Abstract: Background: Arsenic Trioxide (ATO) as a single agent, has proven efficacy in inducing molecular remission in patients with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL). It is commonly used to treat relapsed APL. But there is Limited study on ATO in the management of newly diagnosed cases of APL. The concerned study was done to evaluate the effectiveness and outcome of ATO in remission induction of new cases of APL in the context of a limited resource hospital in Bangladesh. Methods: From March 2008 to March 2010, 20 patients with Promyelocytic Leukemia (PML) / Retinoic Acid Receptor ? (RAR ?) + newly diagnosed APL were enrolled. All patients were treated with a regimen of single-agent arsenic trioxide till remission at our center. After remission the regimen was administered on outpatient basis. Results: Overall 15 (75%) patients achieved complete hematological remission. 12 (80%) patients achieved molecular remission after induction phase and 3 (20%) after completion of consolidation phase. At a median follow up of 36 months (Range 25 -44 months), Disease Free Survival (DFS) and Overall Survival (OS) 86.6% and 85.3% respectively. Relatively young patients with long form of t (15;17) had shown good response with this response. However, the response is slower than All Trans Retinoic Acid (ATRA). Patients presenting with high White Blood Cell (WBC) count, low platelet count, variable form of t (15;17) are found to respond poorly. The toxicity profile, in the majority, was mild and reversible. Treatment cost was also reduced than that of conventional regimen. Conclusion: Single-agent arsenic trioxide as used in this study in the management of newly diagnosed cases of APL is safe, cost beneficent and is associated with durable responses. But additional interventions as combining ATRA with ATO would probably required in high risk cases.Chatt Maa Shi Hosp Med Coll J; Vol.14 (2); Jul 2015; Page 5-10

Abstract: Background: Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) is a malignant disease of the bone marrow in which lymphoid precursors undergoes a sequence of somatic mutations leading to excessive proliferation and replaces the normal hematopoietic cells of the bone marrow. CNS involvement with lymphoblast is associated with a very poor prognosis and reduced overall survival. CNS may be   involved at diagnosis or relapse. In this study we used conventional biochemical and cytological analysis of CSF along with Flow cytometry to detect lymphoblast in CSF. Methods: This is an observational study conducted in department of haematology, Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) from July 2017 to December 2017. Purposive sampling was done. After taking informed written consent properly CSF was taken from lumber puncture for cytology, biochemistry and for flow cytometry. After proper data collection sample was analyse using SPSS 20 for Windows 7 program version. Results: Total 50 patients of ALL were included in this study. Flow cytometry (FCM) of CSF fluid showed 10 patients (20%) have CNS involvement. Median age CNS disease vs without CNS disease were 29 vs 21 years (p 〉 0.05). Among the 50 participants 30 were male and 20 were female. Among the 10 patients with CNS diseases 6 were male and 4 were female. 46 cases were newly diagnosed ALL (92%). Among new cases 6 (13%) had CNS involvement. Among 4 relapsed cases 100% had CNS involvement (p 〈 0.001). Patients with or without CNS involvement had median haemoglobin, WBC, and blasts respectively 7.2g/dl and 7.15g/dl, 21x103/µl and 26 x103/µl, and 65% and 45% (p 〉 0.05). Among patients who had CNS involvement 50% had T cell involvement and another 50 had B cell involvement. The most common translocation was t(12;21) found in 24 (48%) patients. t(9:22) was present in 9 (18%) cases (5 with CNS involvement and 4 without CNS involvement). Conclusion: Although acute lymphoblastic leukaemia is a common malignancy of childhood, but it can also affect adults. This study revealed that median age of the ALL in our country is second decade with slight male preponderance. About one fifth of the patients had CNS involvement with equal sharing of B and T cell origin.

Abstract: Bangladesh – China relationship has been fantastic by the political, monetary and military ties throughout the most recent few decades. Key relations among Bangladesh and China were set up in 1976, and to be straightforward, various specialists on worldwide relations dissected the method of two-sided relations since the establishment of placating relations 45 years back, and applauded dynamic joint effort and affiliation that have been preceding between the two countries various regions of common interest. They reviewed that the relations between the people of these two nations go back to hundreds of years. However, it is emphasized that the progressive heads of these two nations made significant commitments to the advancement of China-Bangladesh relations. Moreover, it can be mentioned that the solidification and upgradation of China-Bangladesh relation and participation serve the major interests of these two nations, meet the regular goals of the people and help towards building harmony and improvement in the areas of development. Thus it is suggested that a "Closer Complete Organization of Participation" between China and Bangladesh is set up based on the standards of longstanding kinship, uniformity, and shared advantage. With the unique initiative of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the two nations have assented to keep on state visits and contacts between government associations, parliaments, philosophical gatherings, military, and non-authoritative social occasions of the two countries; advance correspondence and coordinated effort at the public authority level. Her administration empowers to redesign the investment instruments, including key gatherings, the Joint Monetary and Exchange Board of trustees and Joint Horticulture Council. Various gatherings have been attempting to heighten support in return, hypothesis, cultivation, transportation and structure improvement dependent on value and basic benefit between the two countries. "Belt and Road Initiative" has been contributory to develop the shared interest of the two nations. “Sister Cities” alliance is the last addition to deepen the mutual interest of both countries. This paper is aimed to investigate current trade, agreements, investment, agriculture, transportation and infrastructural development in the pursuit of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China. This article has tremendously attempted to disclose the present pattern of two-sided relations between Bangladesh and China under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina in the office of Prime Minister in Bangladesh. Article has been worked out based on literature review and analysis has been made consulting the recent scholarships.

Abstract: The industrial tea waste reinforced jute polyester composites (ITW-JPC) were prepared by hand lay-up method for six different wt% (0%, 3%, 6%, 9%, 12%, and 15%) at 115˚C temperature. The effect of industrial tea waste filler on mechanical, physical, structural, and thermal properties in jute polyester composites were evaluated. It is found that tensile strength and flexural strength improved continuously with increasing filler loading up to 9wt% but decreased at 12wt% due to weak interfacial bonding and irregular distribution of filler and matrix. The maximum value of elongation at break (%) and Rockwell hardness were found in 0wt% and 15wt% composites respectively. The hardness increases when the resistance of the materials to the deformation increases. It is seen that water absorption and soil degradation are enhanced for all composites with the accumulation of filler content and time. The structural examination and functional group identification were investigated by using Fourier Transformation Infrared (FTIR) analysis. Thermal analysis of ITW-JPC showed that thermal degradation of composites started almost at the same time and the degradation of composites was occurring in three stages. Surface morphology and interfacial properties such as internal cracks, and fiber pull-out were examined through scanning electron microscopic (SEM) analysis.

Abstract: How to detect the data in the video image sequence and analyze it efficiently by using the artificial intelligence method is a frontline topic in the field of computer vision. Global wind energy resources are abundant, widely distributed, clean, and pollution-free and meet the requirements of sustainable economic and social development, so relying on the large-scale development and utilization of wind energy has been the common choice of many countries. A major goal of artificial intelligence research is to enable machines to perform complex tasks that normally require human intelligence to perform. The purpose of this study is to detect the video image sequence of wind power equipment based on artificial intelligence and analyze the effectiveness of the algorithm. In this study, augmented reality is used as an auxiliary means. According to the characteristics of the video image inside the fan, a moving target region detection algorithm based on the background difference method is proposed. The algorithm uses the difference between the current image and the background image, uses the first-order Kalman filter to update the dynamic background image, and then uses the adaptive threshold method to segment the moving region. After filtering, the moving target area can be obtained. The results show that the positive detection rate of 980 test samples is 99.6%, and the training time is only 3.785. It is concluded that the accuracy and the number of support vectors of this algorithm are better than other algorithms in the case of the same value of C. It shows that this study has a good detection effect. It provides an effective method for video image sequence detection of wind power equipment.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to investigate the socioeconomic and demographic factors influencing the body mass index (BMI) of non-pregnant married Bangladeshi women of reproductive age. Secondary (Hierarchy) data from the 2011 Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey, collected using two-stage stratified cluster sampling, were used. Two-level linear regression analysis was performed to remove the cluster effect of the variables. The mean BMI of married non-pregnant Bangladeshi women was 21.60±3.86 kg/m 2 , and the prevalence of underweight, overweight and obesity was 22.8%, 14.9% and 3.2%, respectively. After removing the cluster effect, age and age at first marriage were found to be positively ( p 〈 0.01) related with BMI. Number of children was negatively related with women’s BMI. Lower BMI was especially found among women from rural areas and poor families, with an uneducated husband, with no television at home and who were currently breast-feeding. Age, total children ever born, age at first marriage, type of residence, education level, level of husband’s education, wealth index, having a television at home and practising breast-feeding were found to be important predictors for the BMI of married Bangladeshi non-pregnant women of reproductive age. This information could be used to identify sections of the Bangladeshi population that require special attention, and to develop more effective strategies to resolve the problem of malnutrition.
