Abstract: Background: To determine the molecular subtypes and correlation between molecular subtypes and histopathological features in breast cancer in Vietnam and Italy. Material and method: 88 patients with invasive breast carcinoma (BC) in both Hue Central Hospital and Hue University Hospital in Vietnam during 1 year from April 2016 to April 2017 as well as 235 patients from the same category of women in Sassari University Hospital, Italy during the year 2016 were collected. All patients were examined for immunohistochemistry (IHC) with four markers ER, PR, HER2, and Ki67. The immunofluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) test was applied for cases with HER2 (2+)/ IHC. Results: Breast cancer in Vietnam had the highest Luminal B (LB) rate, at 37.5%, followed by HER2 enrich (22.7%) and triple-negative breast cancer accounting for 21.6%. Luminal A (LA) accountd for the lowest proportion (18.2%). In contrast, breast cancer in Italy has the highest rate of Luminal A (54%), LB accounted for 34.5%, triple-negative occupied 10.6% and HER2 enrichment has a very low rate (0.9%). There was a statistically significant correlation between molecular subtypes and pathological features such as histologic grade, axillary lymph node, and stage of disease in both Vietnamese and Italian groups (p 〈 0.005). Most breast cancers in Vietnam and Italy belong to the Luminal A with low histologic grade, early-stage disease, and no metastasis. No statistically significant association was found between molecular subtypes and tumor size in the Vietnamese breast cancer group. By contrast, this association was statistically significant with p 〈 0.05 in Italy. Conclusion: There is a significant difference in the molecular subtypes and the correlation between molecular subtypes and histopathological features between Vietnamese and Italian breast cancers. The two more common subtypes in Vietnam are LB and HER2, while in Italy they are LA and LB. The rate of HER2 subtypes in Vietnam is much higher than in Italy Key words: Invasive breast carcinoma, molecular subtype, Vietnam, Italy

Abstract: A metal-organic framework Cu2(NDC)2(DABCO) was synthesized from copper nitrate trihydrate, 2,6-Napthalenedicarboxylic acid (H2NDC), and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) by solvothermal method. Its physicochemical properties were confirmed by several techniques such as X-ray powder diffraction (PXRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Cu2(NDC)2(DABCO) appeared as well-shaped crystals. To get diphenyl sulfide as desired product from the C-S cross coupling reaction of iodobenzene and thiophenol, the Cu2(NDC)2(DABCO) was used as heterogeneous catalyst  in the presence of LiO-tBu as base. The results showed that the transformation could proceed with more than 93% reaction conversion being obtained after 6 h at 120 oC when using 5 mol% Cu2(NDC)2(DABCO) catalyst in the presence of LiO-tBu. The solid catalyst could be recovered and reused five times without a significant degradation in catalytic activity. The coupling reaction could only proceed to achieve major product in the presence of the Cu2(NDC)2(DABCO catalyst.

Abstract: Low aqueous solubility and poor bioavailability of curcumin have limited its application in various fields. One approach to address this issue is to formulate a nanosuspension that incorporates curcumin, which has been previously shown to exhibit remarkably improved solubility in comparison with that of a bare compound. In this study, the preparation process of curcumin nanosuspension was optimized with a median particle size as the outcome. Gum arabic was used as a natural polymeric surfactant and the suspension was formulated using high speed homogenization. Optimization results, realized via a response surface methodology, showed that a minimum median particle size (8.524 µm) could be attained under the following conditions: curcumin:gum arabic ratio of 1:6 g/g; homogenization speed of 8300 rpm and homogenization time of 40 min. Under these conditions, the particle size of obtained suspension was shown to be consistent for around seven days without major aggregation. The homogenization process could be scaled up to five times in terms of suspension volume. TEM also showed that curcumin nanoparticles had a nearly spherical shape and homogeneous structure with a size range of 40–80 nm.

Abstract: Diversification of products that are derived from essential oils carries important implications in reducing agricultural waste and promoting the medicinal materials industry. In this study, we formulated a shampoo and a body wash product incorporated with lemongrass ( Cymbopogon citratus ) essential oils (LEOs) and evaluated their color stability and the LEO compositional change. We first determined the color change and chemical composition of bare LEO under different storage conditions. Afterward, the washing product base was formulated, and its formulation process was optimized to minimize the color change by varying a wide range of parameters including pH, the inclusion of preservatives and antioxidants, LEO/antioxidant ratio, and emulsification temperature. The base product was then used in body wash and shampoo formulation following our previously reported procedure. The results indicated that direct incorporation of the LEO into the cosmetic products resulted in better color stability and citral retention in comparison with emulsion formation. In addition, shampoo and body wash products showed no detectible presence of compounds resulting from citral decomposition such as 3,7-dimethyl-1,3,6-octatriene, p -mentha-1,5-dien-8-ol, and p -cymene-8-ol. The current findings are expected to aid in diversifying LEO-derived commodities and justifying scalability of the cosmetics production process with a focus on the incorporation of naturally derived ingredients.
