Abstract: This study aimed to describe the morphoanatomical characters of fruits, seeds and seedlings, in addition to characterizing the anatomy of leaves and trunk of the species Protium altsonii Sandwith. The fruits, leaves and wood were collected in the Sustainable Development Reserve in the Iratapuru River (SDR), Amapá. Cross and longitudinal sections were cut with a rotary microtome. As for the characteristics, it was observed that the fruits are globose to ovoid, with a slightly sharp apex and short stipitate, and they also present one and, more rarely, two pyrenes per fruit. The mature seed of P. altsonii, in cross section in the abaxial region, is formed by the seed-coat with collapsed cells and fleshy cotyledonary parenchyma, containing secretory cavities and oil. In understory, the leaves of young plants with two years and six months are compound, imparipinnate and can present 6 to 11 pairs of leaflets. In their turn, the adult leaves are compound, imparipinnate and may present six or more pairs of leaflets per branch. In a cross-section of the wood, there are numerous solitary and multiple vessels; small to medium; vascular elements with a simple perforation plate. The morphological characteristics of the fruit, seed and leaves, in addition to the anatomy of the species under study allow us to assure that Protium altsonii presents phenotypic plasticity as an ecological strategy. The germinative efficiency in field of these species may have been caused by the release of the coumarin present in the cotyledons.

Abstract: Protium Burm.f. stands out for its diversity of species in the Amazon. Therefore, the objective the present work was to describe the morphological characters of fruits, seeds and seedlings, as well as to provide information on the germination of P. tenuifolium (Engl.) Engl. until its initial seedling growth. The fruits of the species highlighted were collected from January to April in the area of the Manoel Preto/Anani Hill complex, in the Sustainable Development Reserve in the Iratapuru river (SDR), in the municipality of Laranjal do Jari, Amapá. These fruits are ellipsoid with a rounded base, with an average size of 1.5 - 2.8 x 0.8 - 2.2 x 0.7 - 2.2 cm, with a slightly acute apex and short stipule, as well as their weight ranges from 0.6 to 5.1 g. They can present one, two or three pyrenes per fruit. The pyrene is green to dark green, with an ovoid shape, narrowing at one of the poles, with 1.1 - 1.8 x 0.8 - 1.2 x 0.7 - 1.2 cm, weight 0.1 to 0.6 g and bone consistency. It presents, in the region of funicular connection, a white spot which consistency and texture are different from the rest of the pyrene. The germination is of the epigeal type, cryptocotyledonar, with an axis between the cotyledons, which has a permanent reserve adhered to the seedling. P. tenuifolium reaches the seedling stage about 30 days after sowing. It has an axial root system; a yellowish to brown cylindrical primary root and thin, yellowish, cylindrical secondary roots irregularly distributed along the primary root. The epicotyl axis is cylindrical, erect, short in relation to the hypocotyl, ca 2 mm long, sub-woody, dark green, pubescent. The next leaves are composed, unifoliated, alternating and they have some similar characteristics to those described for the first leaves, except the petiole and the size, since they are larger, with 7 to 10 cm. From these characteristics, the individual of P. tenuifolium is already considered a young plant.

Abstract: This study was part of the Manipulation of Moisture and Nutrient Availability in Young Regrowth Forests in Eastern Amazonia Project (MANFLORA). The experiment was designed in completely randomized blocks containing control and irrigated treatments during the dry period (5 mm of water/day), with four repetitions each. The monthly mean litter values ranged from 316.10 to 997.90 kg ha-1 month-1. The magnitude of this phenomenon can be explained by the functional role of the floristic structure, represented by the species Myrcia sylvatica (G. mey) DC., Myrcia bracteata (Rich) DC., Miconia ciliata (Rich) DC., Lacistema pubescens Mart., Lacistema aggregatum (Berg.) Rusby, Vismia guianensis (Aubl.) Choisy, Cupania scrobiculata Rich. and Ocotea guianensis Aubl., which constituted the determinant factors, associated with the hydroperiodic effect and ecosystem manipulation. The monthly mean of the analytical results of mass treatments were significant (P & lt; 0.05), however, when compared annually there was no significance, which indicates seasonal influence, since the period of greatest deposition is the dry one, regardless of the water manipulation along the period studied. Only in time the mass values of Ca and Mg were not significant for treatment (P & lt; 0.05). The amount of Ca was significantly (P & lt; 0.05) higher than that of Mg.
