    Abstract: In life as well as in engineering, many times, it is necessary to choose the best option among many different options. That will be more difficult when the criteria given for the selection contradict each other. For example, when external cylindrical grinding, the minimum surface roughness requirement necessitates a small depth of cut and feed rate. The material removal rate will be reduced in this case, and this requirement will conflict with the maximum material removal rate requirement. To solve the above problem, a very useful tool is multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM). In this paper, for the first time, MCDM results for powder mixed discharge machining (PMEDM) cylindrical parts of SKD11 tool steel with copper electrodes have been presented. In this work, eighteen experiments with the L18 (16×53) design using the Taguchi method were conducted. Six main input process parameters include the powder concentration, the pulse current, the servo voltage, the pulse on time, and the pulse off time. To select an alternative that simultaneously ensures two criteria including minimum surface roughness (RS) and maximum material removal speed (MRS), four different MCDM methods including MAIRCA (Multi-Attributive Ideal-Real Comparative Analysis), MARCOS (Measurement of Alternatives and Ranking according to Compromise Solution), TOPSIS (Technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution), and EAMR (Area-based Method of Ranking) and two methods of criteria weight calculation including MEREC (Method based on the Removal Effects of Criteria) and Entropy methods were selected. The results of MCDM when PMEDM SKD11 tool steel cylindrical parts with two methods for weight determination and four methods for solving MCDM problem were evaluated. In addition, the best alternative to ensure simultaneous minimum RS and maximum MRS was proposed.

    Abstract: Визначення найкращого режиму різання є поширеною задачею у процесах механічної обробки, а також шліфування кругами з КНБ (кубічного нітриду бору) на верстатах з числовим програмним управлінням (ЧПУ). Тим більше, коли необхідно вибрати рішення, що відповідає багатьом цілям, які суперечать одна одній. У статті представлені результати дослідження багатокритеріального прийняття рішень (БКПР) щодо шліфування кругами з КНБ деталей циліндричної форми на фрезерних верстатах з ЧПУ. У роботі застосовувалися три методи БКПР, включаючи TOPSIS (метод упорядкованої переваги через подібність до ідеального рішення), MAIRCA (мультиаттрибутний порівняльний аналіз реального та ідеального) і EAMR (оцінка методом зонального ранжування). Крім того, для визначення вагових коефіцієнтів критеріїв використовувалися методи MEREC (метод, заснований на ефектах видалення критеріїв) та Entropy (ентропії). Також для планування експерименту, що має чотири вхідних фактори, включаючи глибину різання, швидкість обертання шпинделя, швидкість подачі та діаметр круга був використаний метод Тагучі з ортогональною матрицею L18 (6^1+3^3). В якості відповідних даних були обрані два критерії, включаючи шорсткість поверхні (ШП) і швидкість знімання матеріалу (ШЗМ). Вибір даних критеріїв обумовлений тим, що ШП та ШЗМ є двома дуже важливими вихідними факторами у процесі механічної обробки, а також шліфування кругами з КНБ на верстаті з ЧПУ. Зокрема, ці два критерії завжди суперечать один одному. Малі вимоги до ШП вимагатимуть невеликих значень швидкості подачі та глибини різання, що призведе до скорочення ШЗМ. За результатами дослідження було оцінено застосування різних методів для БКПР. Крім того, були дані рейтинги альтернативних рішень відповідно до методів БКПР. Також було знайдено найкраще альтернативне рішення, що гарантує як мінімальну ШП, так і максимальну ШЗМ

    Abstract: This research presents an innovative methodology for accurately predicting spring-back tendencies in V-bending of SS400 steel sheets under elevated temperatures. The study leverages extensive tensile test data to determine parameters for pure isotropic and kinematic hardening laws at varying temperatures, crucial inputs for Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations. While using pure isotropic or kinematic hardening laws alone has limitations, especially at elevated temperatures, a hybrid approach is recommended for robust predictive models in ABAQUS 6.13 software. To address this challenge, a novel method is introduced, utilizing flow stress curve ratios between elevated and room temperatures as a function of equivalent strain to derive combined hardening law parameters. Rigorous comparison of simulation and experimental results confirms the model’s effectiveness in predicting spring-back in the V-bending of SS400 steel sheets, particularly under elevated temperatures. This innovative approach enhances understanding of material behavior at high temperatures and improves predictive capabilities for designing and optimizing complex V-bending processes.

    Abstract: Nghiên cứu này tính toán xi lanh thủy lực để tạo ra lực cắt cho máy cắt ống thép D45. Tổn thất hệ thống được tính toán để lựa chọn các thông số của bơm thủy lực nhằm nâng cao hiệu suất của động cơ dẫn động bơm. Phương pháp tính toán lý thuyết được áp dụng để xác định lực cắt, các thông số xylanh, tổn thất áp suất, tổn thất thể tích, công suất động cơ dẫn động bơm dầu và chọn bơm dầu cho hệ thống. Thực nghiệm thực hiện trên máy cắt ống thép D45 dùng để cắt các loại ống thép có đường kính 45 mm thành các loại biên dạng (khớp nối ống) sử dụng tại các hãng xe máy như Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, SYM... Kết quả thực nghiệm đã cho thấy nghiên cứu phù hợp với các yêu cầu chính của sản xuất như lực cắt thích hợp, biên dạng cắt chính xác, hành trình của lưỡi cắt phù hợp và mức tiêu hao điện năng thấp.

    Abstract: This paper introduces a novel approach to deal with the multi-objective optimization of a two-stage bevel helical gearbox by applying the Taguchi method and Grey Relation Analysis (GRA). The goal of the study is to find optimal main design factors that minimize the gearbox volume and maximize the gearbox efficiency. To accomplish this, five main design parameters were selected: the coefficients of wheel face width (CWFW) of the bevel and the helical gear sets, the allowable contact stresses (ACS) of the first and the second stages, and the gear ratio of the first stage. Furthermore, two single targets were investigated: minimum gearbox volumes, and maximum gearbox efficiency. Also, the multi-objective optimization problem is solved through two steps: Step 1 for closing the gap between variable levels and Step 2 for determining the optimal main design factors. The study’s findings were used to introduce the optimum values of five major design parameters for designing a two-stage helical gearbox.

    Abstract: Optimizing the design of a worm gearbox is complex to get due to considering multiple objectives and numerous main design parameters. Hence, a more consistent and robust optimization technique will be considered in obtaining the optimized results. This paper presents the optimization process of the Two-Stage Worm Gearbox with the objective function of minimizing total gearbox cost. Ten main design parameters are chosen as input parameters for evaluating their impacts on the response of the partial gear ratio u2. In this study, the simulation experiments were used, which do not need cost to perform all potential tests. In order to do this, a 2^(10-3) model and using 1/16 fractional model were selected due to the limitation of the built-in function in Minitab@18. Moreover, the screening experiments are purposely used to determine the number of parameters, which has a minor influence on the response. Compared to using the Taguchi technique, the model of 2^11 corresponding to L32 or 32 tests is a simple method to achieve the objectives. The results show that Total gearbox ratio exhibits the biggest effect on the response compared to others. Furthermore, the interactions between these factors to the remaining are significant. The high reliability of the proposed model is verified by simulation experiments. The random tendency of data shows that u2 is not crucially influenced by other than the input parameters. The data in versus order prove that the response is not varied to the time factor. Moreover, the coefficients of adjusted R2 and R2 are both greater than 99 %, it can be concluded that the proposed regression model is appropriate. The proposed optimization process in this study is reliable and the optimal design method can provide a useful reference on performance improvement of other worm gears.

    Abstract: The findings of a study on the application of the MCDM technique to select the best input parameters in wire-cut electrical discharge machining (wire-cut EDM) 90CrSi tool steel are presented in this paper. The TOPSIS method was used in the study to solve the MCDM problem, and the Entropy method was used to compute the weights of the criteria. In this work, six input parameters including the cutting voltage VM, the pulse on time ton, the pulse off time toff, the servo voltage SV, the wire feed WF, the feed speed SPD, and the workpiece cutting radius R were investigated. Also, a 27-2 design experiment was performed and a total of 32 experimental runs were conducted. The MCDM problem was solved. According to the findings of this study, the best experimental setup is experiment No. 7 with the following input parameters: VM=9 (V), Ton=12 (s), Toff=13 (s), SV=25 (V), WF=8 (mm/min), SPD=4.5 (mm/min), and R=9 (mm).

    Abstract: Multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) is a research area that entails analyzing various available options in a situation involving social sciences, medicine, engineering, and many other fields. This is due to the fact that it is used to select the best solution from a set of alternatives. The MCDM methods have been applied not only in economics, medicine, transportation, and the military, but also in mechanical processing processes to determine the best machining option. In this study, determining the best dressing mode for external grinding SKD11 tool steel using an MCDM method—the MABAC (multi-attributive border approximation area comparison) method—was introduced. The goal of this research is to find the best dressing mode for achieving the minimal surface roughness (RS), the maximum wheel life (T), and the minimal roundness (R) all at the same time. To perform this work, an experiment was carried out with six input parameters: the fine dressing depth, the fine dressing passes, the coarse dressing depth, the coarse dressing passes, the non-feeding dressing, and the dressing feed rate. In addition, the Taguchi method and an L16 orthogonal array were used to design the experiment. Furthermore, the MEREC (method based on the removal effects of criteria) and entropy methods were used to determine the weight of the criteria. The best dressing mode for external cylindrical grinding has been proposed based on the results. These findings were also confirmed by comparing them to the TOPSIS (technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution) and MARCOS (measurement of alternatives and ranking according to compromise solution) methods.
