    Abstract: Gas diffusion is a pivotal process during shale gas recovery, which is determined by diffusion coefficient to a large extent. In previous studies, the gas diffusion coefficient is generally assumed as a constant. However, increasing experiments prove that the diffusion coefficient of shale gas is strongly time-dependent. Therefore, to perfect the theory of shale gas diffusion, this paper proposes a time-dependent diffusion model for shale gas, which incorporates time-dependent gas diffusion coefficient, composing of the bulk diffusion coefficient for free gas in organic and inorganic pores, as well as the surface diffusion coefficient for adsorbed gas in organic pores. To validate the accuracy of the new theory, we calibrate the theoretical results against experimental data, and the results show that they have strong correlation, and the time-dependent diffusion model is superior to classical model. Finally, the numerical analysis of gas dynamic diffusion process in shale matrix is conducted. The results show that at the end of diffusion, a large amounts of shale gas remain trapped in the matrix core due to the attenuation of gas diffusion coefficient. In addition, neglecting the time-dependent nature of gas diffusion in shale matrix leads to a significant overestimation of gas production.

    Abstract: To analyze the fractal characteristics of coal rock failure under unloading conditions, triaxial unloading confining pressure tests were carried out on coal and sandstone rock samples under different unloading rates and initial confining pressures. We examined the distribution of the surface cracks and fragmentation of the coal and sandstone samples that failed under different triaxial unloading confining pressure tests. The results showed that the fractal dimension of the surface cracks in coal and sandstone decreased as the initial unloading confining pressure increased. Thus, shear failure is more obvious in coal or sandstone with high-stress conditions caused by unloading confining pressure than in coal or sandstone with low-stress conditions. However, the fractal dimension of the surface cracks increased with the unloading rates. Additionally, the fractal dimension of the fragmentation in the coal and sandstone samples had a negative correlation with the initial unloading confining pressure. When the initial confining pressure was relatively low, the samples underwent splitting and shear failure; when the initial confining pressure was higher, the failure mode was mostly shear failure and the fragmentation of the samples was less homogeneous. In contrast, the fractal dimension of the fragmentation in the coal and sandstone increased with higher unloading rates. The lithology had a significant effect on the fractal dimension of the surface cracks and on the fragmentation. Samples with more internal fissures had more surface cracks and the fragmentation was more homogeneous when the rock failed compared with samples with less fissures under the same experimental conditions.

    Abstract: Early response could be obtained in most patients with relapsed or refractory B cell lymphoblastic leukemia (R/R B-ALL) treated with chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy, but relapse occurs in some patients. There is no consensus on treatment strategy post CAR-T cell therapy. In this retrospective study of humanized CD19-targeted CAR-T cell (hCART19s) therapy for R/R B-ALL, we analyzed the patients treated with allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) or received a second hCART19s infusion, and summarized their efficacy and safety. We retrospectively studied 28 R/R B-ALL patients treated with hCART19s in the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University from 2016 to 2020. After the first hCART19s infusion, 10 patients received allo-HSCT (CART+HSCT group), 7 patients received a second hCART19s infusion (CART2 group), and 11 patients did not receive HSCT or a second hCART19s infusion (CART1 group). The safety, efficacy, and long-term survival were analyzed. Of the 28 patients who received hCART19s treatment, 1 patient could not be evaluated for efficacy, and 25 (92.6%) achieved complete remission (CR) with 20 (74.7%) achieving minimal residual disease (MRD) negativity. Seven (25%) patients experienced grade 3-4 CRS, and one died from grade 5 CRS. No patient experienced ≥3 grade ICANS. The incidence of second CR is higher in the CART+HSCT group compared to the CART2 group (100% vs. 42.9%, p = 0.015). The median follow-up time was 1,240 days (range: 709–1,770). Significantly longer overall survival (OS) and leukemia-free survival (LFS) were achieved in the CART+HSCT group (median OS and LFS: not reached, p = 0.006 and 0.001, respectively) compared to the CART2 group (median OS: 482; median LFS: 189) and the CART1 group (median OS: 236; median LFS: 35). In the CART+HSCT group, the incidence of acute graft- versus -host disease (aGVHD) was 30% (3/10), and transplantation-related mortality was 30% (3/10). No chronic GVHD occurred. Multivariate analysis results showed that blasts ≥ 20% in the bone marrow and MRD ≥ 65.6% are independent factors for inferior OS and LFS, respectively, while receiving allo-HSCT is an independent factor associated with both longer OS and LFS. In conclusion, early allo-HSCT after CAR-T therapy can achieve long-term efficacy, and the adverse events are controllable.

    Abstract: Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) molecules have garnered considerable interest since its first appearance in 2001. Recent studies on AIE materials in biological and medical areas have demonstrated that they show their promise as biomaterials for bioimaging and other biomedical applications. Benefiting from significant advantages of their high sensitivity, excellent photostability, and good biocompatibility, AIE-based materials provide dramatically improved analytical capacities for in vivo detection and demonstration of vital biological processes. Herein, we introduce the development history of AIE molecules and recent progress in areas of biotesting and bioimaging. Additionally, this review also offers an outlook for the potential applications of versatile AIE materials for tracing and treating pathological tissues, including overcoming challenges and feasible solutions.

    Abstract: As a microenvironment where cells reside, the extracellular matrix (ECM) has a complex network structure and appropriate mechanical properties to provide structural and biochemical support for the surrounding cells. In tissue engineering, the ECM and its derivatives can mitigate foreign body responses by presenting ECM molecules at the interface between materials and tissues. With the widespread application of three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting, the use of the ECM and its derivative bioinks for 3D bioprinting to replicate biomimetic and complex tissue structures has become an innovative and successful strategy in medical fields. In this review, we summarize the significance and recent progress of ECM-based biomaterials in 3D bioprinting. Then, we discuss the most relevant applications of ECM-based biomaterials in 3D bioprinting, such as tissue regeneration and cancer research. Furthermore, we present the status of ECM-based biomaterials in current research and discuss future development prospects.

    Abstract: Many rocks often have the electrical anisotropy property that produces quite different responses from the electrical isotropic rocks. We applied an advanced modeling method to calculate the apparent resistivity responses over an anisotropic target in a homogenous isotropic backgound and an isotropic target embedded in different anisotropic host rocks. We demonstrated comprehensive modeling experiments to characterize the responses of surface pole-pole surveys to the buried targets in different geological backgrounds, which vary in the principal resistivities and Euler angles of the targets or the host rocks. Our modeling results show that: (i) the location of current injection controls the apparent resistivity images in value and shape; (ii) almost circle-contours or more or less elongated contours appear in the apparent resistivity images for the anisotropic targets; (iii) the isotropic target embedded in the anisotropic host rock generates some radial patterns from the current injection point; (iv) the anisotropy strike angles can be obtained from the symmetry axis of the apparent resistivity contours; and (v) multiple locations of current injections throughout the detection region are necessary for the surface pole-pole survey to avoid misleading data interpretation.
