    Abstract: Background. The lack of awareness and knowledge possessed by English teachers about the importance of literary works in learning English in elementary schools is a significant factor that makes English learning does not runs optimally. Therefore, this community service program (PKM) needs to be carried out to help students at one of MI (Islamic Elementary School) in Pranti village, Sidoarjo learn English effectively through literary works in the form of fairy tales. Method. The implementation of this program was divided into three stages, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation. At the planning stage, location survey and preliminary observation were conducted to get an overview of the partners. The team also discussed the problems experienced by the school and offered solutions. The implementation stage was carried out by conducting dissemination on learning English through literary works and implementation of English language learning through literary works. This program involved 25 third graders of the MI. Results. The result of the pretest revealed that all of the students (25 students) had unsatisfying scores.  After the implementation, the scores increased. All of the students (100%) achieved satisfying scores. The pretest and posttest scores showed a significantly different result as evidenced by the N-Gain score of 0.72 (72.2%). Conclusion. The community service program reveals that literary works in the form of fairy tales involved in classroom English learning through a short movie and flashcards is fairly effective to help the students learn English, especially in mastering the vocabulary. Abstrak: Kurangnya kesadaran dan pengetahuan yang dimiliki oleh guru bahasa Inggris akan pentingnya karya sastra dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di sekolah dasar menjadi faktor signifikan yang menyebabkan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris menjadi kurang maksimal.Oleh karena itu, program pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini perlu dilakukan untuk membantu siswa di salah satu MI (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah) di Desa Pranti, Sidoarjo mempelajari bahasa Inggris secara efektif melaui karya sastra yang berbentuk cerita dongeng. Metode. Pelaksanaan program ini dibagi dalam tiga tahapan, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi.  Pada tahap perencanaan, survei lokasi dan observasi awal dilakukan untuk mendapatkan gambaran dari mitra. Tim ini juga mendiskusikan masalah yang dialami oleh sekolah tersebut serta menawarkan solusinya. Tahap pelaksanaan berisi kegiatan diseminasi tentang pembelajaran bahasa Inggris melalui karya sastra (berupa cerita dongeng), implementasi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris melalui karya sastra, monitoring dan bimbingan tentang penggunaan karya sastra dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Pada tahap terakhir, evaluasi pelaksanaan program dan keberlanjutan program setelah kegiatan PKM selesai. Program ini melibatkan 25 siswa kelas 3 di MI tersebut Hasil. Hasil pretes mengungkapkan bahwa semua siswa (100%) menghasilkan nilai yang tidak memuaskan. Setelah implementasi, nilai mereka meningkat. Semua siswa memperoleh nilai yang memuaskan. Nilai pretes dan posttes menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan yang dibuktikan dengan nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,72 (72,2%). Kesimpulan. Program PKM ini mengungkapkan bahwa karya sastra dalam bentuk cerita dongeng yang dilibatkan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di kelas melalui film pendek dan flashcards cukup efektif membantu siswa dalam mempelajari bahasa Inggris, khususnya dalam penguasaan kosakata

    Abstract: This study aims to report the 39 students’ perceptions (as pre-service foreign language teachers) on their experiences using video recording and e-Sorogan learning methods during teaching. One of them is a student with special needs diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). With these two methods (video recording and e-Sorogan learning methods), all students’ English teaching performance during microteaching and group discussions were recorded. After being recorded, all students’ English teaching materials and their English teaching performance role play videos were uploaded in e-Sorogan. Moreover, in e-Sorogan, all students gave comments on each other's teaching performance. The instrument used to collect the data of the study was a questionnaire survey through a google form. It consists of short answer questions available in the e-Sorogan classroom to obtain data from two open-ended questions on the students’ perceptions about video-recording and e-Sorogan learning methods. To collect the data, the questionnaire was distributed through the WhatsApp group. Data collected were analyzed qualitatively. The findings illustrated that the use of video recording and e-Sorogan learning methods in microteaching has both advantages and challenges for all students who take microteaching as the pre-service teachers, including the ASD and ADHD students.     Abstract: Dialogue is well known as a way tointroduce an example of how to express something to the students. Dialogues are primarily used to provide speaking practice but can also develop listening. The teacher can use dialogues to introduce and practice a function, structure, or vocabulary, and to illustrate degrees of politeness, levels of formality, and attitudes of the target culture. Moreover, students can be more activebecause of it. The writer assumes that though the students with less vocabulary still can speak and feel well in front of their other classmates because standard dialogue provide many vocabularies and expressions to be used. There are many types of dialogue; most of them are interesting to be used in an English class. In this paper, the writer tries to present an idea that dialogue in some types are not only good and effective to be used, but also able to activate the students, especially in a speaking class.

    Abstract: Berdasarkan berbagai observasi terhadap guru bahasa Indonesia di Sekolah Dasar, kompetensi keterampilan menulis puisi siswa masih di bawah kata maksimal. Adapun penyebab rendahnya keterampilan menulis puisi siswa yaitu dari faktor guru dan faktor siswa. Dari faktor guru yaitu guru hanya memberikan materi-materi menulis puisi tanpa didahului pengarahan tentang penulisan puisi. Pembelajaran menulis puisi masih bertumpu pada hambatan pembelajaran klasik konvensional dengan strategi, pendekatan, dan metode yang belum mampu menumbuhkan kebiasaan berpikir produktif. Metode yang digunakan guru kurang variatif, sehingga membosanlan bagi siswa. Hambatan lain adalah bahwa guru masih melaksanakan penilaian yang bersifat teoritis berupa pengetahuan dan pemahaman konsep saja. Dalam pembelajaran menulis puisi ini guru hanya membacakan salah satu puisi dalam buku paket dan menyuruh siswa untuk menuliskan puisi tersebut lalu guru menyuruhnya untuk membacakannya di depan kelas. Tetapi siswa tidak diberi kesempatan untuk menulis puisi dengan bahasa atau kata-katanya sendiri dan kemampuannya sendiri. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan wawasan dalam membuat puisi secara mudah menggunakan metode ATM (Amati, Tiru, Modifikasi) bagi Guru Sekolah Dasar di Kabupaten Magetan, dan sebagai sarana implementasi pembelajaran sastra anak bagi Guru Sekolah Dasar. Metode yang dilakukan dalam pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan dengan memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan pada Guru SD. Mitra pada pelaksanaan Pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah Persatuan Guru Republik Indonesia (PGRI) Kabupaten Magetan. Hasil dari Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) berupa peningkatan pemahaman guru SD yang mengikuti kegiatan ini. Sebanyak 22 responden mengalami peningkatan pemahaman sebanyak 90% yang awalnya, berdasarkan kuesioner pemahaman awal 25-40%. Melalui kegiatan ini, diharapkan para guru SD yang tergabung dalam PGRI Kabupaten Magetan dapat menerapkan metode baru dalam proses kreatif penulisan puisi.

    Abstract: English is very important and in the era of globalization English will be found in everyday life. Therefore, children must be provided with sufficient provisions as early as possible to get learning English, one of which starts from elementary school age because at that age between the ages of 6-13 years, children are in a critical period, namely experiencing very rapid development of the brain, so that easy to understand, remember and apply. SDN Gampingrowo 02 Sidoarjo, which is located in a remote area the of Tarik sub-district, is far from urban areas, making people have different thoughts about school. People in these areas tend to think that school is not important, so many children do not get an education. This results in a very small number of students in each class. The small number of students also makes teachers in the surrounding area less interested in working in the school which makes the school lack of teachers in it. Due to these conditions, we decided to do community service with the Total Physical Response (TPR) technique. TPR technique is a learning technique that focuses on body movement. This technique is often used in learning activities that require a student's memory. With movement, students are easier to memorize a vocabulary because they are not easily bored and move actively which can improve their ability to remember. This community service activity was carried out on Wednesday and Thursday, 22-23 June 2022. This activity lasted for 2 consecutive days. The results of this community service activity show that by teaching modeling with the Total Physical Response (TPR) technique 5th-grade students at SDN Gampingrowo 02 Sidoarjo, totaling 10 people, can understand English vocabulary easily. The TPR technique is very influential and succession introducing basic English to elementary school students. In addition, teachers can find out about learning with TPR strategies, namely using body movements and music. The TPR strategy can also train students' self-confidence. So, it is highly recommended to use the Total Physical Response (TPR) technique when adding English vocabulary.

    Abstract: Learning English, as outlined in Curriculum 2013, is more directed at mastering the ability to write text-based genres. In this study the author introduces game by utilizing the Android Emulator. The problem of this research is to find out the effectiveness of using the Andoid Emulator tool as an effective interactive learning media on the ability to write and the involvement of students in the learning process of writing. The design of this study is pre-test-post-test group design. After implementing the Game Before Writing Procedure using the Nox Android Emulator, a post-test is performed. The population is high school students SMA Bhayangkari 10 Porong. Research samples were 39 students. The Research Instruments are tests and observation sheet. Data Analysis is using the T Test and descriptive. From data, the mean difference is 12,435. This means that Learning with Game Before Writing Procedure has an influence on the ability of Writing Report.. 80% of students are actively involved in the game. Based on the results of the T Test for the Utilization of the Nox Android Emuator in the implementation of Game Before Writing Learning Procedures, it is effective in improving report writing skills. The fun game encourages student involvement

    Abstract: Language teachers have many ways to make the teaching and learning process become more interesting, especially in teaching the students with the special need. One of this types known as ADHD (Attention Deficits Hyperactive Disorder) will be discussed in this paper. The student with this type of special need has a special ways too in their teaching and learning process. In this case, reading comprehension. Reading is well known as one of the literacy activities. Make thestudents literate is very important no matter who the student is. Thus the special need student also has a right to be literate too through the literacy activities. This paper focuses on describing the teaching and learning process of reading using comic strip. The discussion is about the way itconducts in a class, the steps and also the materials used. The data were collected by documentation, observation, and interview; and, analyzed using qualitative description. The results show that comic strip is able to build an enthusiasm of the student. It is because comic strip is interesting for him. It automatically helps him to predict the content of the text given. Thus, through the use of comic strip, the problems related to the reading comprehension of special need students are solved gradually

    Abstract: There are various ways that can be taken to improve the vocabulary of EFL students. The use of media, as well as teaching methods. This research focuses on developing Comic Strips as a supporting medium for vocabulary teaching. Based on the sections from Comic Strips, students can choose what vocabulary they want to use to complete the available bubbles so that they form sentences and in the end a coherent story. Lecturers can also use Comic Strips to facilitate students in developing ideas in their writings by asking some stimulating questions. In line with the usefulness of Comic Strips to improve the vocabulary of EFL students, the researchers developed comic strip media with certain themes to be used in vocabulary courses for 7 meetings. The researcher believes that the development of Comic Strips media can be effective because it can make students enjoy the teaching and learning process.

    Abstract: The aims of this study is to find out the Gender Representation in Love, Sex, Death, and Words Surprising Tales from a Year in Literature by John Sutherland and Stephen Fender and to reveal the message between them. This study uses descriptive qualitative analysis since the data are not statistically analyzed and the data of this study are picture and text, which exist in the book. The findings of this study will show that diction and gender have integrated each other. Both of them have much influence in Love, Sex, Death, and Words Surprising Tales from a Year in Literature. Finally, this study has much beneficial for those who want to know more about the way gender takes part in the book. There are several ways to make a good literature work especially in this book and one of the strategy is gender. Gender has a unique way to make literature work can be seen beautifully. Additionally, this research gives additional information for those who intend to conduct the research on the same topic but different object of the research to get varied result of the research.
