Abstract:
Enteral nutrition with a metabolically adapted cancer‐specific enteral formula high in protein and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) may be advantageous in patients with head and neck or esophageal cancer, improving parameters of nutritional and functional status during chemoradiotherapy. These beneficial effects may be related to the provision of EPA and to the specific nutrient profile adapted to the tumor‐induced alterations in substrate metabolism by increasing the fat/carbohydrate ratio.
