Abstract:
The recent commentary by Brown et al. contains a number of important warnings about possible dangers in the treatment of Reye's syndrome. There is, however, one additional warning which must be added. The authors speak of Reye's snydrome as a disease rather than as a syndrome. This may seem to be a minor point, but it has significant implications. A disease is an entity with a specific cause, natural history, etc. A syndrome is a group of symptoms and signs with diverse causes, natural histories, etc.
