Abstract: The Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) determines a regulatory set of instructions for fisheries agreements. These rules control fishing activity in Brazilian basins during closed fishing seasons. However, many fishermen violate the agreements, as seen in the river basin Uba, in the municipality of Moju-Pará. When fishermen breach IBAMA’s stated regulations, the municipality is urged to act on the case, but with little knowledge of critical areas which suffer from overfishing. This makes the logistics of solving these issues difficult and often problematic. This work strives to serve as an aid to environmental agencies in their endeavor to inspect and regulate the issue of overfishing in critical areas, such as the Úba river basin in the municipality of Moju-Para. Our methods include a literature review of research concerning the issue, identifying critical points, as well as preparing maps and proposals for the site of environmental monitoring activities in the city. From within the critical points, we identified the hot spots. We observed five distinct vegetation types located roughly 10 kilometers along the river, and the corresponding agricultural anthropic areas to 49% of the entire study area’s territory. It is noted that the areas of greatest concentrations of overfished territories are lined with countryside, forest and dense vegetation. Thus, environmental inspections should take place in areas near the communities and the Úba river and especially in the area beyond the Levi resort, where the hot spot was identified, while always considering the logistics for hard to reach areas.

Abstract: Emerging deep learning-based applications in precision medicine include computational histopathological analysis. However, there is a lack of the required training image datasets to generate classification and detection models. This phenomenon occurs mainly due to human factors that make it difficult to obtain well-annotated data. The present study provides a curated public collection of histopathological images (DeepHP) and a convolutional neural network model for diagnosing gastritis. Images from gastric biopsy histopathological exams were used to investigate the performance of the proposed model in detecting gastric mucosa with Helicobacter pylori infection. The DeepHP database comprises 394,926 histopathological images, of which 111 K were labeled as Helicobacter pylori positive and 283 K were Helicobacter pylori negative. We investigated the classification performance of three Convolutional Neural Network architectures. The models were tested and validated with two distinct image sets of 15% (59K patches) chosen randomly. The VGG16 architecture showed the best results with an Area Under the Curve of 0.998%. The results showed that CNN could be used to classify histopathological images from gastric mucosa with marked precision. Our model evidenced high potential and application in the computational pathology field.

Abstract: In recent years, deep learning has gained remarkable attention in medical image analysis due to its capacity to provide results comparable to specialists and, in some cases, surpass them. Despite the emergence of deep learning research on gastric tissues diseases, few intensive reviews are addressing this topic. Method We performed a systematic review related to applications of deep learning in gastric tissue disease analysis by digital histology, endoscopy and radiology images. Conclusions This review highlighted the high potential and shortcomings in deep learning research studies applied to gastric cancer, ulcer, gastritis and non-malignant diseases. Our results demonstrate the effectiveness of gastric tissue analysis by deep learning applications. Moreover, we also identified gaps of evaluation metrics, and image collection availability, therefore, impacting experimental reproducibility.

Abstract: The shortage of reliable primary taxonomic data limits the description of biological taxa and the understanding of biodiversity patterns and processes, complicating biogeographical, ecological, and evolutionary studies. This deficit creates a significant taxonomic impediment to biodiversity research and conservation planning. The taxonomic impediment and the biodiversity crisis are widely recognized, highlighting the urgent need for reliable taxonomic data. Over the past decade, numerous countries worldwide have devoted considerable effort to Target 1 of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC), which called for the preparation of a working list of all known plant species by 2010 and an online world Flora by 2020. Brazil is a megadiverse country, home to more of the world's known plant species than any other country. Despite that, Flora Brasiliensis , concluded in 1906, was the last comprehensive treatment of the Brazilian flora. The lack of accurate estimates of the number of species of algae, fungi, and plants occurring in Brazil contributes to the prevailing taxonomic impediment and delays progress towards the GSPC targets. Over the past 12 years, a legion of taxonomists motivated to meet Target 1 of the GSPC, worked together to gather and integrate knowledge on the algal, plant, and fungal diversity of Brazil. Overall, a team of about 980 taxonomists joined efforts in a highly collaborative project that used cybertaxonomy to prepare an updated Flora of Brazil, showing the power of scientific collaboration to reach ambitious goals. This paper presents an overview of the Brazilian Flora 2020 and provides taxonomic and spatial updates on the algae, fungi, and plants found in one of the world's most biodiverse countries. We further identify collection gaps and summarize future goals that extend beyond 2020. Our results show that Brazil is home to 46,975 native species of algae, fungi, and plants, of which 19,669 are endemic to the country. The data compiled to date suggests that the Atlantic Rainforest might be the most diverse Brazilian domain for all plant groups except gymnosperms, which are most diverse in the Amazon. However, scientific knowledge of Brazilian diversity is still unequally distributed, with the Atlantic Rainforest and the Cerrado being the most intensively sampled and studied biomes in the country. In times of “scientific reductionism”, with botanical and mycological sciences suffering pervasive depreciation in recent decades, the first online Flora of Brazil 2020 significantly enhanced the quality and quantity of taxonomic data available for algae, fungi, and plants from Brazil. This project also made all the information freely available online, providing a firm foundation for future research and for the management, conservation, and sustainable use of the Brazilian funga and flora.

Abstract: Congenital malformations are structural or functional abnormalities present at birth, caused by genetic, environmental or both factors, with cleft lip and palate being more frequent. A puppy, canine, male, english bulldog, weighing 1 kg, was attended to at a veterinary hospital in the municipality of Ji-Paraná/RO. On physical examination, it was found that he had unilateral cleft lip and palate, opting for the palatoplasty procedure with the bipedicled sliding flap technique and cheiloplasty, as a treatment for palatoschisis and unilateral cheiloschisis. Showing that the cheiloplasty technique was efficient for cleft lip correction and the palatoplasty procedure was unsuccessful due to suture dehiscence.

Abstract: The Bioremediation consists of applying microorganisms to reduce, eliminate or transform organic or inorganic polluting compounds into inert substances. Solid and liquid wastes are generated daily in industrial activities and, among the food processing industries, the dairy sector presents a large number of liquid effluents due to its extensive use of water in various activities and sectors. For an efficient treatment of effluents, it is essential to understand the microbiota of the wastewater, its biochemical characteristics and metabolic activity, as well as the origin of the polluting compounds. The growing demand for products derived from livestock and agricultural activity drives the search for environmental technologies capable of providing sustainable development. In this scenario, biotechnological studies and bioremediation applications are increasingly gaining ground both for environmental control and for application in value-added products. The purpose of this review is to present and discuss the most recent and used technologies for bioremediation of effluents from dairy industries using bacteria.
