Abstract The Dore river is a tributary of the Allier river (catchment of the Loire river). The Dore has undergone important changes in its fluvial morphology since 1950. This recent evolution contrasted with the absence of change which characterized the Dore in the early part of this century. These changes only concern the reaches which have undergone watercourse improvements. The main fluvial modifications are involved by the gravel mining in river bed, by bank leveeing, widening and deepening, realignment. The relationships between these works and changes in fluvial dynamics are discussed.
