Abstract: Objectives: SARS-CoV-2 is a novel and highly infectious virus. An effective response requires rapid training of healthcare workers (HCWs). We measured the change in knowledge related to COVID-19 and associated factors before and after training of HCWs in Vietnam. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was used to evaluate HCW knowledge related to prevention and control of SARS-CoV-2 before and after attending a 2-day training-of-trainers course. Between June and September 2020, 963 HCWs from 194 hospitals in 21 provinces received the training. HCW knowledge was assessed using a 20-item questionnaire consisting of multiple-choice questions at the beginning and closing of the training course. A participant received 1 point for each correct answer. He or she was considered to have improved knowledge the posttest score was higher than the pretest score with a score ≥15 on the posttest. We applied the McNemar test and logistic regression model to test the level of association between demographic factors and change in knowledge of COVID-19. Results: Overall, 100% of HCWs completed both the pretest and posttest. At baseline, only 14.7% scored ≥15. Following the training, 78.4% scored ≥15 and 64.3% had improved knowledge according to the predetermined definition. Questions related to the order of PPE donning and doffing and respiratory specimen collection procedures were identified as having the greatest improvement (44.6% and 60.7%, respectively). Being female (OR, 1.5; 95% CI, 1.1–2.0), having a postgraduate degree (OR, 2.5; 95% CI, 1.4–4.4), working in a nonmanager position (OR, 1.5; 95% CI, 1.1–2.1), previous contact with a COVID-19 patient (OR, 1.5; 95% CI, 1.1–2.0), and working in northern Vietnam (OR, 2.0; 95% CI, 1.4–2.6), were associated with greater knowledge improvement. Conclusions: Most HCWs demonstrated improved knowledge of COVID-19 prevention and control after attending the training. Particular groups may benefit from additional training: those who are male, leaders and managers, those who hold an undergraduate degree, and those who work in the southern provinces.

Abstract: The immune response of two groups of selective breeding panagasius families: susceptible (or sensitive) (S) and resistant (R) family groups, including red blood cell count (RBC count), white blood cell count (WBC count), neutrophil (NEU), monocyte (MONO), lymphocyte (LYM), and melano-macrophage centers (MMCs) count in liver, kidney and spleen tissue and antibody titers (ABT) against the bacteria Edwardsiella ictaluriwere evaluated in this research. Fish were sampled at five truncated points after infection with the bacteria Edwardsiella ictaluri including before the challenge, 24, 48, 264, and 312 hpi. The immune response of the R group was more effective than that of the S group, showing: (1) RBC decreased less during the challenge; (2) WBC, NEU, MONO, LYM increased more rapidly, especially at the truncated point 24-48 hpi; (3) MMCs in liver, kidney, and spleen of the R group increased faster up to the truncated point 48 hpi while the S group increased more slowly and only up to the truncated point 24 hpi; (4) ABT were higher in all stages of the challenge. The research developed a multivariable logistic regression model with immune markers such as NEU, ABT and MMCs in the liver at the truncated point of 24-48 hpi to identify individuals which were resistant to Enteric Septicemia of Catfish (ESC), with sensitivity and specificity of 91.7, 95.0%, respectively.

Abstract: F-doped graphitic carbon nitride was synthesized via simple solid-state calcination of mixture with various weight ratios of urea, as precursor, and ammonium fluoride, as modifying agent. The obtained materials were characterized by a number of modern methods such as X-ray diffraction, Scanning electron microscopy, Infrared spectroscopy, Ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, Thermo-gravimetry analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, which all demonstrated the successful modification of g-C 3 N 4 by fluorine. The experimental results illustrated that the doped sample, in which weight ratio of urea and ammonium fluoride equals 93:7 respectively, performs the highest photo-degradation efficiency of Rhodamine B up to 75 % after 7-hour visible light irradiation. The doping effect of fluorine on photo-catalytic activity of g-C 3 N 4 was also discussed within supporting information of DFT calculation.

Abstract: Dengue forcasting Model Satellite - based System for Vietnam (DMOSS) là hệ thống cảnh báo sốt xuất huyết đầu tiên tích hợp dữ liệu quan trắc từ vệ tinh và dữ liệu về thời tiết để đưa ra các dự báo sớm.

Abstract: This study explores how gender and first language (L1) conceptual transfer influence the use of English prepositions among 50 Vietnamese university students aged 18 to 25, enrolled in an English language program. The participants' comprehension of English prepositions in terms of usage, meaning, and context was assessed using pre- and post-tests consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions. The data analysis employed descriptive and inferential statistics, including chi-square tests and independent samples t-tests. Both the pre- and post-test results revealed a moderate level of English prepositional usage, with all participants displaying improvement. Female participants performed slightly better than males on the post-test, while there were no notable gender differences in pre-test scores. In both tests, participants with high levels of L1 conceptual transfer performed significantly poorer compared to those with low levels. These findings highlight the significant role of L1 conceptual transfer in the English prepositional usage of Vietnamese language learners, while suggesting a minor impact of gender. Further research is needed to delve deeper into this relationship. The results emphasize the importance of addressing L1 conceptual transfer in English language instruction, specifically regarding prepositions, within the context of Vietnam.

Abstract: This research article investigates the effects of mobile apps on language teaching and learning in a public university setting. The study focuses on evaluating the effectiveness and practicality of a Mobile Aided Language Learning Portal (MALLP) for teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to English Language Learners (ELLs). A total of 186 participants from a pre-intermediate General English course at a university in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, were selected using cluster sampling. The study employed a mixed-method design, including needs assessment, pre-examinations, a tryout experiment, post-examinations, and interviews. The findings indicate that a significant proportion of participants (65 percent) had a strong interest in using mobile apps for language learning. The experimental group, which utilized the MALLP, demonstrated a noticeable improvement in language proficiency compared to the control group. The engagement and usage patterns of the experimental group revealed a high level of engagement, with 70 percent regularly using the MALLP. Interviews with the experimental group highlighted their positive perceptions of the MALLP, including its user-friendliness, engaging features, availability of resources, and improvements in language skills and confidence. The post-test results showed that the experimental group achieved higher scores (passing rate of 97.8 percent) compared to the control group (passing rate of 36.6 percent). The experimental group's mean post-test score (33.76 points) was significantly higher than the control group's mean post-test score (28.52 points). These findings suggest that integrating mobile apps, such as the MALLP, in language teaching can lead to improved language learning outcomes and increased student motivation. Further research in public university settings is needed to gain a more precise understanding of the benefits and drawbacks of mobile app-based language learning.
