    Abstract: Excessive propagation of tubificid in eutrophic source water can result in its emergence in the drinking water plant, which has been a troublesome problem in recent years. The migration of tubificid, especially drift migration in the source water is the main cause of worm pollution in drinking water plant. Migration modes and correlative factors of Tubifex tubifex, dominating the tubificid frequently, were investigated to help drinking water plant to solve worm pollution. Migration modes were divided into superficial, deep and drift migrations, representing migrations occurring in surface sediment (0–2 cm), deep sediment (deeper than 2 cm) and from sediment to overlying water, respectively. The results showed that both temperature and dissolved oxygen (DO) affect the worm migration modes. The maximum drift efficiency occurred at 22°C while DO was controlled around 8 mg O2 l−1. When the temperature was fixed at 20°C, maximum drift efficiency was observed at 2 mg O2 l−1. Distinct increase of superficial migration and decrease of deep migration were observed at 28°C compared to 16 and 22°C. Low DO appeared to be the main reason for the increase of worm’s deep migration. The results confirmed that worm drift from sediment to overlying water, which was influenced by the temperature and DO content, was the main cause of worm pollution in the drinking water plant.

    Abstract: Exploring labor rights on the cognition of relationship with labor dispute is not only from the direct role of workers and HR, but also from the fight for labor rights of college students. However, many labor disputes in labor process are mainly related to labor rights. Therefore, we explore the relationship between labor rights and labor disputes, use neural network analysis and questionnaire survey method, and execute AI combining with big data analysis tools to collect first-hand data from two aspects of college students, workers in the industry, HR and labor dispatch personnel. Finally, the results show that: (1) there is a negative correlation between social security and labor disputes; (2) there is a negative correlation between labor safety and labor disputes; (3) there is a negative correlation between wages and labor disputes; (4) there is a negative correlation between labor contract signing and labor disputes; (5) there is a positive correlation between rights awareness and labor disputes.

    Abstract: Djulis (Chenopodium formosanum) is a yearly, fast-growing, under-utilized pseudo-cereal with a high proportion of biomass content. We used the hulls, which are usually removed from djulis as crop residue, to evaluate the free-radical scavenging and antioxidant capacity of djulis. We studied the antioxidant capacity of ethanol- and water-extracted hulls and roots by using various in vitro methods. Ascorbic acid was the reference sample. The extract samples were used at 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1000 µg/mL. Total sugar content, total phenolic content, and total flavonoid content were assessed. Antioxidant activity was assessed by using the Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity, ferric reducing antioxidant power, cupric ion reducing antioxidant capacity, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity, and N, N-dimethyl-ρ-phenylenediamine. Ethanol- and water-extracted red djulis hulls showed high amounts of total sugar, total phenolic content, total flavonoid content, and antioxidant capacity. Moreover, ethanol- and water-extracted red djulis roots showed moderate antioxidant capacity. However, ethanol- and water-extracted yellow djulis hulls showed limited antioxidant activities. Utilization of the biomass of djulis hulls and roots as natural antioxidant resources may be environmentally friendly and foreseeable.

    Abstract: The internal contamination has played a significant role in eutrophication after external contamination was effectively controlled. Zeolite capping is selected to explore the release and transformation mechanisms of moderately labile organic phosphorus (MLOP) control. The result showed that the release of MLOP under weak acidic environment and weak alkaline environment are more readily achieved compared with that under neutral environments. Low temperature and light both promotes the release of MLOP. Particle sizes has no apparent effect. The release of MLOP is prohibitted by high dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration. The phosphorus released from sediments is readily absorbed by zeolite in the weak acidic or weak alkaline water body, high temperature and DO concentration.

    Abstract: The aim of the current study was to assess effectiveness of automatic braking system quantitatively using real pedestrian accident data selected from IVAC database. Based on the IVAC pedestrian accident scenarios, vehicle and pedestrian trajectories, and other information, the relative position of vehicles and pedestrians were estimated one second (0.5 second) prior to the actual crash. According to the pedestrian fatal (AIS3+) risk and compared with the real pedestrian casualty risk, the benefit of the automatic braking system was calculated. About 86.8% (82.3%) reduction in pedestrian fatal (AIS3+) injury at a field of view of 60°.

    Abstract: To investigate the changes in immunity and clinical infection events among patients with chronic insomnia. Materials and methods Forty-two patients with chronic insomnia (age = 64.44 ± 10.53) and 47 normal controls (age = 67.08 ± 7.822) were selected to determine differences in data, such as complete blood counts (CBCs), biochemical indices, lymphocyte subsets, immunoglobulin (Ig), complement C3 and C4 and interleukin-6 (IL-6), as well as to compare the incidence of clinical infection between the two groups. Results There were significant differences in erythrocyte, hemoglobin, hematocrit, albumin, globulin, creatinine, IgG, IgG/IgM ratio, CD4 + T-lymphocytes, CD19-lymphocytes, CD4 + /CD8 + ratio, platelet/lymphocyte ratio, CD19/CD3 ratio, and clinical infection events between the chronic insomnia group and the control group ( p & lt; 0.05). There was no significant difference in neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocyte, and platelet counts; lymphocyte subsets CD8 + T and CD56 + ; platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR); neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR); complement C3; complement C4; IgM; IgA; and IL-6 between the experimental group and their controls ( p & gt; 0.05). The systolic and diastolic blood pressures of the chronic insomnia group did not vary widely from those of the controls ( p & gt; 0.05). Conclusion Patients with chronic insomnia have immunological abnormalities, characterized by a higher incidence of clinical infection.

    Abstract: Aquatic macro-organisms, such as naidids, propagate excessively in biological activated carbon (BAC) filters. This has become a troublesome problem for drinking water plants. For successful control of naidid contamination risk, it is necessary to determine the population dynamics under different environmental conditions within drinking water plants, with special emphasis on BAC filters. In this study, field studies of naidid distribution in a drinking water plant were conducted, and the effects of temperature and dissolved oxygen (DO) on naidid population dynamics were investigated using the life table method. The results indicated that naidid pollution in the water plant occurred seasonally and was induced by the excessive propagation of naidids in the BAC filters. Increased temperature and DO increased the naidid intrinsic rate of natural increase and decreased the naidid population doubling time. The life table method was also used to acquire the reproductive parameters of naidids in BAC filters based on simulative experiments. These results indicated that naidids can reproduce asexually in BAC filters, and the population doubling time was 12.60 days.

    Abstract: Excessive propagation of Tubifex tubifex in eutrophic source water can result in the emergence of them in the drinking water plant, which has been a troublesome problem in recent years. Our objectives were to investigate the driving force of drift and quantify the influence of temperature and DO on the worm drift. Results showed that one of the major driving forces of the worm drift was water flow, which exhibited its effect by direct shear stress on the worm or inducing sediment suspension. The worm drift rates were increased with the decrease of temperature and DO content. The results confirmed that worm drift from sediment to overlying water, which was induced by water flow and could be influenced by temperature, DO content and sediment property was the main cause of worm pollution in drinking water plant.

    Abstract: The market contains only limited health care products that combine prebiotics and probiotics. In this study, we developed a seaweed-based Gracilaria coronopifolia synbiotic and verified the efficacy by small intestinal cells (Caco-2). We also developed a functional material that promotes intestinal health and prevents intestinal inflammation. G. coronopifolia was used as a red seaweed prebiotic, and Bifidobacterium bifidums, B. longum subsp. infantis, B. longum subsp. longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and L. delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus were mixed for the seaweed’s synbiotics. G. coronopifolia synbiotics were nontoxic to Caco-2 cells, and the survival rate was 101% to 117% for a multiplicative effect on cell survival. After cells were induced by H2O2, the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) increased to 151.5%, but after G. coronopifolia synbiotic treatment, decreased to a range between 101.8% and 109.6%. After cells were induced by tumor necrosis factor α, the ROS levels increased to 124.5%, but decreased to 57.7% with G. coronopifolia symbiotic treatment. G. coronopifolia synbiotics could effectively inhibit the production of ROS intestinal cells under oxidative stress (induced by H2O2 and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α)), which can reduce the damage of cells under oxidative stress. Functioning of intestinal cells could be improved by inhibiting the production of inflammatory factor substances (interleukin 8) with G. coronopifolia symbiotic treatment. Also, gastrointestinal diseases may be retarded by a synbiotic developed from G. coronopifolia to promote intestinal health and prevent intestinal inflammation.
