Abstract:
A superionic conductor LiNiO 2 is a promising candidate for the positive electrode material of secondary Li ion battery. We have performed the reflection measurements of the nearly stoichiometric LiNiO 2 in the millimeter wave region from 6 to 60 cm -1 . The reflectivity has almost the constant value of 0.25 in the observed spectra region below 197 K. However, the reflectivity starts to rise at 300 K and changes its value significantly from about 0.25 to 0.8 in the low energy region below 10 cm -1 as the temperature is increased. This is the first observation of such a phenomena and the possible origin of this significant phenomena is discussed.
