Abstract:
Mental health screening in schools optimizes early identification of individual student mental health needs and can inform service planning for mental health promotion, prevention, early intervention, and treatment. Schools or districts interested in mental health screening can get started by screening a few students first, then scaling up to a classroom or grade level at a time to develop a sustainable set of practices. Mental health screening practices in schools should be informed by feedback from school administrators, educators, mental health providers, students, and families.
