Abstract:
In patients with normal rCBF, arterial spikes are found in all regions of the cerebral hemisphere. The normal range of spike height is 17% to 31 % of H max, except over the carotid siphon (region 15), when it is 36% to 38%. Under general anesthesia proportionate spike height increases significantly when CBF is low. Increased blood flow is not, however, significantly associated with decrease in spike height. The possible explanations for this are discussed.
