Kurzfassung: The study was designed to purify enzyme from weed plant in association with wheat crop to assess and compare the purification and biochemical properties with acid phosphatases of seedlings of various plants. Acid phosphatase from seedlings of Rumex dentatus (Curly dock) was purified by different chromatography and chromatofocusing techniques with specific activity of 63U/mg of protein. The yield was about 3%. Single band was detected on SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis confirming the enzyme was homogeneous. Apparent molecular weight of 48 kDa was obtained. Gel filtration experiment indicated that native enzyme had a approximately molecular weight of 96 kDa, suggesting that this enzyme is homodimer. The enzyme showed Km value of 0.5 mM and Vmax of 60 and#181;M of p-nitrophenyl phosphate hydrolysed/min/mg of protein under experimental conditions. The optimum pH of 5.0 and temperature of 50and#176;C were obtained. Divalent cations such as copper and zinc ions caused acid phosphatase inhibition but the presence of 20 mM EDTA in the enzyme-metal ions incubation mixtures reversed the enzyme inhibition to some extent. The activity of 54 % and 63% were recovered back, respectively. Ca2+ and Mg2+ had very small activating effect on activity in the absence or presence of EDTA. The reaction of enzyme with iodoacetic acid or N-ethyl-maleimide had no inhibitory effect, pointing to a non-involvement of cysteine residues in enzyme action. Further, β-mercaptoethanol or dithiothreitol at low concentrations had very little activating effect revealing that SH-group containing amino acid in the enzyme may not be significant for its catalytic activity. The pH dependent variation of Km study showed that histidine may constitute a part of the active site. Acid phosphatase was competitively inhibited by phosphate and vanadate. Fluoride and Zn2+ acted as non-competitive inhibitors while molybdate showed mixed type of inhibition.

Kurzfassung: This study’s purpose is to provide up-to-date knowledge on the connection between periodontal disease and diabetes from the standpoint of oral health, and its goal is to accomplish this through presenting the material. Both diseases are the consequence of a range of different factors that can either cause the disease to begin or modify the disease's progression. The likelihood that a person may develop either sickness varies from person to person, and both diseases are caused by a variety of different conditions. Chronic periodontal disease has been hypothesized to influence how diabetes develops over time, while diabetes has been hypothesized to increase the prevalence of periodontitis. Both hypotheses have been tested. Because atherosclerosis, poor sugar metabolism, and oral infections all appear to be related to one another, there is a possibility that there is a connection between metabolic syndrome and periodontal disease. Those with type 2 diabetes who are successful in treating their periodontal disease may have an improvement in their ability to control their blood sugar. If glucose regulation is improved, there is a possibility that periodontal disease can be managed more effectively.

Kurzfassung: Loneliness is the one of the common phase experienced during COVID-19 pandemic. It has impacted mental health of all ages specifically children and adolescents. The aim of this review was to assess level of loneliness and mental health related impacts of COVID-19 among both; children and adolescents. For this literature review, two independent reviewers searched articles on Cochrane library, MEDLINE, Google Scholar and Science-direct. Both MeSH terms and free text terms were used for search purposes between December 01, 2019 and December 30, 2021. A total of 14 studies met inclusion criteria and of these, 8 studies were related to mental health related impacts of COVID-19 pandemic whereas 6 studies involved both aspects i.e. loneliness and mental health among children and adolescents. One study was qualitative, one interventional, and remaining 12 were cross-sectional surveys. The findings of this review suggest an increase in level of loneliness and mental health related impacts during COVID-19 pandemic among children and adolescents. Loneliness, social distancing and internet usage therefore re strongly correlated with mental health related issues including stress, anxiety and depression.

Kurzfassung: The deficiency of vitamin D is public among hemodialysis (HD) patients and is a key factor in the development of secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT). Secondary hyperparathyroidism is currently accomplished by lowering circulating phosphate levels with parathyroid hormone (PTH), vitamin D analogs, and oral binders. The current study aim was to assess the efficacy of cholecalciferol in the management of secondary hyperparathyroidism in hemodialysis patients with concomitant vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency. A total of 53 patients were taken with25 male and 28 female patients. After treating patients with cholecalciferol, serum PTH levels improved significantly, with mean pre-treatment levels of 486.99±191.10, which had decreased to a mean post-treatment level of 301.66±201.08. Serum Vitamin D levels also improved significantly, with mean pre-treatment levels of 10.86±4.98, which increased to a mean post-treatment level of 29.98±17.24. Patients treated with cholecalciferol had no significant change in phosphorous and calcium levels. Kurzfassung: Diabetes has become the most prevalent endocrine disorder as it has continued to increase. Diabetes mellitus cases are remarkably increasing in our country every year. Diabetes is characterized by a pathophysiology that leaves diabetic patients more prone to infection and to developing skin and soft tissue infections that are more complicated. The risk of infection is increased in diabetic patients, and their mutation potential is detrimental, resulting in a higher morbidity and mortality rate than in the general population. Infections of the skin and soft tissues (SSTIs) involve microbial invasions, and they differ in presentation and severity. A total 445 participants 15 to 〉 40 years of age participated in this study. Out of total respondent, 48.53% and 51.46% were male and female, respectively. Among the total, the highest percentage of the respondent were around 36- 40 years old 52 (22.70%) followed by 31-35 years old 44 (19.65%), 26-30 year old (13.27%), 〉 40 years old (13.10%), 21-25 years old 29 (12.66%), 16-20 years old 23 (12.04%) and 10-15 years old 20 (8.73%). Out of total 216 males, 179 (82.87%) were infected with soft and tissue infection while out of total 229 females, 206 (89.95%) were infected with soft and tissue infection. Overall prevalence of soft and tissue infection in patients of diabetic mellitus was 86.51%. The maximum respondent belonged to rural areas while minimum respondents from urban areas. 37.66% mild level of exercise was recorded in diabetic patients followed by 25.71% moderate level, and 19.74% heavy level of exercise recorded. Only 16.88% of patients recorded no level of exercise. Majority of respondents used oral medications (51.63%) followed by insulin (47.62%), do exercise (15.76%) and use nutritious food or fruits (9.59%). The study concluded that patients with poorly controlled and uncontrolled blood glucose levels were more likely to develop skin and soft tissue infections. In order to achieve favorable postoperative outcomes, it is essential to make fast and case-adapted therapeutic decisions, as well as to observe the patient's general condition and his wound on a daily basis.
