Abstract: Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the potential of cultural practices, adopted during the soybean off-season, to reduce the Pratylenchus brachyurus population and damages to soybean. An experiment was carried out in a naturally-infested agricultural field, in the growing seasons of 2010/2011, 2011/2012, and 2012/2013, in the municipality of Vera, in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The treatments were: 'ADR 7010' (2010/2011) and 'ADR 300' pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) (in the following off-seasons); 'BRS 1010' (2010/2011) and 'GNZ 2005' corn (Zea mays) (in the following off-seasons); Congo grass (Urochloa ruziziensis); 'Marandu' palisade grass (U. brizantha 'Marandu'); slender leaf rattlebox (Crotalaria ochroleuca); sunn hemp (C. juncea); showy rattlebox (C. spectabilis); C. spectabilis + 'ADR 300' pearl millet (from 2011/2012 onwards); fallow (weed control by two diskings + herbicide); fallow (without weed control); and control (fallow with weed control by herbicide). Fallow (two diskings + herbicide), rattlebox species, and C. spectabilis + pearl millet reduced the nematode population before planting and during the early soybean stages. After soybean harvest, the nematode population did not differ among treatments, which indicates that the nematode multiplication on the crop was higher in treatments with lower initial population. The use of C. spectabilis, pearl millet, and C. spectabilis + pearl millet favored higher soybean yields. The cultivation of C. spectabilis - alone or associated with 'ADR 300' pearl millet - is the best suitable option to reduce the P. brachyurus population and damages to soybean in the off-season.

PERFORMANCE OF SOYBEAN IN SUCCESSION TO MAIZE SECOND CROP INTERCROPPED WITH DIFFERENT SOWING DENSITY WITH Crotalaria spectabilis ABSTRACT: The growing demand for food, associated with the need for environmental preservation, and the limited availability of land for the expansion of cultivated area, has demanded continuous development of technologies that result in increased grain productivity, rationalization of input use, environment resources and the means of production. The objective of this work was to evaluate the performance of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) in succession to the intercropped of maize (Zea mays) second crop with different densities of Crotalaria spectabilis. The experiment was sowing on February 15, 2016, in an experimental area of Embrapa Agrossilvopastoral, in the city of Sinop/MT. The experimental design was a randomized complete block, with four replications. Each plot had 11 lines with 0.45 cm of spacing and 10 meters of length, being considered as useful area, the three central plots. The treatments consisted of 4 densities of C. spectabilis, being 10, 20, 30 and 40kg of seeds per hectare, besides the control with the single maize. The sowing of the soybean was carried out in October 2016, under the plots harvested from the maize intercropped with the Crotalaria, where the cultivar M 8210IPRO was used and at the end of the cycle 10 plants of the useful area of each plot were collected, so that Production components. With the results obtained, it was possible to observe that the crotalaria did not cause a reduction in corn grain yield, but in only one consortium cycle, it did not allow the increase of grain yield of the soybean. Therefore, the continuity of the work must be carried out in order to be able to obtain increases in soybean production in succession, and also to evaluate the best C. spectabilis density to be used in intercropping. Keywords: crop diversification; maize-crotalaria intercrop; grain yield.

Abstract: The objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of doses of phosphorus applied in the soil on production components, productivity and physiological quality of cv. IAC Carioca common beans seeds. Six doses of phosphorus (0, 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150kg.ha-1 of P2O5) were evaluated in a randomized block design, with four replications, in a "Latossolo Vermelho" with low phosphorus content (6mg.dm-3), under field conditions. At harvesting, the final stand of plants was evaluated and the first green bean insertion height, green bean length, number of green beans per plant, number of seeds per plant, number of loculus per green bean, number of empty loculus per green bean, number of loculus with seeds per green bean and mass of 100 seeds were measured. Seed productivity was determined based on the two central production lines in each plot, which had the water content adjusted to 13%. Seed physiological quality was evaluated by water content, germination test, first count of the germination test, accelerated aging, electric conductivity, seedling emergence in the field and seedling dry matter weight. Phosphorus fertilization with 150kg.ha-1 of P2O5 increased the number of green beans per plant and the number of seeds per plant. The others production components and seed productivity were nott modified by the application of phosphorus. The doses of phosphorus did not modify the physiological quality of common beans seeds, cv. IAC Carioca.

Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the adaptability and stability of 18 wheat inbred lines and two wheat cultivars (control) to grain yield, plant height, tolerance to aluminum and other characteristics in experiments carried out in acid soil and limed soil conditions, in 2006-2008. The lines 13 and 17, tolerant at 8 and 10 mg L-1 de Al3+, showed high adaptability and stability to grain yield, heavy grains and resistance to lodging. The cultivar IAC-370 and the line 6, tolerant to 4 and 8 mg L-1 de Al3+, were adapted to favorable environments. The line 20, tolerant to 10 mg L-1 de Al3+, was adapted to unfavorable environments and showed good performance for number of spikelets per spike. All lines showed semi-dwarf plant, except the line 3 (dwarf). Superior genotypes were identified to leaf rust resistance (line 12), number of spikelets per spike and grains per spike (line 15), head length (lines 5 and 8) and grains per spikelet (line 18). The most productive genotypes tend to show taller semi-dwarf plant types and heavier grains in acid soil and limed soil condition. The most tolerant genotypes to 2 and 6 mg L-1 de Al3+ in nutrient solution were the most productive in acid soil.

Abstract: High yielding potential and proper cooking characters are the main desirable factors to be taken into account in the choise of new common bean cultivars. In this research work, the yielding components considered were number of pods/plant, number of grains/pod and 100 grain-mass. As to the tecnological characters, grain crude protein content, cooking time and hydration ability were measured. A randomized complete block design, with four replications, was set up in which 15 common bean cultivars were checked for the above mentioned parameters (Carioca, Pérola, IAC Carioca, IAC Carioca Eté, IAC Carioca Pyatã, Carioca Precoce, IAC Carioca Aruã, FT Bonito, Rudá, Aporé, Princesa, IAPAR 14, IAPAR 80, IAPAR 81 and Porto Real). Grain yileding potentials above 3,500 kg ha-1 were observed in the cultivars Aporé, Carioca Precoce and Rudá with superior cooking parameters being detected in the cultivars Carioca, IAPAR 80 and IAPAR 81.

Effect of delay on harvest on the grain quality of soybean cultivars   ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of delay harvest, under field conditions, on agronomic traits and on grain quality of soybean cultivars, measured by the percentage of damaged grains, oil and protein content and titratable acidity. The experiment was carried out in the experimental field of Embrapa Agrossilvipastoril, located in Sinop-MT. The experiment followed a 4 x4 factorial experiment in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications. Significant effects of delay harvest were observed for all analyzed variables. No significant differences among the soybean cultivars were observed for the height of insertion of the first pod and grain yield. The delay harvest affects the grain quality with an increase on damaged grains with the harvest delay for the four cultivars. Significant differences were observed among the cultivars for grain quality with the delay harvest, indicating genetic variability among the cultivars for this trait. The cultivar BRS 7280RR showed the highest scores of damaged grains and cultivar BRS 7780IPRO, showed the lowest score. Thus, it is concluded that there are genetic differences between cultivars for quality of grains after delay in harvesting. Key words: damaged grains; delay in harvest; Glycine max L. Merrill; rain at Harvest.

Abstract: Semolina extracted from grains of durum wheat is used for manufacturing pastas. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate the yield potential and agronomic behavior of seventeen durum wheat inbred lines (BH-1146/LGN//2*IAC-1003) originated from Instituto Agronômico (IAC) breeding program and three check cultivars IAC-1001, IAC-1002 and IAC-1003, introduced from International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), Mexico. The experiments were carried out in upland conditions at Capão Bonito and under irrigation at Mococa, in 2007 and 2008. The following characters were evaluated: yield (kg ha-1), plant height, head length and raquis internode length (cm), number of grains per spike and 100 grains weight (g). The tolerance to aluminum toxicity was evaluated in nutrient solution, under laboratory conditions. 'IAC-1001' and 'IAC-1003' showed good performance in relation to grain yield at the two locations. The inbred lines 2, 9 and 13 showed shorter semi dwarf plant type; inbred lines 4, 15 and the cultivar IAC-1001 had longer heads; 'IAC-1001' and 'IAC-1002' exhibited more fertile spikes; 'IAC-1003' heavier grains and the inbred lines 1, 4, 15 and 17 presented higher raquis internode length. The more productive genotypes tent to present taller semi dwarf plant types, more of grain per spike and heavier grains. The inbred lines from the IAC breeding program were tolerant to aluminum toxicity and the check cultivars were sensitive.
