Abstract:
Our exploratory study proposes to identify traumatic events and experiences in the life course of women criminals and to better understand their link with the emergence of the act. Thirteen incarcerated women were interviewed and answered the EVE questionnaire, which measures the subjective impact of traumatic events. The results show the importance of the traumatic experiences (on average 10 traumatic events cited) with, however, a significant variability in the answers. Two profiles were identified: women who spontaneously expressed their traumatic experiences, while others had no or few such experiences. The qualitative interview allows us to qualify these data. The discussion emphasises the importance of identifying traumatic experiences and the forms of dissociation that may be associated with these experiences.
