Abstract:
The influence of ultrasound on the dyeing behavior of PET fibers is investigated using a disperse dye. Ultrasound, when used with a dyebath, enhances the dye uptake and dyeing rate for C.I. Disperse Red 60, which has a highly crystalline structure. For C.I. Disperse Blue 56, which has a poor crystalline structure, however, there is no influence attributed to ultrasound on dye uptake and dyeing rate. The experimental results show that there is no variation in the value of T g for PET fibers with the dyeing method when ultrasound is used with the dyebath.
