Abstract:
There is increasing demand for predictive biomarker testing on cytology samples in patients with lung cancer, and such predictive immunocytochemistry (ICC) is largely limited to cell blocks (CBs). An analysis of various factors influencing ICC and a review of the published literature reveals that cytology specimens are principally suitable for predictive ICC, but proper optimization and rigorous quality control are essential, particularly for non‐CB preparations.
