Abstract: Aim: We aimed to investigate the success of RF therapy in osteoid osteomas diagnosed clinically and radiologically. Material and Method: 13 patients who underwent RF ablation therapy between January 2018 and February 2021 were included in the study. Archive images and clinical notes were reviewed retrospectively. Clinical treatment success was evaluated according to the pain scores made using the visual analog scale (VAS) during the follow-ups. Results: After the procedure, a complete decrease in VAS score was achieved in 11 patients and a nearly complete decrease in 2 patients. Clinical success was calculated as 100%. No complications were observed in any of the patients. Conclusion: Computed tomography-guided RF ablation is a minimally invasive, safe and effective treatment method in patients with osteoid osteoma.

Abstract: To investigate the changes in kidney elasticity in patients with familial Mediterranean fever using the non‐invasive diagnostic method of shear wave elastography (SWE). Methods The kidney elasticity of 35 FMF patients and 23 healthy control subjects was evaluated with SWE. The relationships were evaluated of the SWE values with eGFR, microproteinuria, FMF severity score, number of attacks per month, and colchicine doses of the FMF patients. Results The kidney stiffness and velocity values of the FMF patients were found to be higher than those of the control group ( p   〈  0.001). A negative correlation was found between the renal stiffness and velocity values and the colchicine dose ( r  = −0.48, p  = 0.004, and r  = −0.50, p  = 0.003, respectively). Conclusion The results of the current study demonstrated that the SWE values of the FMF patients were significantly higher than those of the control group. SWE can be used as an alternative method in the follow up of FMF patients. In addition, a negative correlation was determined between the colchicine dose and renal stiffness. This suggests that SWE values could be used in the adjustments of colchicine doses. However, there is a need for further studies with greater numbers of patients to support this hypothesis.

Abstract: Superselective vesical artery embolization is used in the control of bleeding due to bladder cancer. However, there are few studies with a small number of patients. The current study aimed to investigate the efficacy, complications, and short-mid-term results of super-selective transarterial embolization in the treatment of persistent hematuria associated with bladder cancer. A retrospective examination was made of 13 patients with bladder cancer-related persistent hematuria who were applied with selective vesical artery embolization in the interventional radiology unit. The patients were evaluated in terms of the success of the treatment, the patients' need for additional interventional procedures, and the complications related to the procedure. Superselective superior vesical artery embolization was applied to a total of 13 patients with a mean age of 78.85±11.76 years and a median follow-up of 181 days. The time without bleeding was determined as a median of 159 days (min: 15, max:1410 days). The short-term clinical success was calculated as 84.6%. In the long-term follow-up of the patients in this study, the clinical success was determined to be 76.9% and no major complications were observed in any patient. Superselective embolization of vesical arteries is an effective and reliable treatment method for bladder cancer-related bleeding with high clinical success rates and low complication rates.

Abstract: Objective: In this study, it was aimed to investigate the sensitivity of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of appendicitis in the pediatric age group. Method: 87 pediatric cases who were diagnosed with appendicitis after the operation, had preoperative USG examination and had no additional pathology causing acute abdomen were included in the study. The sensitivity of USG in the diagnosis of appendicitis was investigated by examining the USG reports of the cases retrospectively. In addition, the leukocyte counts, neutrophil ratios and CRP values of the cases were analyzed from the hospital archive and CT examinations, if any, from the PACS system. Results: 71% of the cases were acute appendicitis, 29% of them were perforated appendicitis. USG was compatible with appendicitis in 74% of the cases, and the diagnostic sensitivity of USG was 74%. Secondary appendicitis findings were observed on USG in 16% of the cases, while USG was completely normal in 10% of the cases. Of the 26% cases that could not be diagnosed by USG, 10% of the cases were diagnosed by CT. The diagnosis was made by clinical findings in 16% of the cases. There was leukocytosis in 62% of the cases, an increase in the neutrophil ratio (shift to the left) in 84%, and elevated CRP in 86%, and at least one of these parameters was high in all cases. Conclusion: Although ultrasonography is not sufficient to diagnose in all cases, the high sensitivity rate achieved in this study supports the knowledge that ultrasonography can be used as a first-choice diagnostic tool in pediatric patients with suspected acute appendicitis
