    Abstract: Bu araştırma, zenginleştirilmiş kafes (ZK) ve serbest sistemde (SS) yetiştirilen Atak-S yumurtacı hatların yumurta iç ve dış kalite özelliklerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada; 400 adet 31 haftalık yaştaki yumurta tavukları, 6 hafta süreyle beslenmişlerdir. Deneme süresince haftalık olarak her bir sistemde yetiştirilen tavukların yumurtalarından 15‘er adet alınarak dış (şekil indeksi, kabuk özellikleri) ve iç (ak ve sarı genişliği, yüksekliği ve sarı rengi) kalite özellikleri belirlenmiştir. Deneme sonunda, Haugh birimi (2. hafta), ak indeksi (6. hafta), yumurta kabuk oranı (1., 2. ve 3. hafta), kabuk kalınlığı (6. hafta), yumurta sarısı rengi L için (3. hafta), a için ise (1. ve 3. hafta) verileri arasındaki farklılık istatistiki olarak önemli bulunmuştur. Belirtilen haftaların dışındaki diğer haftalardaki ve genel ortalama değerler arasındaki farklılıklarla, yumurta ağırlığı, şekil indeksi ve sarı indeksi değerleri arasındaki farklılıklar önemsiz bulunmuştur.

    Abstract: The objective of this study was to test the effects of dietary natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) on performance, skin and liver histology in rats. In this study, 24 10-week-old, weaned, adult male Spraque-Dawley rats with approximately 306 +- 18.93 g initial live weight were used. The rats were randomly divided into four groups with three replicates, including a control group and groups with one of three doses of clinoptilolite (2%, 4%, and 6%) in their diets. All the rats were fed these concentrates throughout the experimental period of 56 days. The animals were reared individually in stainless steel cages. There were no significant differences in the primary and secondary follicle numbers among groups, but the diameters of each follicle were found to be significant. The primary and secondary follicle numbers and diameters ranged from lowest to highest as follows: 2.00-2.33, 4.50-7.17; and 11.53-20.42, 57.63-102.12um, respectively. The differences occurred between the control group and group IV (containing 6% zeolite). In addition, the skin and liver histology results showed that there were no differences among the groups.

    Abstract: Araştırma, Diyarbakır merkeze bağlı 4 ilçede (Bağlar, Kayapınar, Sur, Yenişehir) öğrenim gören 478 ilköğretim öğrencisi ile gerçekleştirildi. Her bir ilçede önceden belirlenen okullardan, ilköğretim 4., 6. ve 7. sınıf öğrencileri ile yüz yüze yapılan anketlerden sağlanan veriler kullanılarak bu çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Anket verileri khi kare testiyle değerlendirilmiş ve elde edilen sonuçlar yorumlanmıştır. Yapılan anketlerle, öğrencilerin cinsiyeti, yaşı, yaşadığı ilçe, sınıfı, kardeş sayısı, ailenin eğitim durumu ve ebeveynlerinin maddi durumları ile beslenme tercihleri, tüketilen et ve et ürünleri, süt ve süt ürünleri, yumurta tüketimleri arasındaki istatistiksel ilişki araştırılmıştır. Araştırma sonucuna göre, öğrencilerin cinsiyeti, yaşı, bağlı olduğu ilçe, sınıfı, kardeş sayısı, ailenin eğitim durumu ve ebeveynlerinin maddi durumu ile hayvansal proteinle beslenme tercihleri arasında istatiksel olarak farklılık olduğu saptanmıştır.

    Abstract: Günümüzde tarım alanları, artan ve genişleyen yollar, fabrikalar ile insan yerleşimi nedeniyle giderek azalırken, ayrıca erozyon ve bilinçsiz tarım uygulamaları nedeniyle de arazilerin verimliliği de azalmaktadır. Bu durumda hızla artan nüfusun, sağlıklı ve dengeli olarak beslenmesindeki güçlükler de artmaktadır. Özellikle sezon dışı ürünlerde aroma, renk, kıvam vb. özellikler de olumsuz şekilde değişmiştir. Zamanla tüketiciler bilinçlendikçe ve gelirleri arttıkça, doğal olarak yetiştirilen ürünlerin talebi artmaktadır. Ancak artan bu ilginin başlıca nedenlerinden birisi de karma yem tüketen hayvanların ürünleri hakkındaki olumsuz yargılardır. Toplumun bir kesimi karma yem tüketen hayvanların ürünlerinin insanlarda sağlık problemleri oluşturacağını iddia etmektedirler. Basın yayın organları da konu uzmanı olmayan kişilerin görüşlerine yer vererek bu olumsuz algıyı körüklemektedir. Toplumu yönlendirebilme potansiyeli olan kişilerin bilimsel gelişmeler ışığında mevcut teknolojik bilgi ve tecrübeleri herhangi bir çıkar grubuna destek olmaksızın nesnel olarak aydınlatma zorunluluğu bulunmaktadır

    Abstract: Protein is the highest costed nutrients in human food and animal feeds. Protein production is requiredlabour intensified and highly costed process. In under developed countries, unbalanced and malnutrition problemsare common, because of higher population growth. Especially, in animal originated, higher biologic valued proteinproduction is getting expensive because of exces natural sources using (water, manure, feed etc.) Monogastricanimals (pig, fish, poultry and pet animals) and humans are dependent on essential amino acids. These limitedamino acids are abundant in animal proteins. For a long time, reserchers are seeking alternative protein sourcesfor food and feed. Some microorganisms just like bacteria, yeast, algae and fungi can use some agriculturel andindustrial wastes as row materials for good quality single cell protein production.

    Abstract: After domestication of livestock animals, their production performances were constantly increased by breeding. However, this situation may lead animals to become more susceptible to changing environmental conditions and diseases. In order to get higher production level, good quality feeds should be supplied to meet nutritional requirements of animals. In addition, housing conditions need to be improved and stress conditions should be decreased. Stress is a kind of reaction of animals to cope with the various problems they face to in the World. Animals have the ability to adapt to any changes in nature or farm conditions. Each changes can be a potantial stress factor for animals rather than their routines. Health and productivity levels of animals should be; changes in feed, physiological condition (preganacy, lactation etc.), management, vaccination, even colour of the caregiver’s clothes, etc. are major sources of stress. While it is almost impossible to keep livestock animals in a stress-free environment, the effects of stress can be reduced by spreading stress factors over times. The amount of body secretions of animals like enzymes and hormones changes in the case of stress. In long-term stress conditions, animal health and productivity can be affected negatively, likewise food product quality. Since halal food production aims to produce the most suitable food for human health, raising farm animals by protecting them from various stress factors will also provide a competitive advantage in the international market today.
