Abstract: Globally, we face a rapid double growth of the ageing population that urges an integrated framework plan by connecting the health and social care disciplines as a shared and continuum of care approach. Bridging the gap between health and social care is required to meet the demand of ageing population needs, the readiness of the stakeholders, and community as a holistic approach. This article provides an overview of the evidence gap between social care and healthcare through a scoping review. Articles retrieved related to social and health care for older adults in the Asia region were identified through a compilation of PubMed, SAGE, Springer, and Google Scholar searches between the years 2015 to 2021. Only twelve articles were used for result generation. The majority highlights the constraint on financial support, issues related to culture, human resource competency and community participation. The systematic review of the current work provides valuable insight for future researchers and policymakers in designing sustainable development integrated long term care (LTC) framework models and plans.

Abstract: Since a long time ago, consumers have never been completely safe from exposure to the risk of purchasing defective products, which may cause an adverse effect on them. The introduction of the doctrines of caveat emptor and caveat venditor became a part of the common law to resolve disputes between manufacturers, sellers, and consumers. This study therefore aims to analyze the application of the caveat emptor and caveat venditor doctrines according to civil and Islamic perspectives to see how far the application of both doctrines can provide justice to consumers. Utilizing doctrinal approach based on the methodology of qualitative legal research, this study involves in-depth analysis of statutory provisions, court cases, Quranic texts, hadiths, and the opinions of Muslim scholars. The research findings were analyzed through content analysis and critical analysis methods. This study has proven that there are legal problems with regards to the application of the caveat emptor doctrine and its resulting negative impact on consumers, thus leading to the formation of the caveat venditor doctrine. Although the term “caveat venditor” and its definition are not expressly mentioned in the Qur’an and the hadiths, the application of the doctrine is seen to have a strong foundation in Islam. The results of this study are expected to contribute significant new knowledge in the field of consumer law since a comparative analysis of the application of both doctrines according to civil and Islamic perspectives is still lacking, especially in cases involving the selling of defective products.

Abstract: Family communication often becomes an important discourse in the discussion on family function as one of an entity in our society. Parents are the pillars in providing a good environment in the family. Communication among family members and siblings is also found affecting the decision-making process and clear communication between parents and child can bring them to a very positive and effective interaction. McLeod and Chaffee (1972) formulated the quadrant family communication pattern framework namely, permissive, pluralistic, prohibitive and protective. Applying this framework, this study aimed to identify patterns of family communication between parents and their children in the choice of a life partner. Using a survey method, questionnaires were distributed to 400 respondents throughout Peninsular Malaysia and analyzed using Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) version 23. The mean analysis was performed to identify the most dominant family communication patterns when discussing marriage matters. The study found that protective family communication pattern showed the highest level of practice among all communication patterns and have proven to be a significant contributor for Malaysian youth on their decisions towards marriage and life partner choices. The results from this study contribute to the understanding of the importance of communication among family in the decision making with regards to marriage. The present study adds to the existing knowledge on the importance of communication among family members and provides direction for future research work in this area. Keywords: Family communication, pattern, youth, marriage, protective family.

Abstract: As most countries use currencies to denote paper money created as a medium of exchange for buying and selling goods or services. Nevertheless, there are attempts from several entities to create a crypto asset named cryptocurrencies which aims to replace the functions of paper money. The issue arises whether cryptocurrency is valid to be used as a currency or investment asset according to Shariah’s perspective. This article aims to clarify the Shariah views on the legality of cryptocurrency, analyze the suitability of cryptocurrencies as a currency or investment assets, and finally, suggest that cryptocurrency is one of the investment assets or commodities in line with the requirements of Shariah. The research adopts pure legal research methodology utilizing content analysis on the primary and secondary sources. The research findings revealed that Islamic scholars have conflicting views regarding the legality of cryptocurrency as a means of exchange to replace the function of paper money and as an investment asset. Nevertheless, cryptocurrency and crypto assets are required today because of Maqasid Shariah, maslahah, and qawaid fiqhiyyah. Future research should focus on the usage and practice of cryptocurrency worldwide and its legal application in specific countries. Keywords: cryptocurrency, currency, investment

Abstract: Community volunteering is defined as voluntary participation in activities and services to benefit the local community. It has potential benefits to promote social, physical, and mental well-being, and it enhances productive, healthy, and active aging. The tendency to volunteer varies across individuals and communities. There is limited knowledge of contributing factors influencing volunteering among Malaysian adults over the age of 50. Aims The present study aims to assess the association of demographic, cultural, and social factors with volunteering among Malaysian adults over the age of 50. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2020 involving 3,034 Malaysians aged 50 years and above across Malaysia, selected using a multi-stratified random sampling technique based on National Census 2020 data. A validated survey questionnaire to determine the demographic factor (age, sex, education level, employment status, health status, physical disability, and location of residence), cultural factor (ethnicity and religion), and social factor (social support, marital status, living arrangement, mode of transportation) that influence voluntary participation was distributed and collected. The association between these factors and volunteer participation was analysed using logistic regression models to identify significant predictors of voluntary participation among Malaysian adults over the age of 50. Results A regression model indicates that living in rural areas (OR 2.03, 95% CI 1.63–2.53), having higher education level (Tertiary level: OR 2.77, 95% CI 1.86–4.13), being employed (OR 1.31, 95% CI 1.10–1.56), differences in ethnicity background (Chinese: OR 0.58, 95% CI 0.39–0.86) and ease of transportation (Driving private transport: OR 1.26, 95% CI 1.19–1.32; Public transport: OR 1.07, 95% CI 1.00–1.154) were significantly associated with volunteering with R 2 Nagelkerke of 0.147. Conclusion Recognising various factors towards community volunteering should be addressed by policymakers and volunteer organisations to increase volunteer participation from potential adults over the age of 50 in promoting healthy and active ageing.

Abstract: In this decade, the entire world realized that a healthy environment is needed for mitigating catastrophic issues created by the nature. Thus, the green bond was introduced in 2007, and the green Sukuk was issued in 2017. Malaysia took the pioneering role for issuing green Sukuk and issued ten green Sukuk within 2020. Furthermore, Indonesia has taken initiative for issuing five green Sukuk in 2018. Besides that, Saudi Arabia issued two green Sukuk and the United Arab Emirates also issued two green Sukuk in 2019. As the green Sukuk was issued in various sectors which created a curiosity to know, what are the policies were created, how did they apply and how do they impact on the environment. Accordingly, the study aims to find out implemented policies to mitigate challenges for issuing all green Sukuk in four nations. So, this study was conducted through case studies on green Sukuk by analysing available data from the green Sukuk issuers, ministries, published literature and others. The study found that green Sukuk issuers were implemented the same policies that applied to issue green bonds and still remain a great challenge. It is because, every nation has a different geographical atmosphere, culture, religion and human behaviours. In addition, the study also found that all of the green Sukuk-issued projects were selected to reduce air pollution. Therefore, further research is needed on policy and project creation according to the nation for controlling other factors, such as; pollution (water, land, and sound), deforestation, and others.

Abstract: Dalam mencapai kesejahteraan ummah, pengurusan kekayaan menerusi pelbagai instrumen perancangan harta adalah penting.
