    Abstract: The influenza virus continues to pose a great threat to public health due to the frequent variations in RNA viruses. Vaccines targeting conserved epitopes, such as the extracellular domain of the transmembrane protein M2 (M2e), a nucleoprotein, and the stem region of hemagglutinin proteins, have been developed, but more efficient strategies, such as nanoparticle-based vaccines, are still urgently needed. However, the labor-intensive in vitro purification of nanoparticles is still necessary, which could hinder the application of nanoparticles in the veterinary field in the future. To overcome this limitation, we used regulated lysis Salmonella as an oral vector with which to deliver three copies of M2e (3M2e-H1N1)-ferritin nanoparticles in situ and evaluated the immune response. Then, sequential immunization using Salmonella -delivered nanoparticles followed by an intranasal boost with purified nanoparticles was performed to further improve the efficiency. Compared with 3M2e monomer administration, Salmonella -delivered in situ nanoparticles significantly increased the cellular immune response. Additionally, the results of sequential immunization showed that the intranasal boost with purified nanoparticles dramatically stimulated the activation of lung CD11b dendritic cells (DCs) and elevated the levels of effector memory T (T EM ) cells in both spleen and lung tissues as well as those of CD4 and CD8 tissue-resident memory T (T RM ) cells in the lungs. The increased production of mucosal IgG and IgA antibody titers was also observed, resulting in further improvements to protection against a virus challenge, compared with the pure oral immunization group. Salmonella -delivered in situ nanoparticles efficiently increased the cellular immune response, compared with the monomer, and sequential immunization further improved the systemic immune response, as shown by the activation of DCs, the production of T EM cells and T RM cells, and the mucosal immune response, thereby providing us with a novel strategy by which to apply nanoparticle-based vaccines in the future. IMPORTANCE Salmonella -delivered in situ nanoparticle platforms may provide novel nanoparticle vaccines for oral administration, which would be beneficial for veterinary applications. The combination of administering Salmonella -vectored, self-assembled nanoparticles and an intranasal boost with purified nanoparticles significantly increased the production of effector memory T cells and lung resident memory T cells, thereby providing partial protection against an influenza virus challenge. This novel strategy could open a novel avenue for the application of nanoparticle vaccines for veterinary purposes.

    Abstract: Document recommendation systems for locating relevant literature have mostly relied on methods developed a decade ago. This is largely due to the lack of a large offline gold-standard benchmark of relevant documents that cover a variety of research fields such that newly developed literature search techniques can be compared, improved and translated into practice. To overcome this bottleneck, we have established the RElevant LIterature SearcH consortium consisting of more than 1500 scientists from 84 countries, who have collectively annotated the relevance of over 180 000 PubMed-listed articles with regard to their respective seed (input) article/s. The majority of annotations were contributed by highly experienced, original authors of the seed articles. The collected data cover 76% of all unique PubMed Medical Subject Headings descriptors. No systematic biases were observed across different experience levels, research fields or time spent on annotations. More importantly, annotations of the same document pairs contributed by different scientists were highly concordant. We further show that the three representative baseline methods used to generate recommended articles for evaluation (Okapi Best Matching 25, Term Frequency–Inverse Document Frequency and PubMed Related Articles) had similar overall performances. Additionally, we found that these methods each tend to produce distinct collections of recommended articles, suggesting that a hybrid method may be required to completely capture all relevant articles. The established database server located at https://relishdb.ict.griffith.edu.au is freely available for the downloading of annotation data and the blind testing of new methods. We expect that this benchmark will be useful for stimulating the development of new powerful techniques for title and title/abstract-based search engines for relevant articles in biomedical research.

    Abstract: Chronic total occlusion (CTO) of the coronary artery is a difficult problem in clinical practice. The triglyceride – glucose (TyG) index is an effective risk predictor of cardiovascular risk. However, the relationship between the TyG index and the prognosis of CTO patients remains unstudied. Thus, the present study aimed to investigate the relationship between the TyG index and cardiovascular risk in CTO patients. Methods This was a single-centre, retrospective cohort study. We retrospectively enrolled 652 patients with CTO lesions diagnosed by angiography and who underwent revascularization through PCI. Patients were routinely followed up for 24 months unless meeting the endpoint. The primary endpoint was the composite of all-cause death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, unplanned revascularization, and nonfatal ischaemic stroke. To test the association of the TyG index with cardiovascular risk, the categorized TyG index and Cox proportional hazards regression models were utilized. Results A total of 652 patients were enrolled in the final analysis (male: 83.7%, age: 58.2 ± 10.49 years). The average TyG index was 8.8 ± 0.57. CTO PCIs were procedurally successfully completed in 503 (77.15%) patients. During the follow-up period of 22.8 ± 3.84 months, 73 (11.19%) major adverse cardiovascular and cerebral events (MACCEs) occurred. When fully adjusted, there was a 2.09-fold risk for MACCEs among patients with the highest TyG index compared with those with the lowest TyG index [T2 vs. T1: hazard ratio (HR) 1.24, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.65–2.38, P  = 0.057; T3 vs. T1: HR 2.09, 95% CI 1.14–3.86, P  = 0.018; P for trend = 0.036]. The restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis showed that the HR for MACCEs increased as the TyG index increased over 8.71 [HR per standard deviation (SD) 1.740, 95% CI 1.23–2.46, P  = 0.002]. The risk of MACCEs increased with increasing tertiles of TyG index in successful CTO PCI patients and nondiabetes mellitus (DM) patients ( P   〈  0.05) but not in patients with failed CTO PCI and DM patients. Conclusion The study revealed that the TyG index had significant relevance to cardiovascular risk in CTO patients and suggests that the TyG index is feasible for predicting cardiovascular risk in CTO patients.

    Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to effectively and accurately identify weed species in crop fields in complex environments. There are many kinds of weeds in the detection area, which are densely distributed. Methods The paper proposes the use of local variance pre-processing method for background segmentation and data enhancement, which effectively removes the complex background and redundant information from the data, and prevents the experiment from overfitting, which can improve the accuracy rate significantly. Then, based on the optimization improvement of DenseNet network, Efficient Channel Attention (ECA) mechanism is introduced after the convolutional layer to increase the weight of important features, strengthen the weed features and suppress the background features. Results Using the processed images to train the model, the accuracy rate reaches 97.98%, which is a great improvement, and the comprehensive performance is higher than that of DenseNet, VGGNet-16, VGGNet-19, ResNet-50, DANet, DNANet, and U-Net models. Discussion The experimental data show that the model and method we designed are well suited to solve the problem of accurate identification of crop and weed species in complex environments, laying a solid technical foundation for the development of intelligent weeding robots.

    Abstract: Rapid urbanization has provided a strong impetus for the economic growth of China, but it has also caused many problems such as inefficient urban land use and environmental pollution. With the popularization of the concept of green and sustainable development, the Environmental-Social-Governance (ESG) assessment concept is widely accepted. The government and residents are paying more and more attention to environmental issues in urban development, and environmental protection has formed an important part of urban development. In this context, this study takes 26 cities in the Yangtze River Delta as examples to build an evaluation system for urban land-use efficiency under green development orientation. The evaluation system takes into account the inputs of land, capital, labor, and energy factors in the process of urban development. Based on emphasizing economic output, the social benefits and undesired outputs brought about by urban development are taken into account. This paper measures urban land use efficiency by the super-efficiency SBM model, and on this basis, analyses the spatial-temporal evolution characteristics of urban land-use efficiency. Further, this paper measures urban land use efficiency without considering undesired outputs and compares the two evaluation methods. Again, the comparison illustrates the rationality of urban land use efficiency evaluation system under green development orientation.

    Abstract: Probing the solar corona is crucial to study the coronal heating and solar wind acceleration. However, the transient and inhomogeneous solar wind flows carry large-amplitude inherent Alfvén waves and turbulence, which make detection more difficult. We report the oscillation and propagation of the solar wind at 2.6 solar radii (Rs) by observation of China’s Tianwen and ESA’s Mars Express with radio telescopes. The observations were carried out on 2021 October 9, when one coronal mass ejection (CME) passed across the ray paths of the telescope beams. We obtain the frequency fluctuations (FFs) of the spacecraft signals from each individual telescope. First, we visually identify the drift of the frequency spikes at a high spatial resolution of thousands of kilometers along the projected baselines. They are used as traces to estimate the solar wind velocity. Then we perform the cross-correlation analysis on the time series of FF from different telescopes. The velocity variations of solar wind structure along radial and tangential directions during the CME passage are obtained. The oscillation of tangential velocity confirms the detection of a streamer wave. Moreover, at the tail of the CME, we detect the propagation of an accelerating fast field-aligned density structure indicating the presence of magnetohydrodynamic waves. This study confirms that the ground-station pairs are able to form particular spatial projection baselines with high resolution and sensitivity to study the detailed propagation of the nascent dynamic solar wind structure.
