    Abstract: Introduction: Common Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR), evaluated by drug clinical trial studies, whereas an individual or specific population might suffer reactions after prolonged dormancy. Pharmacovigilance (PV) is a scientific investigation dealing with and keeping regular vigil on the drugs being used. Methods: The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) and other regulatory authorities like a National Coordination Committee (NCC) via the Central Drug Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) manage PV activity in synchronicity. Indian Pharmacovigilance (PV) system requires carving, therefore the Pharmacovigilance Program of India (PvPI) was enforced by the government in the year 2010, relying on exact ADR detection, evaluation, and reporting. Results: Thus, several regional, zonal and peripheral centers are developed for ADR reporting. Clinicians, Nurses, laypersons, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals can fill ADR reporting forms online or offline at the nearest centers in suitable languages. Additionally, a toll-free number and mobile app could be used for reporting ADR. Every reported ADR gets collected and processed at the centers through Vigi-flow software, which detects and assesses the signal strength reported at CDSCO and World Health Organisation (WHO) for the required regulatory action. Conclusions: The final decision of CDSCO-WHO is passed by a suitable media source for the advancement of society's health.

    Abstract: Yield stagnation, multi-nutrient deficiencies coupled with reduced fertilizer-use efficiency have emerged as major challenges to the food-systems of South Asia. Modern scientific tools to enhance nutrient use efficiencies along with augmented crop yields became utmost necessity to sustain food security of developing world. In this context, a field study was undertaken to understand the influence of numerous nano-fertilizers on wheat productivity, profitability and nutrient-use efficiency. Results revealed that application of 100% NPK coupled with foliar-spray of Nano- N + P + K + Zn increased grain and straw yield by 29.8 % and 13.7 %, respectively over 100% NPK. The crop fetched a net return of ₹ 72141.50 with B:C ratio of 5.51 with 75% NPK + nano-N. As a result, the wheat crop produced when Nano-N + 75% NPK was applied produced a greater yield (grain, straw, and biological), as well as financial gains.

    Abstract: Microglial overactivation promotes the production of various second messengers and inflammatory markers in brain tissue, resulting in neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration, which may lead to cognitive decline. The cyclic nucleotides are one of the important second messengers involved in the regulation of neurogenesis, synaptic plasticity, and cognition. The levels of these cyclic nucleotides are maintained by phosphodiesterase enzyme isoforms, particularly PDE4B, in the brain. An imbalance between PDE4B levels and cyclic nucleotides may lead to aggravating neuroinflammation. Methods: Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) were administered intraperitoneally on alternate days for 7 days at a dose of 500 μg/kg in mice, which triggered systemic inflammation. This may lead to the activation of glial cells and may activate oxidative stress and neuroinflammatory markers in brain tissue. Furthermore, oral administration of roflumilast (0.1, 0.2, and 0.4 mg/kg) in this model ameliorated oxidative stress markers, neuroinflammation and improved neurobehavioral parameters in these animals. Results: The detrimental effect of LPS increased oxidative stress, AChE enzyme levels, and decreased catalase levels in brain tissues, along with memory impairment in animals. Moreover, it also enhanced the activity and expression of the PDE4B enzyme, resulting in a decline in cyclic nucleotide levels. Furthermore, treatment with roflumilast improved the cognitive decline, decreased AChE enzyme level, and increased the catalase enzyme level. Roflumilast also reduced the PDE4B expression in a dose-dependent manner, which LPS up-regulated. Conclusion: Roflumilast has shown an anti-neuroinflammatory effect and reversed the cognitive decline in LPS-induced mice model.

    Abstract: Parkinson’s disease is the second most common progressive neurodegenerative disease diagnosed mainly based on clinical symptoms caused by loss of nigrostriatal dopaminergic neurons. Although currently available pharmacological therapies provide symptomatic relief, however, the disease continues to progress eventually leading to severe motor and cognitive decline and reduced quality of life. The hallmark pathology of Parkinson’s disease includes intraneuronal inclusions known as Lewy bodies and Lewy neurites, including fibrillar α-synuclein aggregates. These aggregates can progressively spread across synaptically connected brain regions leading to emergence of disease symptoms with time. The α-synuclein level is considered important in its fibrillization and aggregation. Nucleic acid therapeutics have recently been shown to be effective in treating various neurological diseases, raising the possibility of developing innovative molecular therapies for Parkinson’s disease. In this review, we have described the advancements in genetic dysregulations in Parkinson’s disease along with the disease-modifying strategies involved in genetic regulation with particular focus on downregulation of α-synuclein gene using various novel technologies, notably antisense oligonucleotides, microRNA, short interfering RNA, short hairpin RNAs, DNA aptamers, and gene therapy of vector-assisted delivery system-based therapeutics. In addition, the current status of preclinical and clinical development for nucleic acid-based therapies for Parkinson’s disease have also been discussed along with their limitations and opportunities.

    Abstract: This research paper aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of India's coastal and maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region, specifically focusing on explicitly the challenges and opportunities associated with seabed mining in a kind of significant way. The legal framework governing seabed mining in India is primarily established by the “Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 (MMDR Act)” in a considerable way. This act grants the central government the authority to regulate and control mining operations within India's territorial waters, exclusive economic zone, and continental shelf, which generally is reasonably significant. The paper highlights the challenges posed by seabed mining, including potential environmental impact, adherence to basically international agreements and conventions, and technological and operational challenges. It explores the importance of conducting environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and implementing mitigation measures to ensure sustainable mining practices in a big way. The steps taken to abide by the rules and regulations set by international organisations.

    Abstract: This paper delves into the complex issues surrounding submarine cables, vital for global communication and data exchange. These issues include maritime security, legal jurisdictions, and broader legalities. Because submarine cables are located deep in the world's oceans, they face numerous security threats such as sabotage, illegal fishing, and deep-sea mining, highlighting the need for comprehensive maritime security measures. Legal Jurisdiction over these cables, especially those outside territorial waters, is equally complicated. Different international norms and regulations contribute to a fragmented legal landscape, creating jurisdictional authority and regulatory compliance ambiguities. Moreover, international laws offer inconsistent solutions to cable damage, repair, and maintenance, adding further complexity. This paper examines these interconnected issues, analyzing the existing regulatory frameworks and their effectiveness in addressing submarine cables' security and legal challenges. We provide a nuanced understanding of this essential infrastructure's vulnerabilities and propose recommendations for enhanced legal frameworks, increased international cooperation, and improved security measures. This comprehensive study is particularly relevant in the current era of digital interconnectedness, where reliable, secure, and uninterrupted international data flows are crucial. We hope this paper will stimulate further discussion and research in this critical yet often underestimated international law and global security area.

    Abstract: Agrochemicals, including fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides, are widely used in agriculture to improve crop yields and protect plants from pests and diseases. There is growing concern over their impact on beneficial soil microorganisms and, indirectly, on human health. This review aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the effects of agrochemicals on soil microbial communities and human health, focusing on recent scientific research and case studies. Exploring various agrochemicals can disrupt microbial diversity, population, and functionality, affecting crucial soil processes and, in turn, ecosystem health. We delve into the pathways of human exposure to agrochemicals and the potential health implications. To mitigate the adverse effects of agrochemicals, the review highlights several alternative approaches, including the use of organic fertilizers and pesticides, precision agriculture, and genetically modified crops. Despite these advancements, research gaps persist in understanding the complex interplay between agrochemicals, beneficial microorganisms, and human health, particularly in the changing agricultural practices and climate conditions. We argue that interdisciplinary, long-term studies are needed to fill these gaps and develop sustainable, health-conscious agricultural practices. The review is intended for researchers, policymakers, and agricultural practitioners seeking to understand and address the environmental and health impacts of agrochemicals.
