Abstract: Abstract. Susila IW, Sumiartha IK, Supartha IW, Yudha IKW, Utama IWEK, Yasa IWS, Wiradana PA. 2022. Abundance, distribution mapping and DNA barcoding of Procontarinia robusta (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae), a mango gall midge in Bali, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 23: 6428-6436. Gall midge (Procontarinia robusta) is an important pest of mango plants in various countries in the world, including Indonesia. This pest causes very serious damage to mango leaves which until now has not been reported. This study aims to map the distribution and abundance of the pest population and identify the pest species using the DNA barcode method on mango tree plantations in Bali, Indonesia. The survey method was used to collect data from various districts and cities in Bali Province, Indonesia. Mitochondrial COI primers were used to identify DNA barcodes. The results showed that the highest population abundance of P. robusta was found in Denpasar City. These pests have spread evenly throughout the Province of Bali, from the lowlands to the middle and highlands. Through a molecular approach, the insect pest that causes mango leaf gall in Bali Province is identified as P. robusta as the first report that can be used by researchers, related agencies, and farmers to be alert and ready with strategies and control tactics in the future. Further research is needed related to monitoring using sex pheromones or plant volatiles and the search for natural enemies for monitoring purposes and initiation towards biological control.

Abstract: Every construction project, whether high-tech or simple, certainly has risks in its implementation process, therefore it is necessary to establish an Occupational Safety and Health Management System to minimize Occupational Safety and Health (K3) risks, but there are still many construction companies that are lacking in identifying K3 risks. and implementing an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMK3) in the process of implementing a construction project. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of OSH risk based on work items, as well as to measure the level of implementation of SMK3 in a construction project. In this research, the object of the case study is the construction project of the Administration Office Building at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, during the lower structure work. After carrying out risk identification, 35 risk questions and 5 jobs are obtained, namely Borepile, Pilecap, Pendestal Column, Sloff, Roof Frame, then the results of the identification are processed and the risk level is obtained from the implementation of the Administration Office Building Construction Project at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali. Enter the Medium Category with a risk value of 8.69, while for the implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK) the Administration Office Building Construction Project at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali is included in the good category with a total application value of 83%. Hopefully this research can become a reference in identifying K3 risks and a reference in implementing the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMK).

Abstract: Abstract. Yuliadhi KA, Supartha IW, Wijaya IN, Pudjianto, Nurmansyah A, Susila IW, Yudha IKW, Utama IWEK, Wiradana PA. 2021. Short communication: The preference and functional response of Sycanus aurantiacus (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Reduviidae) on three prey types in laboratory conditions. Biodiversitas 22: 5662-5667. Sycanus aurantiacus Ishikawa et Okajima (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) is a valuable predatory insect that can be cultivated in biological pest control programs, particularly in vegetable crops. The research aimed to investigate the preferences and functional responses of the predator Sycanus aurantiacus to three different prey species in the laboratory conditions, included Plutella xylostella (Linnaeus), Crocidolomia pavonana (Fabricius), and Tenebrio molitor (Linnaeus). The preference experiment was carried out by monitoring the prey on which S. aurantiacus preyed the most. The functional responsiveness of S. aurantiacus was determined by measuring the time it took to detect and prey on various kinds of prey, as well as the number of prey that were successfully preyed upon when the quantity of prey was increased. The predatory S. aurantiacus preferred P. xylostella over C. pavonana and T. molitor. S. aurantiacus functional response to three kinds of prey, including type II, is shown. In P. xylostella, the instantaneous prey search rate (a) was 0.2/hour, with a handling time (Th) of 1 hour 40 minutes/prey, which was quicker than the other two kinds of prey. As a result of our findings, the predator S. aurantiacus can be maintained in the lab and has the potential to be developed as an efficient biocontrol agent, particularly against the cabbage leaf caterpillar P. xylostella.

Abstract: Abstract. Supartha IW, Susila IW, Sunari AAAAS, Mahaputra IGF, Yudha IKW, Wiradana PA. 2021. Damage characteristics and distribution patterns of invasive pest, Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) on maize crop in Bali, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 22: 3378-3387. The Fall Armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is a destructive crop pest native to North and South America which has now been reported to have spread to Indonesia. This study aims to ensure the attack and spread of invasive pests FAW on corn crops in Bali. In addition, it also studied population structure, age structure, and percentage of attacks on maize crops in high altitude areas in Bali, Indonesia. The research was conducted using survey methods. A sampling of plants is carried out in all districts and cities in the Province of Bali by diagonal sampling. The sample unit size is 5 m × 5 m with the number of plants observed being 150 plants. The score of plant damage at the age of 4 weeks after planting (WAP) plants has a "very heavy" attack intensity value. Areas of upper leaves or young leaves most affected by S. frugiperda attack in the field. The results showed that pest FAW has been entering and attacking maize crops in Bali since January 2020 as the first report. At the beginning of the entry was only found in some lowland locations, especially in Tabanan and Jembrana regency, but within the next 4 months, it has spread evenly in all districts and cities in Bali province. Adults populations and egg groups of FAW were found to peak by the time the corn crop was 2 weeks old after planting while the larval population reached its peak by the time the plant was 4 WAP The highest percentage of FAW attacks is in altitude areas below 250 meters above sea level (masl) with an average attack per observation plot of 47.84%. This research is the first to report on FAW attacks on maize crops in Bali Province since January 2020 and adds to our knowledge of FAW pests on maize crops in Bali Province.

Abstract: Abstract. Supartha IW, Susila IW, Sumiartha IK, Rauf A, Cruz LBDC, Yudha IKW, Utama IWEK, Wiradana PA. 2021. Preference, population development, and molecular characteristics of Spodoptera exigua (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) on shallot cultivars: A field trial scale. Biodiversitas 23: 783-792. The beet armyworm, Spodoptera exigua Hubner (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), is a polyphagous insect that is the main pest and is responsible for the decline in shallot production in Indonesia. This study aims to (i) analyze preferences; (ii) colonization time; (iii) population development; (iv) attack of armyworms according to plant phenology in the shallot cultivars; and (v) identification species of armyworms. The research was conducted in Bangli Village, Tabanan Regency, Bali Province, Indonesia. The research design used was a randomized block design with the treatment of five shallot cultivars and five replications. Molecular analysis of armyworm larvae was carried out using the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method using forward Lep_F1 and reverse Lep_R1 primers at the Cytochrome Oxidase Subunit I (COI) gene. Our results indicate that the period of adult pest infestation has been seen since the emergence of plants, namely 7 days after planting (dap). The colonization period begins at 21 (dap), when plants and larvae begin to grow. The development of the egg and larva population was seen when the plants totaled 21 (dap) (for eggs) and 28 dap (for larvae). The most preferred shallot cultivars are "Bali Karet" and "Bima Brebes". Armyworm larvae, including S. exigua, were identified as related to the same group as isolate larvae from China, India, Pakistan, Thailand, and Japan. These findings indicated that S. exigua preferred the two cultivars of shallots in the fields and emerged at 21 dap. This shows that insect management activities must be carried out systematically both when the shallots plants are young, pre- and post-harvest. Control with natural enemies can also be done for further research.

Abstract: Thermal effectiveness was performed as preliminary research in shell and coiled tube heat exchanger with addition of Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles. In the present study, the effect of small concentration of Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles analysis for steady state. Water is selected as the working fluid of cold fluid and refrigerant R-22 as hot fluid. The present work also includes the effect of nanoparticles on logarithmic temperature difference (LMTD), amount of heat absorbed by the water as a time series function. Based on the result, the effectiveness of water-Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles as cold fluid shows good agreement on heat transfer parameter enhancement. The heat exchanger effectiveness increase until 2.2% compare to that of heat exchanger without Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles. This phenomenon indicates an increases of heat transfer process inside heat exchanger. The application of water-Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles on shell and coiled tube heat exchanger enhanced the convective heat transfer passively.
