Abstract: The study describes a sentinel diarrhea surveillance system at the Vietnam National Children’s Hospital from 2018 - 2022, characterizing the epidemiology of acute diarrhea (AD) due to rotavirus (RV) and identifying circulating RV strains. Of 4,765 AD cases, 861 were positive for RV, accounting for 18.07%. The disease appeared in all months, peaking in the winter-spring months (from October to March of the following year). The groups of children aged 6 - 11 months, 12 - 23 months, and 6 weeks-6 months had the highest number of cases, but the highest positive rate is 24 - 47 months old. About 24% of RV patients under 2 years of age have already been vaccinated, while this proportion among 3 - 5 years of age patients is 41%. Dehydration and no dehydration account for 96,7%, while severe dehydration only accounts for 3.3%, the prevalent RV types identified were G3P[8], G8P[8] , G1P[8], G9P[8] , which account for 50.7%, 20.6%, 11.4%, and 9%, respectively and changed annually. It is necessary to implement RV vaccines in the Expanded Program on Immunization. Meanwhile maintaining an RV sentinel surveillance system and continuing research on the effectiveness of RV vaccines in Viet Nam are also critical for controlling RV in Vietnam.

Abstract: Cordyceps militaris is a valued medicinal fungus in folk medicine in East Asia. It contains two major nucleosides, cordycepin and adenosine, which have been reported to have potential antineoplastic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities. This paper aimed to study the effect of C. militaris extract on the reproductive function of a mouse model, evaluating possible toxicity, androgenic activity, and protective and rehabilitative effects against damages caused by sodium valproate (VPA). There was no death and abnormalities observed in mice. Androgen activity was also shown in young male rats by an improvement in several sexual organs. The protective effect of C. militaris extract was explained by the gain of sexual organs’ weight, testosterone concentration, and seminiferous tubule size as well as the enhancement of sperm density, alive sperm percentage, and the progressive forward movement of sperm. The pregnancy rate of female rats paired with VPA-administered male rats (500 mg/kg/day) increased proportionally with the higher dose of C. militaris extract. In the rehabilitation study, an incline in the weight of the Cowper’s gland and glans (0.112 g/kg/day) and testicle and prostate (0.336 g/kg/day) as well as an improvement of the sperm forward progressive movement was observed. The percentage of unprogressive sperm and immotile sperm has reduced. These results suggest that C. militaris is a potential supplement to reduce the negative effects of VPA and improve reproductive function, in which the two major constituents cordycepin and adenosine may play an active role.

Materials and methods: We studied 77 healthy subjects without prediabetes or diabetes, and 70 type 2 diabetic patients. We excluded patients with thyroid dysfunction and those taking glucocorticoids that affect the serum Cystatin level. The serum Cystatin C level measured in 2 groups. In type 2 diabetic patients, we measured renal radiography, albuminuria, and estimated GFR using CKD.EPI 2012 formular. Descriptive and cross-sectional study. A statistical analyses of the data was performed using SPSS, Excel 2003. Receiver operating characteristics (ROC) analysis, calculated the area under the curve (AUC) for serum Cystatin C. Results: The level of serum Cystatin C in the type 2 diabetic patients was significantly higher than in the control group (1.45±0.97, 0.97±0.23 mg/L, p 〈 0.001, respectively). The level of serum Cystatin C showed stepwise increase with albuminuria level. The serum cystatin C level in the macroalbuminuria group was significantly higher than microalbuminuria group (2,51±1,13; 1,12±0.69 mg//l, p 〈 0.05, respectively). Abstract: Based on the results of artificial samples generated in the minority class and through the label regulation of the neighbor samples of the majority class, the precision of the classification prediction for imbalanced learning has clearly been enhanced. This article presents a unified solution combining learning factors to improve the learning performance. The proposed method solves this imbalance through a feature selection incorporating the generation of artificial samples and label regulation. A probabilistic representation is used for all aspects of learning: class, sample, and feature. A Bayesian inference is applied to the learning model to interpret the imbalance occurring in the training data and to describe solutions for recovering the balance. We show that the generation of artificial samples is sample based approach and label regulation is class based approach. We discovered that feature selection achieves surprisingly good results when combined with a sample- or class-based solution.

Abstract: Capital investment is one of the most important financial decisions of a firm, which effects the business survival. This paper investigates the impact of capital investments on firm performance to provide an insight for future capital investment decisions of companies. The study uses unbalance panel data gathered from 62 companies which covered 688 observations of listed food and agriculture sector in Vietnam stock exchange during the period 2009 – 2020. To control for unobserved individual effects, the random effect estimator was employed. Profit margin (PM) is used as a proxy for firm performance, while independent variables are capital investment rate in both short-term and long-term effect, equity to total assets ratio, firm size and tangible to fixed assets ratio. The results indicate that capital investments have statistically significant positive impact on long-term performance of the analyzed enterprises. This outcome is in accordant with many previous studies. Especially in the context of Vietnam listed food and agriculture companies have high level of capital investment, a portion increase in capital investment rate will increase the company profit margin. Other variables also have statistically significant relationship with profit margin, in details, equity ratio and size have positive effect while tangible assets ratio has negative effect on firm performance. Therefore, the research suggest firm managers should choose the appropriate capital investment strategies in long-term perspective, within the consideration of equity ratio, economics of scale and tangible assets investment ratio to get the most efficient performance.
