Abstract: Brain death is a clinical diagnosis with a irreversible absence of cerebral and brain stem functions. In all cases the confirmatory tests are not mandatory but a repeat evaluation is generally recommended. The diagnosis and confirmation largely remains a complex clinical, ethical and social issue for physicians, family members and society at a large. The concept of the "dead-donar rule" closely linked to the increasing need for organ transplantation has created conflicts of interests between the demand for organs and the need for a scientifically and philosophically valid definition of human death. Finally, physicians are entrusted to apply accepted standards and practices while making the diagnosis and confirmation of brain death and should exhibit patience and provide emotional support to the family

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to design and validate a unique, simple, and effective RP-HPLC analytical method using the QbD methodology. The QbD methodology not only confirms the method's robustness but also aids in the development of repeatable and reliable data. The goal of this work is to develop and validate a simple analytical RP-HPLC method for determining Cefpodoxime Impurity (Cefpodoxime Acid) in pharmaceutical formulations using the Analytical Quality by Design methodology (AQbd) in accordance with ICH Q8 guidelines. The Analytical Quality by Design technique was used in the proposed study. Cefpodoxime impurity (Cefpodoxime Acid) was chromatographically evaluated using an Inertsil C18 (5 m) column. The mobile phase was phosphate buffer and methanol pH 4.0 in the ratio of 60:40, which was driven onto the column at 0.8 ml/min using an isocratic elution protocol. 222 nm was discovered to be the detection wavelength for impurity estimation. Design expert 11 (Trial edition) software was used to investigate the effects of the mobile phase composition, flow rate, and pH. The analysis of cefpodoxime acid took 20 minutes to complete & at 15.6 minutes, the impurity was eluted.

Abstract: Noise is an unwanted and disharmonic sound pollutant which has a direct and indirect effect on human health. It is an environmental pollutant but does not affect the air, soil or water environment. With increasing industrialization and modernization over the last decade, the health hazard of this measurable pollutant has increased to label it a "Silent Killer" with lots of health related issues. According to WHO, around 63 million people i.e. around 6.3% of total population is affected by hearing loss in India due to noise pollution. Despite our ability to precisely measure noise, its effects on health have been largely neglected until recently in most countries and unfortunately this neglect continues in most developing countries, including India. Worldwide it is estimated that hundreds of millions of people suffer a range of health effects due to noise pollution but there is no national plan in India to reduce environmental noise pollution.

Abstract: Being one of the most common endocrinal disorders, the thyroid diseases having an extended spectrum from subclinical hypothyroidism to life threatening thyroid storm. Hyperthyroidism a hypermetabolic state with excess circulating thyroid hormones present as common systemic features like weight loss, palpitation, heat intolerance as well as peripheral and central nervous system manifestations.[1] Few of the initial neurological symptoms are often misdiagnosed as psychiatric disorders.

Abstract: Multiple sclerosis being a chronic, autoimmune inflammatory disease of central nervous system with its common and uncommon semiology has a predilection for women of child bearing age. The stressful period of pregnancy is further complicated with presence of multiple sclerosis. Overall multiple sclerosis has stabilising effect on pregnancy especially in its second and third trimester but adversely affects the post-partum period with increasing relapse rate. This is related with intense immune response triggered by marked changes in levels of circulating hormones. A better understanding of anti-natal, natal and post-partum effect of multiple sclerosis helps us to decide for institution or continuation of disease modifying drugs which are generally associated with favourable outcome.

Abstract: Gut microflora comprising of trillions of various bacteria, protozoan, virus and fungi who live as a super-complex ecosystem in human body mostly (around 70%) in gastrointestinal tract. In habitating skin, mouth, intestine and sexual organs they live as symbiotic, commensal or pathogenic organism in the human body. These gut microflora interplay with bodily metabolic, immune, endocrinal and nervous system which leads to various pathophysiological mechanism for the causation of related disorders. This altered ‘Brain gut axis’ is responsible for disorders like anxiety, depression, autism, schizoaffective or bipolar disorder and also diseases like Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis.1

Abstract: Carrying the reputation of silent killer of 21st century, ‘Noise’ a modern day pollutant is defined as an unpleasant, disharmonic and undesired acoustic signal. World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated it dimensions and warned that 10% of the population is exposed to both short and long term health related issues due to noise. Whilst facing the conflict between development and human health, the noise favors the present day industrialization and urbanization. The harmful effect of noise may start from intrauterine life and continues till old age. Noise of more than 85-95dB affects both the fetus and neonates by damaging the cochlear hair cell and results in high frequency hearing loss. At times prematurity, low birth rate and birth defects are also associated with exposure to high dB noise.

Abstract: Hypothyroidism is a clinical entity very commonly encountered in clinical practices. Untreated hypothyroidism can lead to hypertension, dyslipidemia, infertility, cognitive impairment, neurological and neuromuscular involvements. Neurological complications include reversible cerebellar ataxia, dementia, peripheral neuropathy, psychosis, coma, encephalopathy (Hashimoto's encephalopathy), neuromuscular disorders. The disease identification in the initial stage remains difficult as it presents with a large number of clinical features. Neonatal screening protocols in all patients of hypothyroidism can help in the timely detection as well as treatment. Most of the neurological manifestations can be reversed on timely administration of levothyroxine which works well even in reversing of the symptoms as it reverses the metabolic abnormalities. It is important to evaluate every patient with hypothyroidism or with the suspicion of the disease for any neurological abnormalities.

Abstract: Epilepsy the second most common chronic neurological disorder after stroke affect 0.5-2% population worldwide. Antiepileptic drugs though remain the corner stone in management of epilepsy in majority of patients but still 30% of patients continues to have seizure or experience unacceptable pharmacological side effect. Electrical stimulation of vagus nerve is an effective and promising neurophysiological treatment for patients with refractory epilepsy who are either unsuitable candidate of surgery or falls in category of surgically refractory epilepsy.
