Abstract:
High- T c superconductor YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7- y was irradiated by γ-rays and 14 MeV neutrons to a dose up to 2.5×10 9 rad and 2×10 15 n/cm 2 , respectively. No significant effects on the critical temperature were found in these irradiations, but the resistivity at 273 K changed slightly. It was concluded from this experiment that electronic process was not very influential in changing the T c and the effects of 14 MeV neutrons on defect formation were assumed to be comparable to those of inpile neutrons.
