Abstract: 〈 p 〉 In recent years, multichannel audio systems are widely used in modern sound devices as it can provide more realistic and engaging experience to the listener. This paper focuses on the performance evaluation of three lossy, i.e. AAC, Ogg Vorbis, and Opus, and three lossless compression, i.e. FLAC, TrueAudio, and WavPack, for multichannel audio signals, including stereo, 5.1 and 7.1 channels. Experiments were conducted on the same three audio files but with different channel configurations. The performance of each encoder was evaluated based on its encoding time (averaged over 100 times), data reduction, and audio quality. Usually, there is always a trade-off between the three metrics. To simplify the evaluation, a new integrated performance metric was proposed that combines all the three performance metrics. Using the new measure, FLAC was found to be the best lossless compression, while Ogg Vorbis and Opus were found to be the best for lossy compression depends on the channel configuration. This result could be used in determining the proper audio format for multichannel audio systems. 〈 /p 〉

Abstract: Due to the advanced in GPU and CPU, in recent years, Deep Neural Network (DNN) becomes popular to be utilized both as feature extraction and classifier. This paper aims to develop offline handwritten recognition system using DNN. First, two popular English digits and letters database, i.e. MNIST and EMNIST, were selected to provide dataset for training and testing phase of DNN. Altogether, there are 10 digits [0-9] and 52 letters [a-z, A-Z] . The proposed DNN used stacked two autoencoder layers and one softmax layer. Recognition accuracy for English digits and letters is 97.7% and 88.8%, respectively. Performance comparison with other structure of neural networks revealed that the weighted average recognition rate for patternnet, feedforwardnet, and proposed DNN were 80.3%, 68.3%, and 90.4%, respectively. It shows that our proposed system is able to recognize handwritten English digits and letters with high accuracy.

Abstract: 〈 p 〉 〈 em 〉 In communication medium to satisfy the speech enhancement process by using differents methodologies and algoirthms are the key term in testing the system design well enough to produce the best performance results for the speech system. The Wiener filter is one of the classical algorithm that applied to speech process to avoid the noise attacking the speech signal. In other word, compressive sensing method by randomize measurement matrix are combined with the Wiener filter to analyse the noisy speech signal with less introduce to noise signal and producing high signal to noise ratio. The PESQ is used to measure the quality of the proposed algorithm design. As in the experimental results shows that, attacking of defferent noise environments in speech signal still effectively improve the performance of noisy speech with maintain the high score of the PESQ quality.  〈 /em 〉 〈 em 〉 〈 /em 〉 〈 /p 〉

Abstract: One of the WHO’s strategies to reduce road traffic injuries and fatalities is to enhance vehicle safety. Driving fatigue detection can be used to increase vehicle safety. Our previous study developed an ECG-based driving fatigue detection framework with AdaBoost, producing a high cross-validated accuracy of 98.82% and a testing accuracy of 81.82%; however, the study did not consider the driver’s cognitive state related to fatigue and redundant features in the classification model. In this paper, we propose developments in the feature extraction and feature selection phases in the driving fatigue detection framework. For feature extraction, we employ heart rate fragmentation to extract non-linear features to analyze the driver’s cognitive status. These features are combined with features obtained from heart rate variability analysis in the time, frequency, and non-linear domains. In feature selection, we employ mutual information to filter redundant features. To find the number of selected features with the best model performance, we carried out 28 combination experiments consisting of 7 possible selected features out of 58 features and 4 ensemble learnings. The results of the experiments show that the random forest algorithm with 44 selected features produced the best model performance testing accuracy of 95.45%, with cross-validated accuracy of 98.65%.

Abstract: Recent advances in control, communication, and management systems, as well as the widespread use of renewable energy sources in homes, have led to the evolution of traditional power grids into smart grids, where passive consumers have become so-called prosumers that feed energy into the grid. On the other hand, the integration of blockchain into the smart grid has enabled the emergence of decentralized peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading, where prosumers trade their energy as tokenized assets. Even though this new paradigm benefits both distribution grid operators and end users in many ways. Nevertheless, there is a conflict of interest between the two parties, as on the one hand, prosumers want to maximize their profit, while on the other hand, distribution system operators (DSOs) seek an optimal power flow (OPF) operating point. Due to the complexity of formulating and solving OPF problems in the presence of renewable energy sources, researchers have focused on mathematical modeling and effective solution algorithms for such optimization problems. However, the control of power generation according to a defined OPF solution is still based on centralized control and management units owned by the DSO. In this paper, we propose a novel, fully decentralized architecture for an OPF-based demand response management system that uses smart contracts to force generators to comply without the need for a central authority or hardware.

Abstract: Nowadays, there are many beautiful recitation of Al-Quran available. Quranic recitation has its own characteristics, and the problem to identify the reciter is similar to the speaker recognition/identification problem. The objective of this paper is to develop Quran reciter identification system using Mel-frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) and Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM). In this paper, a database of five Quranic reciters is developed and used in training and testing phases. We carefully randomized the database from various surah in the Quran so that the proposed system will not prone to the recited verses but only to the reciter. Around 15 Quranic audio samples from 5 reciters were collected and randomized, in which 10 samples were used for training the GMM and 5 samples were used for testing. Results showed that our proposed system has 100% recognition rate for the five reciters tested. Even when tested with unknown samples, the proposed system is able to reject it.

Abstract: Scalable Video Coding (SVC) is the extension of the H.264/AVC standard. The SVC has good capability in video transmission systems because of its scalability which can adapt in different network conditions, especially in low bit rate transmission. The objective of this paper is to develop the low bit rate video coding for assisting the remote operation of Command and Control (CNC) milling process through virtual simulation and remote desktop interface. The algorithm for low bit rate video coding will be in the downsampling of high resolution layer before the encoding process and upsampling the high layer data in the decoder. Based on simulation results, the proposed scheme shows good performance in maintaining the video quality at 128 kbps while providing high time savings for the encoding process.
