Abstract: Concomitant neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) are associated with accelerated Alzheimer's disease (AD) progression. Identifying multimodal brain imaging patterns associated with NPS may help understand pathophysiology correlates AD. Based on the AD continuum, a supervised learning strategy was used to guide four‐way multimodal neuroimaging fusion (Amyloid, Tau, gray matter volume, brain function) by using NPS total score as the reference. Loadings of the identified multimodal patterns were compared across the AD continuum. Then, regression analyses were performed to investigate its predictability of longitudinal cognition performance. Furthermore, the fusion analysis was repeated in the four NPS subsyndromes. Here, an NPS‐associated pathological–structural–functional covaried pattern was observed in the frontal‐subcortical limbic circuit, occipital, and sensor‐motor region. Loading of this multimodal pattern showed a progressive increase with the development of AD. The pattern significantly correlates with multiple cognitive domains and could also predict longitudinal cognitive decline. Notably, repeated fusion analysis using subsyndromes as references identified similar patterns with some unique variations associated with different syndromes. Conclusively, NPS was associated with a multimodal imaging pattern involving complex neuropathologies, which could effectively predict longitudinal cognitive decline. These results highlight the possible neural substrate of NPS in AD, which may provide guidance for clinical management.

Abstract: To investigate the association between susceptibility to colorectal cancer (CRC) and a 4-bp insertion/deletion polymorphism (rs10680577) in the proximal promoter of the EGLN2 gene. Method The first step in genotyping EGLN2 was PCR, then the PCR products were separated using 7% nondenaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and visualized by silver staining according to the final product band location and quantity to determine the genotype of the sample. The final count was done by two different pathologists. Result In the codominant model, compared with the ins/ins genotype, subjects with the heterozygous ins/del or homozygous del/del genotype had a significantly increased risk of CRC (adjusted OR = 1.45, p 〈 0.0001 and OR = 2.44, p = 0.0001, respectively). Each additional copy of the 4-bp deletion allele conferred a significantly increased risk of CRC (OR = 1.47, 95% CI 1.28-1.66, p 〈 0.0001). In the stratification analysis, we further proved that the association was more prominent in TNM stage III and IV cancer compared with stage I and II (adjusted OR = 1.43, 95% CI 1.07-1.93, p for heterogeneity = 0.02). Conclusions Our study provided initial evidence that the insertion/deletion polymorphism rs10680577 may play a functional role in the development of CRC in the Chinese population.

Abstract: Two-dimensional (2D) materials have been utilized for the photoelectrochemical (PEC) production of hydrogen by water splitting, however the reaction performance of which is limited by thermodynamic protons adsorptions, the specific materials solar absorption spectrum, materials carrier mobility and lifetime. Here, we report a facile solution processed method for the synthesis of 2D In 2 Se x S 3− x alloy films, in which the obvious crystalline to amorphous transition was observed as the annealing temperature decreased from 400 °C to 80 °C. Different porous nanostructures of the films have been created by the temperature controls, showing over 200% absorption in the near-infrared range for the sample that annealed at 400 °C than the other samples. The transient absorption measurements of crystalline samples are clearly shown the carrier lifetime is dramatically improved than the amorphous samples, which are critical to the hydrogen evolution performance. Finally, the PEC water splitting performances have been measured to discuss the structure-properties relations, showing the overpotentials reduction of over 100 mV for enhanced near-infrared absorption samples. This work clearly gives out the optical structure and crystal structure design strategy for improving the PEC performance.

Abstract: The main goal of this study was to use the synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) to expand the quantity of landslide samples for machine learning methods (i.e., support vector machine (SVM), logistic regression (LR), artificial neural network (ANN), and random forest (RF)) to produce high-quality landslide susceptibility maps for Lishui City in Zhejiang Province, China. Landslide-related factors were extracted from topographic maps, geological maps, and satellite images. Twelve factors were selected as independent variables using correlation coefficient analysis and the neighborhood rough set (NRS) method. In total, 288 soil landslides were mapped using field surveys, historical records, and satellite images. The landslides were randomly divided into two datasets: 70% of all landslides were selected as the original training dataset and 30% were used for validation. Then, SMOTE was employed to generate datasets with sizes ranging from two to thirty times that of the training dataset to establish and compare the four machine learning methods for landslide susceptibility mapping. In addition, we used slope units to subdivide the terrain to determine the landslide susceptibility. Finally, the landslide susceptibility maps were validated using statistical indexes and the area under the curve (AUC). The results indicated that the performances of the four machine learning methods showed different levels of improvement as the sample sizes increased. The RF model exhibited a more substantial improvement (AUC improved by 24.12%) than did the ANN (18.94%), SVM (17.77%), and LR (3.00%) models. Furthermore, the ANN model achieved the highest predictive ability (AUC = 0.98), followed by the RF (AUC = 0.96), SVM (AUC = 0.94), and LR (AUC = 0.79) models. This approach significantly improves the performance of machine learning techniques for landslide susceptibility mapping, thereby providing a better tool for reducing the impacts of landslide disasters.

Abstract: Purpose: In this study, we attempted to reduce the negative economic externalities related to Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions in the Yangtze River Delta region (YRD) and designed a cross-municipality responsibility-sharing mechanism. Methods: We estimated the municipal CO2 footprints in the YRD from 2000 to 2019 based on nighttime light data and measured CO2 emissions efficiency using a super slack-based measurement (super-SBM) model. Based on this, we designed a scenario of horizontal CO2 compensation among the YRD’s municipalities from the perspectives of both CO2 footprints and CO2 trading (CO2 unit prices in trading were determined based on CO2 emissions efficiency). Results: The results showed the following: (1) The CO2 footprints evolution of the YRD municipalities could be divided into four categories, among which, eleven municipalities showed a decreasing trend. Thirteen municipalities stabilized their CO2 footprints. Thirteen municipalities exhibited strong growth in their CO2 footprints, whereas four municipalities maintained a low level of slow growth. (2) Spatially, CO2 emissions efficiency evolved from a broad distribution of low values to a mosaic distribution of multi-type zones. (3) After 2011, the ratio of CO2 footprint compensation amounts to local Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in most municipalities was less than 0.01%, with its center of gravity shifting cyclically. It was appropriate to start charging the CO2 footprint compensation amounts after 2011, with a dynamic adjustment of 3 years. (4) After 2007, the supply–demand relationship of CO2 trading continued to deteriorate, and it eased in 2016. However, its operational mechanism was still very fragile and highly dependent on a few pioneering municipalities. Innovations: In this study, we designed a horizontal CO2 compensation mechanism from the binary perspective of CO2 footprints and CO2 trading. In this mechanism, the former determines the CO2 footprint compensation amounts paid by each municipality based on whether the CO2 footprint exceeds its CO2 allowance. The latter determines the CO2 trading compensation amounts paid by the purchasing municipalities based on their CO2 emissions efficiency. This system balances equity and efficiency and provides new ideas for horizontal CO2 compensation.

Abstract: The purpose of the “Made in China 2025” strategy is to enhance the innovation capabilities of the local manufacturing industry and achieve green and sustainable development. The role of innovation in the development of manufacturing is a hotspot in academic research, though only a few studies have analyzed the interaction between green technology manufacturing efficiency and its external innovation capabilities. This study used the 2011–2017 Chinese A-share listed manufacturing companies as samples to discuss whether regional innovation capabilities can promote the improvement of green technology manufacturing efficiency. The results showed that a significant spatial correlation between regional innovation capability and green technology manufacturing efficiency was prevalent within spatial heterogeneous bounds. In addition, regional innovation capability directly promoted the effective manufacturing of green technology efficiency, which was strongest in the eastern region of the country. Regional innovation capabilities also had a positive effect on human capital and government revenue, thereby further enhancing the green technology efficiency of manufacturing through the intermediary effect. Based on the above conclusions, some policy recommendations are put forward to facilitate the improvement of China’s regional innovation capabilities in terms of green technology efficiency in manufacturing.
