Abstract: Mở đầu: Polyp đại trực tràng có liên hệ mật thiết với ung thư đại trực tràng.

Abstract: α-Thalassemia is a common inherited blood disorder manifested mainly by the deletions of α-globin genes. In geographical areas with high carrier frequencies, screening of α-thalassemia carrier state is therefore of vital importance. This study presents a novel method for identifying female carriers of common α-thalassemia deletions using samples routinely taken for non-invasive prenatal tests for screening of fetal chromosomal aneuploidies. A total of 68,885 Vietnamese pregnant women were recruited and α-thalassemia statuses were determined by gap-PCR, revealing 5344 women (7.76%) carried deletions including αα/−− SEA (4.066%), αα/−α 3.7 (2.934%), αα/−α 4.2 (0.656%), and rare genotypes (0.102%). A two-stage model was built to predict these α-thalassemia deletions from targeted sequencing of the HBA gene cluster on maternal cfDNA. Our method achieved F1-scores of 97.14–99.55% for detecting the three common genotypes and 94.74% for detecting rare genotypes (−α 3.7 /−α 4.2 , αα/−− THAI , −α 3.7 /−− SEA , −α 4.2 /−− SEA ). Additionally, the positive predictive values were 100.00% for αα/αα, 99.29% for αα/−− SEA , 94.87% for αα/−α 3.7 , and 96.51% for αα/−α 4.2 ; and the negative predictive values were 97.63%, 99.99%, 99.99%, and 100.00%, respectively. As NIPT is increasingly adopted for pregnant women, utilizing cfDNA from NIPT to detect maternal carriers of common α-thalassemia deletions will be cost-effective and expand the benefits of NIPT.

Abstract: Background/Aims: Accurate neoplastic prediction can significantly decrease costs associated with pathology and unnecessary colorectal polypectomies. Narrow band imaging (NBI) and dual-focus (DF) mode are promising emerging optical technologies for recognizing neoplastic features of colorectal polyps digitally. This study aimed to clarify the clinical usefulness of NBI with and without DF assistance in the neoplastic prediction of small colorectal polyps ( 〈 10 mm). Methods: This cross-sectional study included 530 small colorectal polyps from 343 consecutive patients who underwent colonoscopy at the University Medical Center from September 2020 to May 2021. Each polyp was endoscopically diagnosed in three successive steps using white-light endoscopy (WLE), NBI, and NBI-DF and retrieved for histopathological assessment. The diagnostic accuracy of each modality was evaluated with reference to histopathology. Results: There were 295 neoplastic polyps and 235 non-neoplastic polyps. The overall accuracies of WLE, WLE+NBI, and WLE+NBI+NBI-DF in the neoplastic prediction of colorectal polyps were 70.8%, 87.4%, and 90.8%, respectively (p 〈 0.001). The accuracy of WLE+NBI+NBI-DF was significantly higher than that of WLE+NBI in the polyp size ≤5 mm subgroup (87.3% vs. 90.1%, p 〈 0.001).Conclusions: NBI improved the real-time neoplastic prediction of small colorectal polyps. The DF mode was especially useful in polyps ≤5 mm in size.

Abstract: To assess (1) the overlap rate of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and functional dyspepsia (FD) and (2) the yield of esophagogastroduodenoscopy in patients clinically presenting with FD. Materials and Methods Outpatients aged ≥18 years with typical reflux symptoms ≥2 times a week or clinically fulfilling the Rome IV criteria for FD were recruited and underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy. GERD was classified into non-erosive reflux disease (NERD) and erosive reflux disease (ERD), and FD was classified into epigastric pain syndrome and postprandial distress syndrome. The endoscopic findings that could explain patients’ symptoms were considered clinically significant endoscopic findings. After esophagogastroduodenoscopy, patients were categorized into three groups: GERD-only, FD-only, and GERD-FD overlap. Results There were 439 patients with a mean age of 42.3 ± 11.6 years. Ninety-one (20.7%) patients had clinically significant endoscopic findings: 73 (16.6%) reflux esophagitis, 6 (1.4%) Barrett’s esophagus and 14 (3.2%) gastroduodenal ulcers. After excluding gastroduodenal ulcers, the numbers of patients with GERD-only, FD-only, and GERD-FD overlap were 69 (16.2%), 138 (32.5%), and 218 (51.3%), respectively. Postprandial distress syndrome was more prevalent in GERD-FD overlap than in FD-only (72.9 vs. 44.2%, p & lt; 0.001). The rates of gastroduodenal ulcers in patients clinically fulfilling the criteria for FD with and without reflux symptoms were 0.6 and 4.7%, respectively ( p = 0.027). Conclusion The GERD-FD overlap was more common than each disorder alone, of which postprandial distress syndrome was significantly prominent. Organic dyspepsia was uncommon in patients clinically fulfilling the Rome IV criteria for FD.

Abstract: Zinc oxide (ZnO) has been widely deployed as electron conducting layer in emerging photovoltaics including quantum dot, perovskite and organic solar cells. Reducing the curing temperature of ZnO layer to below 200 oC is an essential requirement to reduce the cell fabrication cost enabled by large-scale processes such as ink-jet printing, spin coating or roll-roll printing. Herein, we present a novel water-based ZnO precursor stabilized with labile NH3, which allow us to spin coat crystalline ZnO thin films with temperatures below 200 oC. Thin film transistors (TFTs) and diode-type quantum dot solar cells (QD SCs) were fabricated using ZnO as electron conduction layer.  In the QD SCs, a p-type 1,2-ethylenedithiol treated PbS QDs with a bandgap of 1.4 eV was spin-coated on top of ZnO layer by a layer-by-layer solid state ligand exchange process. Electron mobility of ZnO was about 0.1 cm2V-1s-1 as determined from TFT measurements. Power conversion efficiency of solar cells: FTO/ZnO/PbS/Au-Ag was 3.0% under AM1.5 irradiation conditions. The possibility of deposition of ZnO at low temperatures demonstrated herein is of important for solution processed electronic and optoelectronic devices.  Keywords ZnO, low-temperature, quantum dots, solar cells, TFTs References [1] A. Abstract: In this article, by combining/following previous publications, we summarize the history of nearly 100 years of development of the Vietnam seismological network and its achievements in earthquake monitoring and seismological research to contribute to prevention and mitigation of natural disasters and sustainable development of the country. Earthquake observation in Vietnam has gone through many stages of development, the first seismic station was established in Sapa by the French in 1924. In the years of  70-80s of the 20th Century, the earthquake monitoring network of Vietnam consisted of 7 stations, including five stations distributed in the Northern part (Phu Lien, Sa Pa, Bac Giang, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang) and two stations located in the south (Nha Trang and Da Lat). In the period from 1990 to 2005, the national seismological network with 24 digital seismographs and short-period sensors was created and distributed throughout the country. Today, earthquake monitoring in Vietnam has made great progress, the new seismological network with 30 broadband stations with advanced earthquake monitoring technology been established completely in 2017. The international cooperation on earthquake monitoring and seismological research is  always promoted and expanded, over the past 60 years, IGP has collaborated with many scientific organizations from different countries such as Russia, France, China, Japan, Poland, The United State of America,... and prestigious international organizations as UNDP, PTWC, CTBTO, IRIS, ADPC, RIMES,.. Through these cooperations, many research projects have been done and Vietnamese seismologists have been trained and educated at different levels that help to improve their knowledge earthquake monitoring and seismological research. Besides operating the national seismological network, some local seismic networks have also been established by Institute of Geophysics for many years to monitor and study induced seismicity in some reservoirs of hydropower dams such as Son La, Hoa Binh, Tri An, Yaly, Song Tranh, Lai Chau, Huoi Quang, Ban Chat,...

Abstract: Background: Over 60% of single-gene diseases in newborns are autosomal dominant variants. Noninvasive prenatal testing for monogenic conditions (NIPT-SGG) is cost-effective and timesaving, but not widely applied. This study introduces and validates NIPT-SGG in detecting 25 monogenic conditions. Methods: NIPT-SGG with a 30-gene panel applied next-generation sequencing and trio assays to confirm de novo variants. Diagnostic tests confirmed NIPT-detected cases. Results: Among 93 pregnancies with ultrasound findings, 11 (11.8%) fetuses were screened and diagnosed with monogenic diseases, mostly with Noonan syndrome. NIPT-SGG determined 〉 99.99% of actual positive and negative cases, confirmed by diagnostic tests. No false-negatives or false-positives were reported. Conclusion: NIPT-SGG effectively identifies the fetuses affected with monogenic diseases, which is a promisingly safe and timely antenatal screening option for high-risk pregnancies.
