’ citizens toward refugee children.

Abstract: Plain language summary Emerging Trends in Science Teaching-Learning Research: A Bibliometric Analysis (2011-2020) The main objective of the present work has been to review the scientific production on science teaching-learning during a decade (2011-2020). The methodology used is based on a bibliometric study. Findings suggest that the topic is still emerging given the novelty of the discipline and that published studies tend to be low impact in terms of the number of citations they receive. The most relevant themes and trends to emerge pertained to medical education, comic books and illustrations, and the use of mobile devices. Finally, analysis of the keywords used by the top 20 most relevant authors, it was possible to infer a degree of correspondence between sources, keywords and the continents responsible for the greatest scientific output on the topic. One of the main obstacles or limitations of the present research is inherent to bibliometric studies based on scientific papers gathered from different research databases and pertains to the lack of uniformity of databases when indexing keywords and, mainly, when distinguishing between author keywords and keywords plus.
